There was laughter everywhere in the cafeteria.
The matrons serving the food said and did nothing.
Sinclair sighed in exasperation.
I wasn’t sure of Raul’s reaction to his sister’s bullying. I didn’t look.
No. I was already transported in time to the cafeteria back at the pack.
I was transported to the past, to the particular time when Noah had poured milk on me; to the time when Daniel had joined them; to the time when the entire student populace, or most, had joined them in throwing food at me; to the time when the matrons had done nothing to help me; until Noami had run and called the principal.
My fists clenched, while watching the girl sniff. She was about to cry.
I didn’t know when I moved, didn’t care to know how I had gotten in front of Rachel in less than two seconds.
I grabbed her by the neck and pulled her out of the chair.
“Don’t dare use your magic on me, or you are gone, Rachel.” I said when I saw her hand twitching.
It was a gamble. A very risky one, knowing that I wouldn’t have a comeback if she actually touched me.
I had also banked on the fact that she hadn’t seen the rusty key which I had used for my locker.
It worked.
She dropped her hand, and sneered at me.
I could see a tinge of fear in her eyes though, I could see from her eyes that my mask was glowing more than usual, but this wasn’t the time to wonder why. A slip on the anger on my face, on the ruthlessness on my face, and I was gone.
Meanwhile, there was a hushed silence in the cafeteria. It was like there was a pause in time, everything revolving around me and Rachel.
Rachel tried to shake herself from my grip, but somehow my grip was strong on her neck.
She tried again, but it wouldn’t budge.
It was then that I knew I had gotten insane strength from Adam too.
I was a tad bit grateful for that, especially as panic took hold of her.
I let her go. But not before picking her own container of orange juice and pouring it over her head.
Gasps exploded in the cafeteria.
“The principal told me that there was no special treatment for the royals in the school. I can see that it isn’t true. Although I’m curious now on what will happen to me for disrespecting a royal who bullied a classmate.” I said, taking a step away from her, my eyes finding the girl whose face and hair was still covered with milk.
She was staring at me with an open mouth. She looked familiar.
“What’s your name?” I asked her, folding my arms across my chest like I could care less of Rachel who was stupefied at the turn of events, at her being bathed in orange juice.
I noticed then that Sinclair had come to stand beside me.
I hissed mentally.
I would have asked him to get out for not doing anything about this occurrence, which seemed regular despite his headboy-ship, but for the fact that I was powerless if Rachel should try to use magic on me.
“My name is Levina.”
I was the one to gape then.
The principal’s daughter!
“Is your father aware of this?” I asked, not believing my eyes.
I looked around the cafeteria in disgust.
Everyone had shut their mouths, allowing the principal’s daughter to be bullied? How was that even possible? I thought, looking at the matrons who hid their faces in shame.
Oh, they were not going scot free. I will make sure to report this incident, both to the principal and the Queen. I don’t care for the repercussions!
As a matter of fact, I would do that now.
I held the girl’s hand, about to move with her out of the hall, when she held me back.
“My father can’t know about this. His job…”
“I don’t care about that! And I’m sure he won’t either!”
This must be the reason why the man had asked me to look after his daughter. He must have had the instinct that she was bullied.
I almost wept at the unfairness of the situation. So much for a peaceful community where all things were fair.
“Do you know what your father told me, before he let me leave his office this morning after registration?”
Everyone’s attention was on us now. Everyone’s ears were open. That was good. Even if I had the cloaking magic, I still wouldn’t have used it at this point.
“He told me to take care of you. He mentioned that you thought I was cool, cool trouble…” I chuckled drily when the girl blushed in embarrassment.
“I didn’t see you at the party, or recognize you in class, since I was trying to get past the boring lectures; but when I heard your name, it was like pressure had suddenly been thrown to my back. I need to do this, and you better not stop me.” I slipped an evil edge to my voice and face, something I didn’t even know I could do.
I wondered then if I had taken some of Adam’s evilness too.
The girl didn’t hesitate again when I pulled her and started walking out of the cafeteria.
Naomi will be so proud of me. I thought, a soft smile on my lips, as the girl tightened her hold on mine.
There was still silence in the hall, and no one bothered to stop us, or make a statement, probably because Sinclair was with us.
Raul stood up from his chair to get to us, but I glared at him hotly, and he halted.
So high of him to think that I will let him near me now?
Yes, he wasn’t aware that I had been bullied but how could he stay still while his sister bullied another? What did that say of his personality?
So, I didn’t care about the hurt that expressed itself in his eyes. I didn’t care too that he glared at Sinclair who walked right behind us.
Sinclair.
I would tell him away once we were out of here. He had also stood by whilst Levina had been bullied.
