Adam.
I stood at the entrance of the hall that had been chosen for this unnecessary event, my gaze sweeping across the extravagant decor that adorned every corner.
The ostentatious display was a testament to the lavishness that my father had spared no expense to achieve, a grand gesture intended to curry favor with the Queen.
Intricately carved pillars adorned with gilded accents soared towards the ornate ceiling, shimmering under the golden hue of chandeliers that hung like beacons of indulgence. Every surface gleamed with meticulous polish, reflecting the wealth that had been poured into crafting this spectacle of grandeur.
My jaw tightened as I surveyed the ostentatious tapestries, each woven with threads spun from the finest silks money could buy, depicting tales of heroism and triumphs of our lineage. The exorbitant amount spent on each piece was a testament to my father’s relentless pursuit of the Queen’s favor, a desperate bid to secure alliances and sway her opinion in our favor.
The marble floors beneath my feet, polished to a blinding sheen, whispered tales of the reckless sums squandered in their meticulous detailing. Intricate patterns etched into the marble, a testament to the craftsmen’s expertise, hinted at the exorbitant costs incurred to achieve such flawless intricacy.
Every ornate piece of furniture, every meticulously placed vase, screamed of the lavishness my father had embraced in his quest for favor. The lavishness, however, was a mask that barely concealed his underlying desperation. I’m just not sure of what.
The amount spent to please Her Majesty was staggering, a proof to the lengths my father was willing to go, oblivious to the ever-deepening chasm of the kingdom’s treasury. Yet, as the grandeur mocked me from every corner, I couldn’t help but see through the facade-the Queen’s insatiable hunger for more, the vanity of the expenditure, and the hollow nature of the attempts to curry her favor.
It was a costly charade, a futile attempt to appease a ruler whose favor remained elusive despite the extravagance on display. I was surprised when she agreed to the alliance.
My eyes searched around for her, the girl that was bursting my curiosity banks, but found nothing. I didn’t see the little cousin either.
Who was her aunt again? Yes, the community’s doctor. But I couldn’t find her again. They must have retired to their quarters for the night.
That early? I shrugged my shoulders. I will see her again.
I sighed, when my eyes met my father’s. He was staring right at me, probably wanting to talk.
I soughed, and sucked my irritation up, when he beckoned me. I was envious of my brothers who were snagging one or two ladies for the night, while I spent mine talking with the old man.
What did he want now?
When I got there, he was sitting with the queen, and beside her was her daughter.
“Where have you been?” My father asked, and I shrugged my shoulders. I seemed to be doing that a lot tonight.
“Just went to take up some air.” I answered, fixing my gaze on him steely, not bothered with the other two, my signature aloofness on my face.
“I see. When next you try that, go with your chosen mate, you both need to get to know each other if you are going to rule the communities well.”
I nodded stoically, then turned and stared at the girl, who shined her white teeth at me. Not bad.
I stretched my hand toward her gingerly, making sure she was aware, making sure she felt she was the entirety of my focus.
She blushed at the intensity I was sure she saw in my eyes before placing her hand on mine.
She stood up fashionably, and just before we started to descend the platform, her mother called my attention.
“Just so you know, Adam, you can’t use my daughter, and dump her. Actually, no copulation before the official marriage. It will do you good to get down on your high horse.” The woman spelt out, and I almost scoffed, but for the weightiness of the situation.
“Sure ma.” I answered as I should, before letting the girl drag me out of the platform. She too, couldn’t wait to get away from her over protective family. Where were her brothers?
Once we stepped down from the podium, my eyes connected with Claire’s. She was fuming.
Oh that’s alright. Once I get to know this barbie engaged to me, I will have Claire dancing and screaming in my sheets later.
I shook my head, when my mind intercepted that thought with Dora dancing and screaming in my mind. But it was too late. My little man already felt the thought, and now it grew. This wasn’t good.
I sought out my brothers. They weren’t in the hall of course. Probably getting laid by the first batch, an appetizer before the main deal.
“Don’t worry about my mother. She wasn’t serious.” The girl next to me pinpointed.
Of course she wanted it, but I wasn’t going to fall into the hands of the queen. No way was I touching her daughter. Thank the goddess there were no rules against improvising.
“Sure, I am aware. Can we do this tomorrow morning? I am having a headache, and I need to rest?” I asked her, dropping a kiss on her neck, falsely giving her an idea, an illusion of things to come.
She nodded, sighing dreamily, when I suckled on the part I just kissed, for a nano second, before letting her go.
“Go, my love, I will see you tomorrow.” I said, almost barfing at the word that sounded so cheesy.
She nodded perkily before turning around and walking toward her friends, adding an extra sway to her hip as she walked. She was dumber than Claire.
Speaking of Claire, where was she? My eyes roamed, steeling when I saw her in the arms of an unknown boy, a magic community member.
Was she moving with other boys other than I and my brothers? If that was so, then whatever we had, if there ever was, would be cut. I didn’t share with a non-blood.
She jerked up her head when she saw me, and smiling at the boy, slithered out of his grasp. Good.
I walked outside the hall, toward my quarters, knowing that she will be following me, knowing that I will be sated sexually tonight.
Maybe not sated, but knowing that I would be seeing Dora’s masked face while fucking with Claire.
