47. The Letter

Book:The Nemesis Of The Lycan Triplets Published:2024-11-26

Who opened the window? Where is this blinding light streaming from? Is it morning already? Does morning come too early over here? I cussed, turning on the bed to the other side, signing contentedly when I was blessed with a non-light zone.
I hugged the pillow tighter to myself, and would have continued to sleep if a certain thought hadn’t been chosen at that particular second in the time continuum to filter into my mind.
The thought that I had proposed before I went to sleep last night; to be awake before everyone in the family, so that I could start cleaning the surroundings. This way, they would know, especially Laura, that I was more than appreciative to them for taking me in.
With that remembrance came an instant jerking up from the bed, and a sharp flinging of the soft pink pillow to the side.
“Oh no..” I muttered, irritated with myself, irritated with my keen love for sleep, when I saw that the side of the bed where Diana had slept in last night was empty. The young girl had woken up before me.
“Maya, get a hold of yourself. This isn’t the pack’s home. You have to make some adjustments girl!” I said annoyedly, beating my forehead with my right palm, wishing I had brought my alarm clock to the house.
If only I had gotten a heads up about the betrayal. I huffed, getting out of the bed, my eyes not failing to catch the piece of paper and clothing that had been kept probably by Diana or Laura at the end of the bed.
They already brought out a cloth for me, with toothbrush and all that?
Oh god. I must be really late in the morning. What could be the time? I wondered, my eyes going tro and fro the house, choosing to check what had been written on the paper later.
My eyes found and stayed on a small pink kiddies’ clock on the wall. It was reading thirteen minutes past eleven, and I would have discounted it if not for the fact that the second hand was still moving and that the weather outside was the testament of the fact that it was getting to noon..
No wonder the blinding light. I thought, cussing again as I walked closer to the bundle on the bed. I picked the paper first.
It read:
“Good morning, Maya. I hope you had a nice sleep? I believe you did. You were sleeping so soundly, and I couldn’t bear to wake you up. Well, as it’s obvious, I’m already awake and moving. Mom asked me to bring this bundle to you after I had freshened up. There is a toothbrush and toothpaste. I know you will find them out near the pile. The clothes, well, the big sweater is from my dad. Since, I don’t wear a bra yet, and mom’s might not be your fit, We decided to get you something quite big to hide your breasts. Also the pants belong to mum. We think that would be your fit. We are hoping here though. There are no underwear, well I think you will know the reason. But don’t worry! You will be going shopping with either mom or dad today, whoever would be free to take you. Although I would love to go with you, I can’t because I have to go for my weekend classes at the palace. I will be back in the afternoon. So till then, stay safe. I love you. Bye. Yours love, Diana. Oh and ps: the bathroom is just behind our own hut. Hopefully, you will love it. Byeee.”
I chuckled after reading the letter. Another chuckle, then a big laughter. Diana was a darling, but she can be so funny.
Hide my breasts?
This little girl wouldn’t be the death of me. But her handwriting, and her use of structure was so good. What class was she? She must be so intelligent. My eyes perused the letter again.
Her weekend classes were in the palace? The Queen’s palace? Why? I queried, remembering the Lycan’s home back at the pack. To think of taking classes at that dull place was so funny that it cracked me up again.
But was there a school around? Didn’t the community have one? Or was it located in the palace? Would they have my grade then? If they did, would Laura let me complete my high school there? I thought, my mind refusing to depart from the topic, even as I kept the paper on the study table, and picked up the bundle. I couldn’t wait for Diana to be home. I would like her answers on some of these questions.
“Hopefully, I can find my way around here at least.” I muttered to myself, wondering what the bathroom would be like.
I hummed as I walked slowly out of the hut, and shut the door behind me. Outside was calm and peaceful. Empty too. I didn’t know where Peter and his wife were, but I needed to freshen up before searching for them. They must be in one of the huts. I marched purposefully behind my hut, smiling when I saw a smaller hut just a few feet away from my hut.
I hurried my steps to the hut, my mouth dropping open in amazement when I opened the door and beheld the state of the bathroom. It had a mini jacuzzi. Wow.
I stepped in slowly taking note of the distinct features of the bathroom. It was quite large. There was the toilet area, and then the bathroom that was covered in glass. Then there was the jacuzzi. There were also shelves and rails for towels and all that.
Would I like it? Diana had to be kidding me. This was better than the bathroom that I had at home!
But how do they power this if there was no electricity and phones-well I was yet to see a phone-as my eyes connected to the heater when I opened the bath door.
Well, Peter had a lot of questions to answer then. I decided as I undressed and stepped in properly to shower.
