It was all orchestrated by Ulric! Lion finished the cigarette in his hand and stamped it out on the ground before striding towards a car.
“Knock, knock-” He tapped on the car window. As the glass lowered, the face of a secretary dressed in a suit appeared.
“Hello sir, can I help you?” Lion seized the opportunity to glance into the back seat, but a partition blocked his view. Still, he was certain someone was back there.
“Could I borrow a lighter? I need to light a cigarette,” Lion said, shaking his cigarette pack as a signal.
“Sorry, I don’t smoke,” Cedric replied with a polite smile, preparing to close the window. But Lion quickly changed the topic.
“There must be someone important in this car, may I ask who it is? I’m also a businessman, the owner of Eastsun Corporation. Would it be possible to meet them?”
Eastsun Corporation? That was Rosalind’s company. Cedric glanced in the rearview mirror, saw no reaction, and replied, “My boss is resting, sorry.”
“Alright then.”
With such a refusal, Lion knew his attempt at conversation had failed. Just as he was about to turn and leave, he suddenly heard the sound of a car door opening behind him! Turning his head, he saw the face he usually only saw in magazines now glaringly visible before him.
Ulric was outstanding, dazzling. Even in casual wear, his tall stature alone emitted an overwhelming presence. His entire demeanor radiated an innate nobility and aloofness.
“You are Lion,” Ulric stated, not as a question.
“Yes, that’s me,” Lion admitted openly, stepping forward and extending his hand. But Ulric did not intend to shake it.
“What do you want?”
“I didn’t come here specifically for you, I just saw Mr. Walters’ car and it was quite noticeable. I wanted to meet him, that’s all.”
Perhaps anyone else would have believed him. But to someone pursuing Rosalind, such words could only be foolish.
“You brought Rosalind here.”
His presence here left no room for doubt. Lion nodded, his lips curling into a smile.
“Yes, she wanted to thank the person who helped her. It got late, so she asked me to bring her. She was going to bring me up too, but I didn’t think it was appropriate to meet her friends, especially since… she hasn’t announced my status yet.”
His words conveyed much. It was not even a hint to Ulric, but a clear declaration that Rosalind now belonged to Lion. But Lion made one mistake- No one understood Rosalind better than Ulric.
“Was it you who insisted on coming?”
“…”
“Rosalind wouldn’t have asked anyone to accompany her.”
“Mr. Walters, after being apart from her for so many years, how can you be so sure she hasn’t changed?” Lion chuckled.
“People change.”
Ulric’s lips barely moved.
“She hasn’t.”
“If Mr. Walters is so sure, then why did he divorce Rosalind in the first place?” Lion shrugged his shoulders, spreading his hands.
“It’s because you never really understood her! You don’t know what she truly wants.”
