Monica’s POV
THREE WEEKS LATER
It’s been three weeks since I got back from the hospital and it’s been peaceful. No Ethan, no Mia, and no brother-in-law disturbances.
This week has been so hectic for me because I’ve been planning a big birthday party for the kids.
My babies were turning one year tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited. It filled my heart with great joy that I was alive and I’m around to see this happening.
This was what I wanted. This was what I wished for. To be alive to watch my kids slowly grow and become teenagers, from teenagers to adults, from adults to fathers and mothers to my grandkids one day.
Nicholas suggested we have a small party but I kicked against it instantly. Back then while I was still sick, it hurt me so much that I wasn’t going to see my kids grow and I wasn’t going to be there when they were a year old.
Now, they’re a year old and there was no way I was going to do a small party. I wondered why he suggested a small party when knows I won’t even consider that suggestion.
Maybe he was thinking of how a big party planning would stress you.
This thought ran through my mind and I saw it as a possibility. This was the kid’s first birthday since they came to this wicked world and I was glad that I was alive to celebrate it with them.
Nicholas suggested I get a planner but HELL NO. They are my kids and it’s their first birthday so I will plan it myself and watch how everything will be.
There was no way I would allow a planner to plan my twin’s first birthday for me when I was alive. Planning their first birthday was a reminder of how present and healthy I was.
No longer in the hospital and no more brain tumor. It was a huge blessing to me and I didn’t mind getting stressed out while planning their birthday.
After this one, I will get a planner to plan their second birthday but now, I will plan everything myself.
“Ma’am the flowers are here already. How should we arrange them?” one maid said
“Ma’am the ice cream company you called are outside. Should I let them in?” another maid called.
“Ma’am the servers are asking if they should place alcoholic wine or champagne on the table,” another maid asked.
“Ma’am the company that is going to set up the balloon play house is asking for the space that has been reserved for them to set it up,” a man asked this time, an apron tied to his waist and I knew instantly that he was one of the servers.
I sighed as I felt an ache in my head. After all these planning and celebration, I was going to take a two-day sleeping Marathon.
“I can’t answer everyone at the same time can I?” I asked, staring at all. the eyes that stared back at me.
“Firstly, the flowers are pink in color right?” I asked the maid who asked about how she should arrange the flowers
“Yes ma’am” she responded.
“Good,” I said then started speaking again “I want you to arrange them on that board,” I said, pointing at a board we placed at the entrance of the house.
The board had an inscription in it which says AREN’T THEY ONE-DERFUL
The maid nodded her head and she left. I shifted my gaze to the man who talked about the space for the balloon house “I don’t think I need to show them a space. It’s their job so they should make good use of their eyes and find a space. This computer is huge and will fit everything we place in it” I said and he walked away.
I shifted my gaze to the one who talked about the ice cream company “Let them in and tell them that they shouldn’t forget the flavors for the Ice cream. Vanilla and strawberry only” I said and the maid nodded her head in understanding before walking away.
I shifted my gaze to the maid who also asked about alcoholic wine or champagne for the servers “Tell the servers to place only champagne on the table. I don’t want kids getting drunk at my kids birthday” I instructed and she walked away.
Children are a very interesting yet exhausting set of human beings. A kid could see her father sipping champagne and would throw away her ice cream and request that her father give her a sip of his drink.
That could happen here and if it does, the parent would be safe to give his or her child a sip without worrying too much. Though champagne wasn’t still advisable for kids just a little sip won’t do any harm.
I sighed in exhaustion as I placed my both hands on my waist, my eyes scanning my surroundings. Everything was falling into place just the way I wanted.
“Hey Mommy” Nicholas whispered in my ears and I almost jumped out of my skin in shock as I placed my right hand on my chest
“Honey you startled me,” I said, pouting my lips and staring at him with a sad look.
“I’m sorry Mommy,” he said, biting his lips nervously while locking his hands behind his back, behaving like a scolded child.
“Stop that,” I said, spanking him on his arms and he smiled at me with his bright blue eyes.
“So how is the planning going?” Nicholas asked, his eyes scanning the whole compound.
“Well, everything is in place except Fiona who still hasn’t arrived with any of the cakes,” I said, closing the gap between Nicholas and I as I adjusted his tie on his neck.
“And here I was thinking I was already late for the party,” Nicholas said then shifted his gaze back to me “You look very tired,” he said, placing his hands on my waist “and I don’t like it. This was the reason I suggested we hire_”
“We hired a planner right,” I said and he smiled
“Yes,” he replied.
“I’m fine honey. I’m even Happy that I’m strong and healthy enough to plan this for my kids. This was my dream for a long time” I said.
“To plan your kid’s birthday party?” Nicholas asked, raising an eyebrow.
“To plan Macy and Mason’s first birthday party so please let me do this. I will be fine” I said, adjusting his collar and placing my hand around his neck.
“Okay,” he said and placed a comfortable kiss on my lips. The kiss had a way of taking away some of my stress and I like how he kissed me in front of everyone.
“Hey guys” I heard Anthony’s voice behind me and I turned to look at Anthony who had a worried look on his face. “We have a problem”
Nicholas frowned at his statement and glared at him “What would that be?” Nicholas asked Anthony whose hands were shaking
“Anthony, say something,” I said anxiously.
“It’s Ethan. He is outside the gate entrance and he is demanding to see you” Anthony finally said and I could swear that my heartbeat paused for a second.
