Sophie’s pov
*three months later*
“You look so damn pretty Soph.” Ria sighed as she brushes the lip gloss on my lips.
I smiled. “Thanks Ria.”
She scowled. “Thank me later hoe, you’re going to ruin the lip-gloss. Again. ”
I giggled.
“You’re not supposed to curse out the bride today.” Mila rolled her eyes as she dabbed some tissue on her overly gloss lips.
She was a bit nervous today. That may have to do with the rumor she heard about Ryland going to propose to her today.
Don’t look at me, it wasn’t me who told her!
She heard it from Ria who heard it from Mitch. Mitch couldn’t keep his big mouth shut.
But then again, like Ria told us, she had her ways to get her boyfriend to tell her all the gossip.
“Keep quiet dora.” Ria snorted.
“No you shut it boots.” Mila retorted with a glare.
I let out an exhale. “Guys! Today is supposed to be where you two put down those swords.”
Mila sighs. “You’re right. ”
Ria groaned. “Ugh fine. But only for today.
11
I smiled happily.
Only to feel a slight kick in my stomach.
“Ooph. Looks like baby girl is kicking.” I giggled, placing my hand on my stomach.
Mila rushes over, bending down as she places her palm where the baby kicked.
She frowns unhappily. “I swear she stops kicking when she senses my hand on your stomach. Is she still mad about me eating that last donut the last time?”
I giggled.
Mila was referring to that day two weeks ago when I visited her and Ria at the apartment.
The two were again arguing about who had the better boyfriend. If I was being honest, it was dumb for them to be arguing about such stupid things. Ryland and Mitch were both good boyfriends.
Ria and Mila always looked for stupid and unnecessary things to argue like teenagers about. Hell scratch that, like preschool-
ers.
Well anyway, on with what I was saying, they were arguing like usual and I had gotten a sudden craving for that donut that was in Mila’s hand.
But when I was going to ask her for it politely, she bit into it and finished the entire thing in seconds angrily. That day, baby girl was upset that she didn’t get to taste that raspberry donut.
And the store Mila bought it from was also closed that day, so baby girl refused to move around much the rest of the day. Mila of course thought baby girl was still angry with her.
I laughed. ” She’s been kicking a lot when Aiden and Ash put their hands on my belly.”
Mila pouts and glares at me. “You’re not making me feel better here Sophie.”
I playfully winced. “Sorry?” I offered.
“Get away from her Mila before you mess up her makeup.” Ria scolded.
Mila scowled. “Whatever.”
She moved away and started to apply more lipgloss on her lips.
Ria let out a huff. ” Girl you’re going to have big irritated lips if you keep that up.”
Mila whined. “You know this is all your fault. You shouldn’t have told me what Mitch told you. Now I feel like I’m running on adrenaline.”
“Then do vou want to hear the awesome sex me and Mitch had last night instead?” Ria suggested.
Mila scrunched up her nose and I bit into my bottom lip to suppress my smile. “Hell no!” Mila snapped.
“Well then shut the fuck up.” Ria snapped.
“Guys!” I whined.
Today was supposed to be a very happy day for everyone.
Aiden and I were finally going to get married without having to look over our shoulders anymore.
“Sorry.” Ria winced and then fixed my curls before leaning away to look at me. “I swear if you were not already pregnant, Aiden would definitely get you pregnant tonight.”
I smiled.
That day when I woke up in the hospital, Mila had given me bad news. Aiden was still unno one was sure he’d make it. The bullet hit a vital part.
I can still remember the gripping fear I felt when she told me those words. I can’t remember how much I cried. Tears were soaking my hospital gown.
I had asked Mila what happened. How did Aiden even end up in this condition.
Apparently Mr. Muralo saw Ryland in the car, went up to him and forced him out. Ryland had been smart to call 911 the second he saw the glimpse of the silver weapon.
He had placed the phone in his pocket and let Mr. Muralo bring him to Aiden’s penthouse where he saw Aiden, Lillian and an older woman holding Ashton.
From there, things escalated. Mr. Mural seeming to force a lawyer to marry Lillian and Aiden. But by then the cops had arrived and Mr. Muralo got furious. So of course it led to bloodshed with Aiden taking thbullet for his son.
After hearing how much of a hero he had been for our little boy, I wept even more, praying he pulled through.
Thank God a few minutes later, after I got to hug my son and receive news that my baby was okay, I got one of the best news afterward…… Aiden had made it. He pulled through.
“You look so beautiful Soph.” Mila smiled.
“Done by yours truly.” Ria pressed her palm to her chest causing Mila to roll her eyes.
“You two better not start arguing again.” I warned them.
The door opened before they could respond. Ingrid beams when she sees me, and yells behind her. “She’s done you two!”
She approached me after making that statement.
Seconds later my aunt and Meredith stepped into the room.
Their eyes glowed when they landed on me.
I turned around and smiled.
“If you look this beautiful with your makeup and hair done, I can’t wait to see you in your dress. ” Meredith gushed. “My son scored a big one with you Sophie. Damn, even I want to marry you now.” She winked, making everyone laugh.
“I don’t think your husband will quite like that Meredith.” I gig-gled.
“Oh he wouldn’t. But where would be the fun in that?” She grinned.
Everyone in the room laughed. For a few minutes we talked and I got ready to put on the dress.
Everyone stared at me in awe when I did.
“You look absolutely stunning Sophie.” Ingrid whispered.
Iblushed. “Thank you.”
“You look like cinderella.” Aunt complimented.
I flushed even more. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and smiled faintly.
I could only hope Aiden would have the same reaction as they did when they saw me.
They joked about Aiden not being able to keep his hand off me.
Which in seconds had me so red, Ria was glaring at me for ru ining the blush she had already placed on my cheeks.
We talked for a few, my heart skipping the closer the time ap-proached.
Ashton was with his dad. My little bugger was the ring bearer. I wouldn’t see him until I’m out.
Three months ago, I didn’t think I’d live to see this day.
Three months ago, I was in the clutches of the enemies, ended up on the brink of death and almost lost our precious baby.
But God had other plans. Our story wasn’t done yet.
Lillian and her dad got arrested, and Christopher, apparently the cops shot him when he wouldn’t comply. He was pronounced dead in a few hours after battling for his life.
After a couple of weeks we got news that Mr. Muralo had gotten beaten up pretty badly in jail. He ended up with a broken spine and was in critical condition.
He’s unable to walk.
As for Lillian, her time spent in jail was short-lived. She ended up hanging herself because ‘she couldn’t live without Aiden’.
For an entire month the media fed on everything that happened.
We were the talk on social media, on news channels and in magazines.
Thankfully, the buzz died out the second month. It opened the possibility of Aiden and me finally tying the knot.
He was, of course impatient. Especially with the Muralo’s out of the way. But he also wanted this one to be perfect and less rushed than the other.
So after a couple weeks of planning… we were finally going be husband and wife.
A knock sounds on the door. Ingrid tells whoever was behind the door to come in. They do.
I smiled when I saw it was Michael. He smiled back, his teeth flashing happily. “Oh Sophie…. you look so lovely.
I flushed, smiling at him. “Thank you.”
He looked down at his hand and I noticed he had a small note in his hand. “Here. Aiden wanted me to give this to you.” He approaches me and passes the paper over to me.
“He wants you to read it privately. We should head out. ” He looked at everyone in the room. Looking back over at me, he continued. “I’ll meet you outside when you’re done.
After that everyone left me in the room.
I looked down at the paper, a bit frightened that it was a runaway letter.
With shaky fingers I opened the paper.
– I bet you look so damn beautiful right now baby. I can’t wait to see you. When you walk down that aisle I’ll be right there, waiting for you. I won’t promise I won’t cry Soph. You know I’m not an emotional person but when it comes to you, you know you bring out this soft side in me (don’t tell anyone that baby, I need to seem tough)
I giggled, my eyes tearing up as I continued to read.
I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you and our babies Sophie. Meet me on the altar, I can’t wait to kiss you when we both say I do. Love you my little Soph- Love Aiden.
1 folded back the paper and sniffled. If Ria sees me right now, she’d throw a fit. With a wide smile on my face, I push the pa per in my bag safely and walked towards the door.
Michael sees my teary eyes and his face darkens with worry.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen-
I shook my head, smiling widely as I stepped out of the room.
“No, everything is perfect.”
Michael’s face relaxed with relief and he held out his elbow for me to take. “Well let’s get you to your husband.”
I giggled, my heart singing as we make our way to the ceremo-ny.
Everyone had gone and they were only waiting on me to walk down the aisle.
The huge wooden doors were the only thing separating Aiden and me.
“You’re shaking,” Michael noted, one of his hands patted my hand.
I smiled shakily. “I’m scared I’lI trip.”
Michael smiled. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you.”
And as soon as those words were out of his mouth, the huge doors parted.
I gasped in awe at the place.
The wedding planner did her big one on this. She did it exactly how Aiden and I pictured it.
Heaven was the theme.
There were four huge arches lined before the altar. All four with purple and white flowers. But that wasn’t what I was in awe about, it was the fog machine creating the illusion that we were on clouds, a string of a bright yellow light crawling up to the altar made this place feel like heaven.
My eyes saw him instantly and from here, I can see him getting emotional.
The music starts and my heart skips when Aiden smiles at me.
Taking one step in felt like I was literally on cloud nine. It felt surreal to walk through the fog toward my future.
With one hand I gripped the flowers, with the other I hold on to Michael for dear life, hoping I’d not trip and fall.
When I got to Aiden, my heart refused to calm down. I passed the bouquet to Michael as Aiden took my hand.
His eyes said it all. He loved how I looked. They flashed with tenderness and fondness, gleaming emotionally.
He was tearing up at the sight of me and cleared his throat. He pulled me closer to him, whispering in my ear as we approach the priest ahead.
“You look so ravishing right now Sophie. Absolutely beauti-ful.” He gave me a quick chaste kiss on my cheek.
I flushed, smiling at him. Aiden was so handsome in his suit and tux. And when he smiled at me so tenderly when I walked down that aisle over to him… all I could think about was what will happen tonight.
That glint in his eyes promised so much for tonight that I shiv-ered.
We stood facing each other, our eyes not once leaving the other’s face. We were in our little own world as the priest spoke.
Aiden had that goofy smile on his face and I was sure I was sporting mine.
When it was time for our vows, Aiden was the first to go.
His eyes shone with love so pure, it made me teary.
He took in a shaky breath and recited his vow.
“Sophie. My little Sophie. The first time I set my eyes on you, I knew you were meant for me. You had that pretty smile that always managed to make my heart skip. Those shy eyes that made me fall even harder. Years ago I didn’t think it was possible to get the woman I love. Years ago I would laugh at myself for even thinking you’d finally see me. I tried many ways to get your attention, of course some weren’t the right way.” He chuckles making me giggle slightly remembering how he practically bullied me to get my attention.
“I’ll admit I didn’t think I deserved a second chance, I didn’t.
But I craved one. I craved you. The truth is, my heart had been waiting for you for years. That organ has been beating for you since I first set my eyes on you and it will keep beating for you until my very last breath. I love you Sophie Bell. With everything in me.”
By the time he was done, tears rolled down my cheeks. I was certain Ria was having a fit.
The chorus sounds of awes going around made me flush even more.
When it was my turn to say my vows I thought I’d be terrified to utter anything with a crowd hanging on to my every word.
But turns out, when Aiden was beside me and our eyes con-nected, things were just a lot better.
“Aiden. I can’t say you were not the most annoying guy in school back then.” I grinned and he grinned sheepishly.
” But that’s what made me fall even harder for you. Those teas-es, the way you looked at me. You tried to hide it, but I saw.
Back then, I didn’t want to believe it. I didn’t want to think that those lingering stares meant anything. But deep down I knew.” I shyly looked down at his lips.
“And when you kissed me for the first time, I knew that I also shared those feelings too. It wasn’t you alone Aiden. You were not the only one to fall. I’m just glad you caught me. And I know in my heart you’ll keep catching me. I love you Aiden and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you and our growing family.” I place my hand on my stomach and gave a watery smile.
“By the power invested in me, you may-
Aiden takes a step forward, wraps his arm around my middle, and pulls me flush against him.
“God I love you.” He whispered and slammed his lips on mine before the priest could finish his words.
Everyone cheered and I smiled through the kiss. “You’re so hasty.” I whispered jokingly.
“With you, I’m always hasty. You’re the girl I’ve always craved ”
End.
