Chapter 119

Book:Her Alpha's Rejected Mate Published:2024-11-25

Kiara’s POV
“You think I should say something?” I asked Pandora. She was carrying my baby and rocking her gently.
“No, I don’t think so, but you should not let Eric be close to you and your baby anymore. Once he knows that he has nothing to lose, he could launch a full-blown attack on you two.” She said and I agreed with her.
“He is only interested in money and anything that makes me sad. I can’t believe such a person was mated to spend the rest of his life with me.” I sighed, but my mind could not stop imagining the face of Wilson.
He was the only man that I wanted to be with right now, but I felt that it was the wrong time to give expressions to such feelings.
Wilson was obviously not having a good time right now, and I could not complicate things further for him by dumping my emotions on him.
His mom was the mastermind of a murder that had happened in this pack. One that involved one of the most important sets of people in the pack. His sister was also involved in this mastermind even though she has been found now, we all knew what was going to come after.
“I know. He is not a good person at all. To think that I actually thought that he would be better in treating you nicer than everyone else. He is such a disappointment.” Pandora scoffed and I merely shook my head.
“You know, I think that I should go far away from here. At least for now. Just find somewhere and take care of the child all alone. It’s not like I can’t afford to do that right now with how much you and Rolan have helped me.” I spoke up again, voicing out my feelings.
It was a thought that I had held on to for the past few weeks, wanting to desperately escape from the reality that I had built for myself here.
“Go away from here? Why? This place is safe, and you have all the people you love here.” Pandora walked closer to me, her eyes widening with shock at what I had said.
“I know Pandora. I’m not leaving because I am unhappy with my life here, I just want a change of scenery. This would have me raise my child in a less toxic environment and Eric would no longer have access to me like he does now.” I explained to her, hoping she saw the reasons with me.
“Why did you reach out to Eric yourself even when you knew that there was a possibility of the child not being his?” She asked me, and to be honest, I had been waiting for her to ask long before now.
“He is the only father of my child that I do know. I needed his support whichever way.” I replied in a dismissive tone, hoping that was enough to tell Pandora that this was an icy topic that I was not yet ready to discuss.
“Alright. That makes sense. Do you want to try to find out the real father if Eric turns out not to be the father of the baby after the DNA test comes in?” She asked me again.
“Yes. I will have to. Maybe if I go back to the bar, I will be able to find something that can tell me about him. I can’t believe I am in this situation.” I buried my face in my palm, the embarrassment washing over me.
“There’s nothing that wants to happen that has not happened already. We will get to the root of this, and you will be just fine at the end of it all.” She assured me and stood up again to rock my baby, seeing that she was restless even in her sleep.
There was a knock on the door and I responded to the person knocking to come in. Wilson eased the door open and walked in, his eyes swollen from not getting enough sleep.
“Hello, Ladies.” He greeted us calmly and went to Pandora to take the baby from her. He took the baby carefully and cradled her and within a few seconds, she was calm and back to sleep.
“How did you do that?” Pandora asked him while I was still trying to find my tongue after being shocked by this presence in my chambers.
Pandora had told me that his sister had returned, and she was not in good shape at all. He was the last person that I had been expecting to see showing up here today. There was something oddly familiar about him. It almost felt like I knew him much more than I remember.
“I don’t know. I guess she likes me.” He whispered with a shy smile on his face, avoiding my eyes deliberately.
“How is your sister?” I asked him and noticed his scowl darkened and his grip on the baby got firm.
“She is fine. She should be fully recovered by the weekend.” He replied curtly and handed over the baby back to Pandora.
“I only came to say hello, I will have to take my leave now. The Alpha and I have something to take care of.” He said calmly, but I knew that he was leaving because I had mentioned his sister.
“Thank you very much for stopping by, it was really thoughtful of you,” I greeted him while Pandora nodded her head in acknowledgment.
My eyes trailed him as he walked out of my room and had me wishing that I had never mentioned anything about his family at all.
It was not the right time to ask him that as I could imagine how sore of a topic it would be for him to talk about.
“You like him?” Pandora’s voice cut into my thoughts and I blushed furiously that she had caught me right in the throat and there was no denying it.
“I don’t. It’s just a pity, he must be going through so much.” I waved my hands dismissively, masking my desire with a nonchalant tone.
