Pandora’s POV
The twins did not stop crying, it was almost like they knew how sad I was too. I was tired and Rolan was on his way back to her palace with Wilson.
I was nervous as to how he would take the news of his sister’s change and his mom’s betrayal. I was still jumping around nervously when I heard Kiara’s voice from downstairs.
Putting on my flip-flops, I hurried downstairs, leaving my kids in the care of the numerous nannies that Rolan had hired to make things better for me.
“The butler called me. Where are the kids?” She asked me as soon as she saw me, hurrying to meet me halfway through the stairs.
“I don’t know why they won’t stop crying. I have done everything I know but nothing is calming them down.” I cried tiredly and fell into her arms.
“It’s okay. I am here now. Let’s go and meet them, let’s see if we can find out what exactly is wrong with them.” She said, holding me by my arm and leading me back to my chambers.
“Ashley has not been found. I am so worried about her, I really feel like she is just being forced to do this against her wish.” I sighed and Kiara looked at me like I had gone crazy.
“She killed a man, Pandora. Stop making excuses for her because she knows what she is doing, and you have been aiding her unknowingly. She knows how much you trust her and is relying on that to do whatever she wants.” Kiara snapped at me and I quieted down.
She had a point, any sane person would see the point that she was making after hearing everything that Ashley had done. Her mom had found her way out of the psychiatric facility and had even given a command that her replacement kill me on sight.
“I know, but I still don’t know why can’t I shake off the feeling that something is terribly wrong somewhere, and she has been deceived,” I argued weakly and Kiara hissed.
The twins had calmed down and had even fallen asleep. Kiara placed them carefully in their cot before walking to me and sitting on the sofa, beside me.
“Yes. I agree with you that something like that could have happened, but you also have to remember that someone has lost their lives because of this and Ashley is grown enough to know what is wrong from what is right. You need to start seeing her for what she is doing, not who you knew her to be before now.” Kiara said in a tone that made me understand that I didn’t have anything else to say.
“Alright. Thank you for the kids. I was already going crazy. There was nothing that I did not try to get them to sleep, but they refused and after some time, the crying started. I have a crazy headache now.” I groaned and held my throbbing forehead.
“What about Rolan? The guards told me that he was not in the palace.” Kiara asked me.
“He has gone to get Wilson, Ashley’s only brother. A lot has happened since he was imprisoned. I told Rolan to get him out so that we can all decide what to do next.” I responded and clutched my banging head.
“Is the headache so bad? You look so pale, almost like you are about to pass out,” she asked me and stood up to place a hand on my forehead to check my temperature.
“This is why the kids were crying. It’s because of how you feel. You don’t know that kids have a way of reading and feeling everything that is going on with you.” She sighed and stood up, walking out of the room.
A few seconds later, I could hear her barking orders to some servants to get me some things. It was at the same time that I heard Rolan’s voice and immediately jumped out of the chair, hurrying to meet him.
“Alpha, I think we should circle the borders. They didn’t use the airport or the train station, so my best guess is that they are on foot. That would be the best option for them now.” I heard Griffin telling Rolan and another figure was seated on the chair, looking straight at me. It was Wilson.
He had not changed much, he only had a murderous glint in his eyes now. I wondered if he was angry with me for turning my back on him even though I tried my best to repay his family for the good that they did to me.
“Pandora, how are you?” Rolan asked and I jolted.
“I’m fine. Welcome.” I answered and hurried to hug him down the stairs.
He held me for a while before pulling away slowly.
“Do you have a headache because your body temperature is so high?” He asked me and I nodded my head slowly.
“Have you taken anything for it?” He asked again.
“Kiara is around. She is setting up some things that I can use to make myself feel better.” I responded and as if summoned by her name, she appeared behind me.
“Welcome back Alpha.” She greeted Rolan who gave her a nod of acknowledgement.
“Thank you. Let me speak to you for a moment. Wilson, come with us.” Rolan gestured to him and led me upstairs to his study.
“Wilson, how have you been?” I asked, my voice shaky as soon as we were alone in the room.
“It’s not your fault. I do not blame you for anything nor do I have a grudge against what you had to do. I just need to get my sister away from that crazy woman.” Wilson answered with a small smile on his face.
Whatever Rolan had told him before they got here was enough to soothe his emotions, I looked at him, trying to see if he was hiding how he truly felt, but there was nothing. I heaved a sigh of relief.
“Zach is also my biological father,” Wilson announced, and my mouth opened in shock.
