Chapter 55: Pandora’s POV

I was worried that I had not seen or heard from Wilson or Ashley after they both rushed out of my room yesterday. I had only seen Mrs. Edna and she seemed slightly different.
Even the conversations I had with her were a bit stiff, and she seemed to be rushing to go somewhere.
She had snapped at me when I asked what the problem was, and I just figured that it might be a bad day for her. I kept my mouth tightly sealed until she stormed off soon after.
I tried to reach Ashley and Wilson to find out if everything was okay with Mrs. Edna but their lines both went straight to voicemail. I simply shrugged and tried to sleep.
While I slept, I had a dream that Wilson was eating my children from my stomach, he had the dead one’s umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and his paw dug into my intestines. I woke up with a start to find Wilson’s gray eyes staring at me intently.
I jumped and screamed. He immediately rushed to my side.
“Hey preggo, I’m sorry. I came in like that. You were sleeping and shaking, so I would rather not jolt you out of sleep. That would have scared you more. Are you okay? You seemed like you were having the worst dream of your life?” Wilson said, and I tried to calm myself down so I didn’t give away the nightmare I just had, considering that he seemed to have been the main character of it.
“Oh, nothing. I just wasn’t expecting anyone in my room. I did not hear you come in, why did you sneak up on me?” I asked him, hoping that the terror I was feeling inside was not showing on my face.
“I knocked, you did not answer. I got worried that something might have gone wrong considering that no one has really been available to check on you since yesterday. I came in and saw you shaking. I was trying to decide if you were fine or having a bad dream when you woke up and caught me staring right at you. I know that was creepy, I am sorry.” He apologized and I began to doubt if he was the same man that I just dreamt about.
The words of Mrs. Edna rang back in my head and I began to see the traces of the disorder that she had talked about. I shifted nervously on my bed, worried that the nightmare might actually come to pass while I was here in the hospital. I sat up and even though I felt a searing pain shoot through my body, I managed to sit up anyway.
“Oh, that’s fine. What are you doing here?” I asked and realized that I was asking the wrong question, I tried to correct myself, but he beat me to it.
“What am I doing here?” Wilson asked me, his face shocked and his eyes round with surprise.
“I am sorry, that is not what I wanted to ask. Since I just woke up, I am still a bit grumpy. Do not mind whatever I say.” I said, hoping that that was enough to salvage the situation.
He looked at me long and hard, a look that felt like he was peeling my skin off my body. I shivered again and covered my body with the hospital sheet.
“Are you okay, preggo?” He asked me, his meticulous gaze scrutinizing me as he went up and down my body with his eyes.
“I am fine. Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked, wondering what he was really searching for with his eyes.
“I just want to make sure that you are fine. What do you think that I will be looking at?” He asked me, a corner of his mouth lifted, almost like he was mocking me with his question.
“Nothing. I just did not like it. Could you please stop looking at me like that? It is really creepy and discomforting” I said, and my face hardened to let him know that I was not playing around, as I meant every word that was coming out of my mouth.
“Okay. I won’t. I came here to talk to you about something else. You can choose to listen to me or think that I am here to stare at your body, I honestly do not care. We will get you a new place in the pack to stay. Since you will be staying here now, you will also have to blend well with everyone in the pack. Pending the time you regain your memory, so that, just in case you do not, you would have settled up here pretty nicely. Ashley will bring you the rest of the details. Have a lovely day!” He said harshly and walked out, slamming the door hard so I knew that he was really upset.
I heaved tiredly. I do not like being emotionally exhausted like this, it makes me really rude, and I make most of my bad decisions whenever I feel like this.
Something flashed in my head again, and I began to have the headache that I used to get whenever I remembered something. This time, I tried my best and eased into the pain, bearing it one moment at a time.
The memories began to flood my head. It was like a lot of people were gathered, and I heard someone reject another person. I tried to see more, but all I saw was that my mate had rejected me. I did not see anyone’s face, but I knew that my name was Pandora.
I passed out from the pain I felt when I tried to remember more. My body felt weak and as I slipped into the darkness, I heard Wilson’s voice in the distance, it seemed like he was calling for help and shaking me.
“Wake up Preggo! Don’t sleep on me!” He begged.
“Pandora,” I whispered before I saw all black.
