Chapter Eight: Pandora’s POV

“Alpha Rolan? You’re an Alpha?” I asked, my jaws slackening in surprise as I made way for him to address the hefty men who had come to summon him.
“Is there any problem with the pack?” He asked, his voice taking on a deeper tone than I was used to.
“No, there isn’t. It’s just that your presence is needed at some meetings and I can’t pull it off anymore,” The leader who had knocked on the door said.
His poised resembled that of a Beta and I wondered if he was one. Even though I was angry that he hid his status from me, I felt elated that an Alpha liked me and spent a night with me.
He didn’t abandon me like I expected him to.
“You can leave with them, Griffin, I’ll come on my own.” He instructed them but they didn’t bulge.
“But we came to escort you back to the pack,” Griffin said, causing Rolan to scowl at him. He bowed in apology while I marveled at the level of respect these men had for him.
“I’m giving you an order, Griffin. I’ll return when I’m ready, besides, I have unfinished business here.” Rolan ordered, his body tensing as he placed his hand at the back. A pose that most leaders liked to use to show authority.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. We will leave now,” Griffin bowed and ordered the rest of the men to return back to the pack.
I stalked out of his sight and headed for his room to pack my stuff that had been flung in several directions during a night of passion. He held my arm, but I pushed him away while searching for my thong.
“Were you ever going to tell me who you are?” I began, folding my arms as I stared into his orbs.
“I was going to tell you but they interrupted me.” He replied, his voice filled with remorse.
A scoff left my lips as I shrugged. “Why didn’t you tell me last night at Eric’s party? I’m very sure that you wouldn’t have told me anything if your pack members didn’t interrupt.”
He pulled me to the bed and gave me an irresistible smile. My lips twitched but I did everything to hold it back since I wasn’t done with my interrogation.
“I was going to tell you. Last night, you were going through a lot and I just felt that telling you who I was wouldn’t help. I would never lie to you again.” He apologized and lifted both of my hands to his lips, planting kisses on each.
Something occurred to me which got me wondering why he was explaining things to me when I was nothing to him.
“There’s no need to explain anything to me, Rolan. I get that we had a nice conversation last night and the sex was good at least for the first time, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself and start imagining things.” I said nervously, hoping that he wouldn’t agree with what I said.
“Nonsense! You think I just slept with you for fun?”
My heart leaped with joy and anticipation. If it wasn’t for fun, what then did he want?
“Then why are you explaining? What’s going on?”
He hesitated and squeezed my hands.
“Pandora, I don’t know what pushed me to meet you but I felt a strong connection as soon as we started talking. The urge to make you happy and protect you filled my head. And when we made love, it was like an icing on the cake. I can’t give my feelings a name yet, but I’m very sure that I want you to be by my side as my Luna.”
His words were tender and so was my heart. My ears tingle at his heartfelt expression. He wanted me to be his Luna?
“I don’t think I can be your Luna, Rolan. I’m from a lowly background and I don’t think I have what it takes. Let’s just stay away from each other,” I said and wore my dress and slid my handbag on my shoulder.
“What do you mean, Pandora?” He was appalled but I just couldn’t do as he wanted.
“Good bye, Rolan.” I said in a rush and stormed out of the house so that he wouldn’t catch up with me.
I hailed a taxi with the little cash I had left and gave him my house address. He dropped me off some minutes later and I strolled to the porch. Deep down, I wanted to return to him and tell him that I would be his Luna, but I wasn’t sure my parents would accept it.
I was their only child and they needed me around them.
Slowly, I raised my hand and knocked on the door. Footsteps rang from the hallway to the living room and I guessed it to be my mother.
The door swung open and my mother gazed at me in surprise. She opened the door wider so that I could go in.
“Good morning, mom,” I greeted and my lips stretched in a yawn.
“Where have you been Pandora? We’ve been calling you since but there was no response and your father was just about to leave the house to search for you.”
My heart nearly split into two at her words. They would have been more worried if I’d run off like that.
“I’m sorry for that, mom.” I apologized, lacking words to say next.
She scrutinized me from my head to toe, then pulled me toward our armchair for a lengthy round of interrogation.
“Where did you sleep last night?”
“Kiara’s house.” I blurted as she tilted her head in obvious disbelief.
“Are you sure?”
I smiled and placed my head on her chest. “Where else do you expect me to sleep, mom? I don’t have many friends.”
My father came out of his room and approached me with a disapproving look on his face. I couldn’t blame him for staring at me that way anyways.
He was about to say something, maybe reprimand me when we heard a knock on the door.
“I’ll get it,” My mother said and she hastened her pace towards the door.
She opened it and after exchanging some inaudible words with the person, she glanced at me with surprise evident in her expression and said, “The Alpha of White moon pack is here.” before taking a step back and allowing the person to enter our home.
