Angie POV
After my awkward encounter with Ayann, I finally left my bed and went to Ava’s room.
As soon as she recognized me, she cried, and I held her in my arms and showered her face with kisses. I felt like a terrible mother for neglecting her and ignoring my responsibility as a mother, but I’m here now, and I won’t leave my baby Ava again. I need to be strong for her, and for Mason, she’s the fruit of our love. As Ayann said, I can’t believe he came along to comfort me and apologised for his mistakes.
Does that mean he’s regretting mating with Charlotte? He doesn’t love her anymore?
He looked sad and heartbroken.
I wonder what happened to them ?
” Angie Mason is awake ”
I never heard my mother entering the room.
It took me a minute to absorb what she was saying.
“Mason is awake, Mason is awake ” Tears of joy and reality streamed down my face .
I gave a sleeping Ava to my mother and hugged her, then I ran to the pack’s hospital.
My heart was beating with excitement about seeing Mason again .
I unlocked the door and entered the room. I found him lying on the hospital bed looking pale, and the doctor beside him, checking his vitals.
” How is he ”
” luna” he bows
” Alpha is perfectly fine. He can leave the hospital tomorrow ”
” I will take my leave ” he bows and leaves the room.
” Mason ”
I flung myself into his arms, pulling his face down to spread kisses across his features.
” I missed you terribly ” I cried.
” I thought I lost you forever ”
” I missed you too, sweetheart ”
I tightened my arms around him in a bear hug.
I rested my nose on the crooks of his neck and smelled his natural scent deeply.
We stood in each other’s embrace, and no words needed to be said. I yielded to the warm, strong hug, my frame moulding against his.
Then I remembered he had just woken up from a two-week coma. He was still vulnerable.
I broke from the hug and gently pushed him back against the mattress.
” You need to rest baby ”
” I have been resting now for two weeks, the doctor has already told me. ” he whined
” Still, you’re not fully recovered.”
” I thought I lost you forever ” sobbing
I held his hand and kissed it
“Shh, baby, I’m here now . Stop crying ”
“How’s my baby angel doing? Why didn’t you bring her with you? ”
“She is with my mother. I will bring her later for you to see her. ”
” Mason, how did this happen? Who wants to hurt you? ”
” I can’t remember anything. I was doing my daily run with Bet Matthew. We shifted to our wolf form, then we drifted apart as usual to take our run when I suddenly felt dizzy. Then I fainted, losing consciousness, then I don’t remember anything afterward. ”
” Matthew found you. Lost in your blood. Someone stabbed you in the heart with a silver knife and ran. It’s a miracle that you are still alive. ”
” I think someone spiked my coffee that morning ”
” You mean there is a traitor in the pack? ”
” likely so ”
” We need to run a secret investigation into who’s the culprit behind your murder attempt”
Xander POV
I poured my drink, drinking my sorrow and self-pity.
I never thought that a day would come when I would get humiliated by my children.
I thought I had a perfect life with perfect children, but I was wrong.
I think I raised happy children with a straight, well mannered, a genuine personality.
I gave them the good life that other people dream of.
Maybe I was not paying enough attention to them. Maybe I was not a good father, after all
I’m a king and I have a big responsibility. Taking care of the kingdom was a huge part of my daily life, but I always made sure to spend a decent amount of time with my family. I never missed any important event regarding their life.
How did I miss Angie’s sadness and suffering?
My poor baby handled the pain of rejection alone, and I know how hard it is to be rejected by your mate. I lived with the pain for 5 years when Gianna left me.
I’m glad she found Mason and the moon goddess blessed her with a second chance mate and their beautiful pup Ava
How missed Charlotte’s mental health issues?
I always thought she was a little bit spoiled, nothing more, she had hurt the people she was supposed to love, her sisters, her fated mate and her husband .
My goodness, how will I fix this mess !?
I miss my love, my mate, my partner in life.
I miss her presence in my life, I wish I was in her arms right now and her telling me that everything would be alright.
I don’t know how to handle this alone .
I need her to tell me the right thing to do.
My phone rings, and I smile widely.
” Hello, my love ”
” Did you miss me? ”
” You have no idea how much I missed you. You will know when you get here”
” I have good news for you. Mason had woken up. The girls managed to save him. ”
” Oh, thank you, moon goddess, finally something good to hear. I’m happy for Angie and Ava”
“I’m coming tomorrow with Linda and the twins. ”
” I’ve got some good news for you. I found Charlotte and Gianna ”
“Oh my god Xander, is that true, my goodness, you made me so happy. I’m so proud of you and thank you moon goddess. I think our lives will go back to normal with Mason’s survival and rescuing the girls. How, when , and where did you find them? Tell me more !” she cried.
“Well, we found them, me and Ayann, 3 days ago.”
” What, and you decide to tell me?! ” She yelled through the phone.
“Call down baby, when you come back I will explain everything to you.
