Chapter 104

Book:Alpha Arthur, She is mine Published:2024-11-24

Beta Bronson;
Sitting with my chin resting on my palm, my eyes fixed on Malicia. She is lying down on my bed, still unconscious. There has been no improvement since we arrived, or rather, there is little. Her wounds are healing, and I’m glad the scars are also fading away with the wounds.
I know her wolf is playing a major role in healing her aside from the healers.
But my major concern is the fact she hasn’t moved any part of her body since we brought her here. Not even a finger. I hope she survives this. I know she will. I just have to be positive about everything, and just trust in the Goddess.
My only option is to wait, and I choose to wait right at her bedside even though I’m not meant to be here. There is a huge responsibility out there in the pack waiting for me. A responsibility Alpha Blade created for me because of his recent state of mind.
He has been drinking, getting drunk for the past two days after he found out the truth about Jasmine and Leona. He is very mad at himself over everything. I get the fact his actions of getting drunk sound irresponsible but he has the right to act this way. I know and understand how he feels.
The betrayal from both ladies is much on him.
First, Jasmine killing the young Luna and making Alpha Blade’s life miserable cause of her fucking stupidity. She was with him all these years, watching him suffer for a crime he never committed. Just for her selfish gains.
Her only concern is to be his Luna. She didn’t even care about her son, and ways it would affect him also. I know what it will be like for the young child. Growing up and finding out your father killed a young Luna and for that cause, the pack is indebted to the Luna’s pack for life.
Everyone will make mocking of him not minding the fact he’s royalty. Sometimes, there are some messes you will find yourself in and people will have no choice but to look way above your title. They will treat you based on your crimes or the crimes of your parents. Jasmine didn’t fucking give a thought about all of it.
I will just say, she is too desperate, evil, and selfish to even care about others.
As for Leona. Her betrayal was the worst on Alpha Blade. Leona has been the only lady Alpha Blade has come to love ever since he was a boy. His hatred for Alpha Arthur was because of her. Who would have thought she was a devil? She will go as far as taking someone’s life.
Not just someone, but the life of the princess of this pack. She made Alpha Blade, his household, and the rest of us bleed for years. I still recall how our pack felt like a standstill for months after the news of the princess’ death was brought to our notice.
We had all thought that the Lycans did it, or an enemy pack. Never will I have ever imagined that it was one of our own. The very lady Alpha Blade has done basically everything in this life for. This is a very sad one.
So, yeah!!! He has the right to be drunk. Stay away from his duties and nurse his broken heart. I feel so sorry for my Alpha and Best friend. I share in his pain, but I have more pain facing me also – Malicia. She has to be alright. The Goddess forbids that she doesn’t make it.
Cause I don’t know what I will do if she dies.
“Beta Bronson,” the healer from my pack, seeks my attention.
“Yes,” my head moves upward, and my eyes meet with hers.
“I think you need to go have a rest now. You’ve been sitting at her bedside for days, taking good care of her. You’ve not had any food or water. I understand you are a Beta wolf and very powerful, but every man has his breaking points,” she strolls toward me to take the bowl of water I’m holding from me.
Pressing the bowl hard, stopping her from moving it, “You don’t need to worry about me. I’m fine. I think you’re the one who needs to have a rest. You and the healer from the NightShade pack has been working tirelessly on Malicia. Go have a rest, I will look after her.”
“But you’ve been looking after her, Beta. And permit me to speak,” she bows her head.
I softly sigh, “Speak.”
“I heard the Alpha is not feeling quite well and has been absent from his duties. It’s only lawful for you to be at his mansion and take over the pending duties. You are not meant to be here. I’m sorry if my words overstepped their boundaries,” she speaks her truth.
“There is nothing to be sorry about. I know and understand your concern. I will return to Alpha Blade’s mansion soon, but please just let me take care of her a little more.”
Pleading with her is my only option. However, I know she can’t chase me away but I have to respect her. This is her office, and Malicia is her patient. At this moment, and as far as Malicia is concerned, the healer holds much power over me right now.
She and the other healer are my only hope, and the last I want is to mess around with them.
“Beta, you know I don’t have the right to decide if you should stay back or leave. Forgive me if my words came out wrongly,” she utters.
I understand what she is trying to avoid – punishment. But that’s the last thing on my mind.
“It’s fine. You can leave now,” in a calm voice, I order her.
She bows her head once again, and steps away.
Picking up the bowl which is closer to my thigh, I deep my fingers inside and pull out the little wet towel. Squeeze the towel dry, before placing it on Malicia’s forehead. It will help her fever to calm down.
This has been the constant thing we do with her to keep her body temperature in check. Her wolf is also weak and sick and can’t practically do much for her.
Cleaning the beads of sweat glistening on her forehead with the towel, I move it through her face then to her neck region. Wiping her sweat.
The atmosphere is very cold but Malicia is burning inside. It’s a result of the silver sword that Alpha Drakon used on her. The silver pierced through her stomach and out of her back. It hurt her wolf so badly and I know it won’t be easy for the both of them to heal from it.
Silver and wolfsbane are a wolf’s worst enemies. They kill us faster than anything else. In fact, they are the only weapons other species can use in defeating us. These two can bring down even a mighty Alpha king or a Lycan King.
I can only imagine how much pain Malicia is facing, and battling alone.
For the second time, I soak the towel
In the cold water, squeeze it and clean every part of Malicia’s face. After which, I place the towel on her forehead, so that the coldness of it can calm her running temperature a bit.
Pushing myself up, my hands are shoved right into my pockets as I stand, towering over her. My eyes fixed on her beautiful face. I just had to take this good look at my woman before I could leave to go fulfill my duties.
A soft sigh flees my mouth as I move my gaze away from her. About to step out when I feel fingers lightly drag my pants. My body comes to an instant halt. It was Malicia. Her fingers just touched me.
She is awake.
Snapping my face back in her direction, I softly gasp in excitement. Her eyes are wide open and she has this faint smile on her lips.
I rush forward in her, belting my arms around her, but making sure not to sting her wounds. “Thank you for waking up. Thank you so much,” my eyelids flicker as my eyes brim with unshed tears. This is the best moment of my life. A moment that the Goddess decided to answer my prayers.
Thank you, Goddess. Thank you, Malicia, for fighting your way through this and surviving. I’m so grateful. I doubt my heart will be able to contain this joy.
“She killed her,” Malicia suddenly utters in a faint voice.
“What?” I pull myself away. Just a little space between us. A space that helps me get a view of her face.
“Luna Chloe killed Princess Veronica in the dungeon. I’m innocent,” with these shocking words, Malicia’s eyes shut once again.
