Victoria
(The Wedding Day)
Disgust.
That was what I felt.
Disgust.
It hit me hard and strong like an alarm.
Something very glaring and persistent even though you hate it. It still doesn’t change the fact or go away.
I can’t turn it off.
I don’t know if this was actually as a result of my pregnancy that I was feeling disgust staring at myself in the mirror on my own wedding day.
It’s supposed to be my happy day. My excitement day. A great and fun filled day for me.
A day I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.
In my wedding dress.
This whole thing felt like a joke to me. A big fat joke.
And it’s on me.
I was going to be known as a married woman by the end of the day.
I wasn’t going to be a single girl anymore. I would be known as Alessandro Rossi’s pregnant wife.
Hot tears poured down from my eyes as I wiped them away immediately and applied more concealer to my cheeks and neck to hide Alessandro’s hand prints from my body.
I took extra caution in concealing my bruises from yesterday.
I can’t even bear to look at them and talk more of another person seeing them on my body. I’m very sure I’ll melt into a puddle and die.
Yesterday was a curse and I’m very sure about that now.
I just wanted to forget it and act like it never happened.
Like it was a bad dream that would soon fly away from my head and become nothing else but a distant memory that is meant to be forgotten.
I had played around with a gun because I thought Alessandro was knocked out of his senses by the headache and I fantasized about shooting off his dick which was the real reason why I landed in this mess.
I had acted like a mad woman and an easy woman yesterday in anger and I wished that I would have been unconscious by today so I could avoid this demon wedding, then I was also beaten and then saw hell at the hands of Alessandro.
Remembering yesterday gives me goosebumps today as I shook myself to get rid of the bad vibes.
“Knock knock”. I immediately jumped at the sound of the voice that startled me and brought me out of my thoughts.
“Valentino, please come in”. I said to him as I saw him leaning against the door with his hands behind his back.
“You look beautiful, Vic”. He said as he took a good look at my ivory floor length cowl neck silk dress that Alessandro specifically picked by himself.
“Thank you”. I said feeling embarrassed to be in front of him.
Maybe he also heard my outburst yesterday?
“This is for you”. He said, producing a bouquet of fresh flowers from behind him.
So that’s what he’s hiding behind there. How sweet and thoughtful of him.
“Thank you so much. I actually forgot about getting a bouquet. Thank you for this”. I said while sniffing the flowers.
“It’s no worries, beautiful”. He said nervously scratching the back of his neck with a nervous look on his face that made him give off a somewhat boyish charm.
I knew there was something else he wanted to ask.
“Is there something you want to say?”. I hope he wouldn’t say he heard me wantonly asking Alessandro to fuck me yesterday.
Now that would be very embarrassing.
I would literally dig a hole and fall into it. Yes, by myself.
“Niccolo kind of mentioned that he heard you shouting yesterday but Alessandro waved it off as nothing. Are you okay?”.
Thank God he didn’t even hear me call his name.
“Yes, we had a minor disagreement concerning something and I lost my cool and yelled at him. That’s all”. I smoothly lied.
I really hope he will buy it.
“Are you sure that you aren’t hiding anything from me Victoria? You know you can talk to me.
We haven’t been the closest these past few weeks and I know I sort of avoided you but I want you to know that I’ll always be here for you”.
I blinked to keep the tears away as I nodded with a tight smile on my face.
“I know, Valentino. I won’t hesitate to tell you if something is wrong”.
“Are you sure?”. He insisted.
“One hundred percent, Valentino”. I said with a bright smile.
“Come here”. He spread his arms waiting for me to walk into his embrace as I immediately ran into his arms and perceived his soothing scent.
I held him tightly while a secret part of me wished that it was him that I was going to be marrying today and not his asshole brother, Alessandro.
He placed a kiss on my cheek before he broke the hug and released me from his arms then took a few steps back creating a distance between us as he put his arms into his pockets.
Wow. Creating a boundary already? Great.
“Congratulations, Victoria ”. He said with a smile before nodding at me and walking out of the door.
Seeing his retreating back broke every resolve I had within me not to cry today as I felt the tears trickle down before I wiped them away and took a deep breath reminding myself that I was doing this for my baby.
This would give my baby a good life even if I have to suffer for it.
I walked out of my room and made my way to the living room where the wedding would be held.
I never dreamt of an overly lavish or grand wedding but I also never expected that I would be getting married in a living room on such short notice all because my groom felt he was being challenged and he had to prove a point.
“You look amazing dear”. Elena said
“Thank you”
“You’re so beautiful, Victoria!”. Bianca jumped up and down in excitement
“Thank you. You look gorgeous yourself”. I complimented her beautiful lilac dress.
“Thank you, Victoria”.
“I just hope that your son doesn’t end up killing this one too, Elena”. Fabiano said from where he sat on the couch with his legs crossed watching with excitement.
My eyes met Alessandro’s stone cold hard ones as he was staring at me intensely from where he stood with a priest and a lawyer.
“Good morning, Father”
“Good morning, Victoria. Let me offer my congratulations to you on your wedding”
“Thank you, father”
“Good morning, Ms Abbot”
“Good morning, sir”. I responded to the lawyer’s greeting.
“Can we begin?”
“Why not?”
“Please stand closely to each other”. The priest instructed.
Alessandro made a guttural sound at the back of his throat as he obviously hated that he was being told what to do.
I would have given anything on this earth just so I wouldn’t be close to this man today.
Actually forever.
Only our shoulders were touching but I still felt like I was burning up. I hated being beside him.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the joining of Alessandro Dante Rossi and Victoria Cecilia Abbot, in holy matrimony but before we begin, I would like to ask if there is anyone here who thinks that these two should not be married?”.
The whole room was quiet as I internally wished that someone would rise up from the witnesses and stop me from making a mistake of a lifetime.
Just like in the movies.
But then that was all in my head and this was obviously a glaring reality.
Nobody was going to save me. I was doomed to this now.
“In the absence of any interruption we will forge ahead. Do you Alessandro Dante Rossi, take Victoria Cecelia Abbot, as your lawfully wedded wife from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer or for poorer, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health forsaking all others according to God’s holy ordinance?”
“I do”
“Do you Victoria Cecilia Abbot, take Alessandro Dante Rossi as your lawfully wedded husband from this day forward, for better or for worse for richer or for poorer, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others according to God’s holy ordinance?”
Remember you’re doing this for your child, Victoria.
“Yes. I do”
I felt like I had signed my life away to Alessandro as every other thing just felt strange.
I could smell him celebrating his victory over me from where he stood beside me.
It was almost like I wasn’t there. Like an out of body experience.
Here but not here.
I looked at the ring that Alessandro slipped onto my ring finger and it was then that it dawned on me that I had just gotten married with no family present.
Not even my friends or any of the people I know personally were here for me. These were all Alessandro’s family. His people.
The sound of clapping brought me back to reality.
“You may now kiss the bride”.
“I’m quite sure my nephew has been waiting for this moment since this procession started”. I heard Fabiano say from behind us as Alessandro shot him a murderous look.
Alessandro then turned to me and held me by my cheek.
I slowly shook my head in a negative motion hoping that he would understand that I had no urge to kiss him.
He looked at Valentino before a look of mischief crossed his face.
No. No. No
He immediately leaned in and took my lips in a kiss that I wasn’t sure was appropriate for a newly wedded couple that had a priest right in front of them.
He drew me closer to his body wrapping his arm around my waist drawing me closer to his body and deepening the kiss more if that was even possible while the people behind us cheered and clapped.
I knew he was being petty and trying to get Valentino riled up. But what exactly did he think Alessandro was going to do?
Start a fight? I doubt that.
“Hello? Nephew? This isn’t the bedroom, you see”. Fabiano shouted in the background as Elena chastised him while Alessandro ignored him and continued kissing me like our lives depended on it.
Actually he kissed me like his own life depended on it because if my life depended on the duration of the kiss, it would have been much quicker than a peck.
My lungs needed air and Alessandro wasn’t making any move to stop any time soon.
If he continued like this then i was really going to faint due to lack of oxygen.
I stamped my foot on his foot and lightly pushed him in the chest before he slowly pulled away leaving my lips swollen and tingly.
I shot him a disgusted glare before he leaned in to whisper in my ear.
“You’re mine tonight and forever, Mrs Rossi”.
