(NFTMB)Chapter 63
Victoria
(The Wedding Dress)
I nuzzled my face deeper into the pillows as I felt someone softly shaking my body probably to wake me up.
Was it Alessandro?
Hadn’t he had enough?
Does he plan to kill me now and then marry someone new?
The claws of sleep were too strong and too tempting for me to escape from.
I have had a very terrible time and I need to sleep.
I turned to the other side ignoring whoever was trying to wake me up from my precious sleep.
“Victoria, hey wake up”. The voice gently said.
Wait a minute.
It can’t be Alessandro. He is never this gentle or soft-spoken.
If I had been kicked in the butt or bitten on my back or my ass I would have been sure that it was him but this person was just gently nudging me to wake up.
Yes, bitten in the butt, I said that, I know. He did that.
The voice was just very patient and would often giggle.
I ignored the voice after it stopped for a while.
Finally,
But then the comforter was dragged away from my body causing the cold to attack my bare body immediately.
Okay. That woke me up.
I bolted straight up to meet nobody else but Bianca standing with the snatched comforter in her hand with a naughty look on her face.
“Can you give me that?”. I requested stretching out my hand for her to place it in my hand.
“Good morning!”. She happily said as I folded myself to cover my body from her eyes.
“Good morning. Please hand over the comforter I obviously don’t have any clothes on”. I said once more, stretching out my hand while placing the other across my chest.
“Geez, loosen up. I’m a girl like you and besides you’ve got a gorgeous body. There’s nothing to be shy about”. She said with a smile on her face.
“Please give me that”. I insisted.
She stomped to my position like a child denied candy before throwing it over my body.
“Thank you”. I said before wrapping it around myself.
“Are you still mad at me for what I said back then?”. She asked coming to sit beside me on the bed with a nervous look on her face.
“Do you really need to ask that?”.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it that way. I hadn’t met you and I just thought that Alessandro had done what he does best again”. She said throwing her hands in the air.
“Well, that’s a compliment”. I said sarcastically.
“No, for what it’s worth, I’m really sorry and I would like us to be friends”. She said with a smile stretching out her hand for a handshake.
I eyed her hand suspiciously before eyeing her from head to toe while she still had a pleasant smile on her face.
I don’t know about this whole friends thing.
I just don’t like being insulted, that’s all. She didn’t really make a positive impression the first time we met.
Nevertheless, I had to accept her apology because of Alessandro. I don’t know what he would do if he finds out that I still haven’t forgiven her for what she did in the past.
I slowly took her hand and shook it firmly.
“That’s a huge relief”. She said while exhaling like she had run ten miles in a minute.
“Just don’t call or treat me like a whore next time”.
“Treat you like a whore? I’d never do that”. She said with confusion on her face. “Did I do that?”. She slowly asked after seeing the look on my face.
“We aren’t that close for you to strip me of the only item of covering I had on my body. Please, don’t do it next time”. I said sternly.
I wonder how this girl goes about doing things without actually knowing what she’s doing. She’s too aloof and too much of an empty head and a brat. She’s definitely not somebody I would like to be friends with.
I would just have to give this a trial because of her brother.
From the way Alessandro gets defensive when it concerns her, I can tell that he is the one doing the spoiling.
No wonder she’s so ill mannered and an empty head.
“Oh. I’m very sorry about that. I just thought it was funny and it would wake you up faster. I didn’t know that you wouldn’t have anything underneath. I apologize”. She said, pursing her lips with her face sullen.
“Well, I live with your brother, don’t I? That should have been enough heads up, Bianca. Besides, what if one of your brothers walked in on me naked?”. I asked angrily.
That would have been a nightmare and Alessandro would have blamed it all on me and punished me for it.
Before she could open her mouth to speak, a knock sounded on the door before Niccolo walked right in without being permitted.
See? I had survived this embarrassing moment by a tiny fraction of luck.
Had I not requested that comforter from her, Niccolo would have walked in on me naked.
Bianca looked at me in remorse before mouthing a sorry to me.
“Hey, Bianca, mother said I would find you here. The dresses have arrived oh my God! Victoria what happened to you? Put some fucking clothes on”. He said in surprise before turning his attention to his sister and not me.
“Well, I’m sorry but you all will have to direct those questions to your big brother. He should be in a better position to tell you why I am like this”. I said, gesturing to my hardly dressed self.
Bianca giggled before whispering something to Niccolo who frowned his face at whatever she said.
“Geez fucking christ, Alessandro!”. Niccolo muttered before stomping away and shutting the door behind him.
“Hey, get dressed and come downstairs. The dresses are ready including yours”. Bianca said with a smile before I nodded at her and she left.
I fell back on the bed and twisted and turned in frustration before standing up and making my way to have a bath and get ready for hopefully another day filled with family drama.
I didn’t have the time to dress to impress or cover up anything so I just threw on a pair of shorts and a tank top leaving my hair down to dry quicker.
I marched downstairs to meet them in the living room with a strange lady who wore a smile on her face.
“Good morning”
“Good morning”
“How did you sleep, Victoria?”. Elena asked with a smile on her face.
“Very well, Elena. You?”
“I had a good night”. She responded pleasantly.
We had called a truce over the last couple of weeks and have since settled on common ground.
She is a nice woman if you really get to know her. She’s just very over protective of her children.
Any mother would be. I know I would be overprotective of my little bunny as well.
Jasmine didn’t say a word to me as she sat sulking with her arms folded across her chest with a beautiful turquoise dress placed over her legs.
I was looking at the dress and its beautiful designs before she noticed me and became her usual bitchy self.
“What?! What are you looking at?! Did you happen to lose your dress last night?!”. She screeched.
“I never said I was missing a dress, Jasmine. I was admiring the dress you’re holding. It’s beautiful”
She just threw me an irritated look before ignoring my words and giving her attention to God knows what.
Mary emerged from the kitchen with a bright smile on her face before I ran into her arms for a hug.
“Mary!”
“Victoria, darling!”
“How I’ve missed you Mary!”. I said to her as I held her tighter against me.
“I missed you too, my sweet girl. How are you and your baby doing now, dear?”
I looked at my obvious baby bump as I rubbed my stomach happily.
“We’re both fine”. I said happily.
“I can see that. You’re perfectly glowing, my dear”
“Thank you, Mary, and how are you doing yourself? How is your health?”
“You know how it is, Victoria. Today I’m fine and tomorrow it aches here or there. But I’m doing well today. I’m quite strong and kicking”. She said with a smile.
“That is such a relief, Mary. I’m very glad that you’re back. Welcome home, Mary”. I said excitedly engulfing her in a hug once more.
“Such an attention seeker”. Jasmine sneered from behind me.
She muttered it but it was still quite audible for all of us to hear.
“Jasmine, shut the hell up okay?”. Bianca said in anger to which Jasmine just rolled her eyes.
“It would have been better for the rest of us if you had just remained deaf”. Bianca said.
I couldn’t help the laughter that erupted from my system at Bianca’s comment as Mary laughed as well.
“Yeah, so says the accomplice to murder”. She retaliated with a statement that caused absolute silence in the living room.
The strange woman had a confused expression on her face.
“Jasmine!”. Elena said.
“What now? Are you going to have your mama’s boy of a son bulldoze me to death now?”. She said while rolling her eyes.
“Get out of my sight now!”. Elena’s voice boomed in the living room.
A minute later and Jasmine was still sitting and checking her nails for invisible dirt.
“Nic!”. Elena called out a second later.
Immediately Jasmine sprang up from the seat and proceeded to walk away but she was too late.
Niccolo was already at the top of the stairs.
“Yes, mother?”.
“Jasmine is acting up again. Do find out what bothers her please”. Elena calmly said.
“Yes, mother”.
“Thank you”
“Get over here, Jasmine!”. Niccolo said, gripping her by the arm and dragging her upstairs as she yelled out incoherent things.
At this point I will give him a hug for slapping some sense into her.
Nobody was really paying attention.
“Forgive that minor embarrassment, Mrs King, she’s a bit loose in the head. Niccolo is the only one that can control her”. Bianca lied smoothly taking a sip of her coffee.
“That’s not a problem, Miss Rossi. Love heals a lot of things”
“Yes, it does. We are all lucky that she has someone like Niccolo in her life, taking care of her and making sure she never goes out of control and takes her drugs religiously to prevent scenarios like this”. Elena said in an elegant tone.
You can never tell that they were lying with how composed they were.
“Come on, dear. Come and fit your dress”. Elena ushered me to her side as the strange woman who I guessed was a fashion designer smiled in accordance.
Doesn’t it hurt to smile that much?
I walked over to the other side of the room and watched her produce a stunning white dress.
Another gift for a night well spent from Alessandro?
I’m getting sick of getting these gifts from him. This one is awfully creepy as it resembles a wedding dress.
He has found a new way of taunting me, I guess.
“What do you think?”. Bianca asked happily.
“It’s beautiful. It’s angelic. I’m almost too scared to put it on”. I laughed off the nervousness.
“Why is that, dear?”. Elena asked, sounding very concerned.
“Don’t you like it, madam?”. The stylist asked.
“Oh no! That’s not it! I love it but then it looks too much like a wedding dress so I’m kind of scared to put it on. I hope that makes sense”. I rubbed my arms while laughing.
They all looked at me like I had grown two heads.
“That’s because it’s your wedding dress, dear”. Elena explained.
“What?! I don’t understand”
“Didn’t Alessandro tell you?”
“Tell me what?”. I asked, feeling dread creeping up inside my belly.
“Your wedding is tomorrow, Victoria”
