(NFTMB)Chapter 49
Alessandro
(Pyramid Heights)
“What are you known for?”
“Keeping lunatics like you and your wife away from people like me is what we are known for. Is that enough answer for you?”
“You are really a narcissistic asshole, you know that? You and your outdated business methods will run this company to the ground, Rossi!”
“Stay mute if you have nothing meaningful to say, Castleford!”
“I will still air my views before it’s my money, it’s my time and it’s my reputation!”
“Bill, please continue the meeting”. I instructed Bill who nodded before continuing the presentation.
I don’t have the time to talk to lunatics like him.
“In my opinion, hiring influencers will bring in more commoners and we don’t need that. We need to brainstorm and find a possible way of getting only the rich and famous on board. Only the rich and famous, I repeat”. He said, wagging his finger in the air.
“Good thinking, Bill. I’m happy my resources aren’t bring wasted on you”
“Thank you, sir”
“Does that seem like a compliment to you, old man?”. Bernard asked under his breath.
“He knows his place and he understands a praise no matter the form it appears in. I can’t say the same for you”
“What a lapdog”
I purposefully ignored his stupid comment.
“All we need is a good enough reason to get the high class all in one room. I have a few in mind but before I speak about it, I would like for you all brainstorm and come up with different ideas now”
“Let the jokes begin”. Castleford muttered but I heard it loud and clear.
“The joke’s on you, Castleford”.
“Since, the annual charity gala is in a fortnight, how about we invite them to the event?”
“No. The charity gala is a charity event that has been hosted by my family for years and its invitation is strictly reserved for a select few. You all aren’t even on the guest list to begin with. It’s pretty private that even the media aren’t even invited”
“I’m sorry, sir”
“Mr. Rossi is right”
“We can donate a large sum of money to charity to attract attention?”
“If I wanted attention so badly from a bunch of rich freaks with no brains, I would have printed Alessandro Rossi on a plain sheet and had it delivered to their houses and watch them swarm out in hordes to wherever I direct them to.
Attention isn’t really the thing here because let’s face it, Phantom Hotels is a big deal. it’s more of presenting our newest business to them in the best way possible. I don’t know if you all understand me?”
“Of course we do”
“Very correct sir”
“Good. I want something unique and genuine just like the French say, I want something with a little bit of “je ne sais quoi”.”
“Am I permitted to speak, your highness?”. Bernard Castleford asked in the hopes of mocking me.
This silly twat really doesn’t know that he is in the presence of a ferocious lion.
Ignorant fool.
“You had better shut up if you have nothing productive to add to this conversation, Castleford”.
“You’re discrediting me and putting down my inputs without even heating them out. This is a perfect example of how you throw away meaningful ideas. No wonder we’re still stuck here”.
“Spit it out and curb the stupidity you’re spewing as a habit!”
“Well, my idea is quite simple and more reasonable than the lousy things I’ve been hearing at this board meeting.
Since these people are high ranking people in the society, why don’t we throw them a party BUT only after Pyramid Heights has been constructed.
To cut your board member short on his previous flimsy suggestion or idea or rather to make his idea more sensible, us throwing a party now when Pyramid Heights is still nothing but an illusion, a dream in our minds seems nothing short of foolish and almost mediocre in my eyes.
What more in the eyes of the people who want to patronize our new hotel?
After the construction of the hotel we can now decide to throw it NOT in Pyramid Heights but in Phantom Hotels where we will then display very beautifully taken videos and pictures of Pyramid Heights’ Scenery in Phantom Hotels, thereby dragging their attention out from Phantom Hotels and into Pyramid Heights because bringing them to Pyramid Heights directly might come off as desperate. It’s in a foreign country after all.
Besides, you all claim to be known for being different right? Doing this sets us apart from the crowd of people who throw launches in the new establishment. What do you think?”
“You’re suggesting we throw a launch for Pyramid Heights in Phantom Hotels?”
“Why?”
“One word. Uniqueness”
“What do you think, Mr Rossi?”
All eyes were on me as they were all waiting to hear my thoughts on his idea that he just pitched.
“Is your plan to make us look stupid?”
“What do you mean?”
“Your idea might just be the perfect excuse to have our name plastered all over the tabloids in a negative light. I’m not surprised that you want to share that spotlight with us”
“The way you see it isn’t the way the media and the guests are going to see it. Everything isn’t all about you, Rossi”
“It’s my company so technically it’s all about me”
“What a prick”
“Your wife went totally crazy over it. I know”.
My retort seemed to infuriate him a lot as he balled his hands into fists and glared daggers at me from across the table.
His idea was not bad to say the truth, it’s more like something that we could come up with.
Uniqueness is our brand image and an idea like his would really fit in with our mission.
But I still can’t tell him that he has done quite well, that would be praising my biggest competition in public and manners and class aside, I would do no such thing.
Instead, I would rather string him along and present his idea in a not so impressive manner.
“Well, get the construction company to begin work immediately. I want that building up and solid in no no time”
“Right away, sir!”
“And the idea?”
“I’ll sleep on that and cross check for any loopholes or loose ends in Mr. Castleford’s suggestion. We can’t trust the owner of our rival company so blindly now, can we?”
“You have got to be fucking kidding me”. He said under his breath as he laughed while running his hand through his hair.
“This meeting is over!”.
I immediately stood up and buttoned my jacket before walking out of the office as Dave immediately followed behind me.
“Do you agree with Mr Castleford’s pitch, sir?”
“It’s not bad. It’s actually distinct and unique”
“Then why didn’t you approve it immediately?”
“That’s the thing about business, Dave. In here, he’s my board member which you can call one of us but then once he’s out of this walls, he becomes our biggest rival in the business world”
“Yes, sir. I’m very aware of that fact”
“Once I show enthusiasm in front of him and in front of the board members, what do you think that makes us look like?”
“What, sir?”
“It makes us appear like people who are lacking in brains and business ideas”
I paused in my steps to look at Dave’s facial expression.
As expected his brows were furrowed as he looked like he was in deep thought about what I just said.
“That is correct, sir”
“You think ahead, Dave, if you really want to remain on top in the business world”
“Yes, sir. So, are you going to approve of his pitch?”
“Yes, it’s almost identical to what I had in mind for Pyramid Heights. We will just have to string him along for a while. Make him think we are considering one of our own. Anything too sudden or hasty will paint us in another light”
“Yes, Sir”
“Good”
“That is very brilliant, sir. I’m really learning a lot from you”
“Good for you, Dave. You might never know where you will find tomorrow. It’s always wise to invest in yourself. It’s never a waste”
“Very wise words, sir”
“Delay my next meeting by ninety minutes”
“Noted, sir”
I nodded at him before walking into my office as he went back to his office.
I pulled my phone out from my pocket and noticed I had a message from Robyn.
I put my phone on DND during the meeting. I don’t like distractions during meetings.
I opened the message and the content made me lean back on my seat and smile at the screen.
My dear sweet Robyn just sent me some very flawless pictures of herself in nothing but lingerie which left my mark very visible for my eyes to feast on.
She seems to be getting very used to bearing the mark.
I looked at the flimsy lingerie that left nothing to the imagination.
She posed in a very seductive manner on her bed as she squished her gigantic bosoms together and clicked a snap.
Well, it is definitely surprises like these that I like getting.
She’s fast becoming my favorite girl. It’s almost like she knows exactly what I need and want at this very moment.
I proceeded to my call log to hit her up and tell her to come over to the office.
The meeting can wait.
“Sir, Miss Sofia is here to see you”. Dave said instantly as my hand hovered over the green call button.
I muttered a string of colorful words under my breath.
“Tell her to leave!”
“Yes, sir”.
As the door closed behind Dave I hit the desk in anger.
One more thing reminding me of that dead tramp, Roberta.
If her sister doesn’t learn to stay in her lane, I will send her to Roberta. Besides, a sisters’ reunion wouldn’t be so bad.
This girl has ruined my plans for me. She’s quite lucky that I had already asked her out of my office, otherwise she would have paid for spoiling my fun.
“Miss, no! You can’t enter here!”
“Get your hands off me!”
“No, you’re not permitted to be in here, miss!”
“You need to leave!”
“Get your fucking hands off me! He knows who I am!”
I heard the commotion happening outside as they immediately flung the door of my office open and in walked Sofia with Dave who was trailing behind her and holding her by the arm in a bid to drag her out of the office door.
“Alessandro!”
“I’m sorry, sir. She just barged in here after I told her you didn’t want to see her”
“I can see that. It’s fine, Dave. I’ll take it from here”
“Okay, sir”. He said before leaving with a nod.
“Scum!”
I looked at Sofia as she stared at Dave’s retreating back with hatred filling her eyes.
“What brings you to my office unannounced and unwanted, Sofia?”.
