NFTMB)Chapter 26
Alessandro
(Bedrest and arguments)
Shit! I fucked up big time. I let my anger get the best of me. I went overboard this time. This was all my fault. I can’t forget the sight of her bleeding out and crying because she thought she was going to lose the baby.
I almost killed my child. I feel like a bad parent now. I was just grateful that the baby was fine. The doctor said she should avoid stress and stay on bedrest for the meantime.
“Boss, how exactly did this happen?”. Sebastian spoke up for the first time since arriving at the hospital in a rush.
I looked at him for a moment before looking back at the sedated Victoria lying peacefully on the bed.
“I went over to her place to confront or scare her for trying to throw me behind bars but instead of her being apologetic she hurled insults at me and I kind of lost my cool, then this happened. She was repeatedly saying that it hurt but I didn’t listen. It’s my fault”. I admitted.
Sebastian looked at me for a moment before speaking up.
“She called me up earlier, probably a few minutes before you arrived”.
I turned in a flash.
“What did she say?”. I asked, turning to face him as I folded my arms across my chest.
“She sounded scared and frantic over the phone, she begged me to plead with you not to come for her because she called the cops on you”. Sebastian disclosed with a shrug.
She might be unconscious now but I could not help the anger that resurfaced because of her stupid actions and insistence on not marrying me. What’s with the finding love thing?. That’s a stupid reason to reject luxury, affluence and comfort.
“And?”. I wanted to know the full story. What did he tell her? What did she say?.
“And I told her I wouldn’t help her out of her mess because my loyalty lies with you and I also told her you were coming for her before I hung up on her”.
I liked that Sebastian didn’t side with Victoria. She was wrong, she definitely crossed the line.
Don’t get me wrong, I feel bad that my baby’s life was almost in danger because of me but I didn’t feel bad for Victoria. She should thank my baby else I would have taught her to never mess with me.
And as for that marriage, it was going to happen. She can do her worst.
“Alessandro?”. A soft voice caught both our attention as we turned to the frail figure on the bed.
“What happened to my baby?”. She asked as tears welled up in her eyes while her hands wrapped around her flat stomach.
“The baby’s fine Victoria. You just had a bleeding due to stress and you’re advised to stay on bed rest for 2 weeks, doctor’s orders”. I informed her.
“Oh. How’s matteo? Who’s looking after him since you both are here?”. She asked. I was surprised by her concern for Matteo considering she just woke up and almost lost hers.
“He’s fine. Amara and Mary will take care of him. He’s in good hands. Worry about yourself and your baby first. You almost lost it due to your stupidity and carelessness!”. I lashed out at her.
“And whose fault is it that we almost lost the baby, Alessandro?! Who hit who? I begged you to stop but you didn’t because you were so blinded by rage and your over bloated ego. You almost killed your own child! What kind of a father are you?”. Her voice broke at the end.
Sebastian looked surprised at her revelation as I rolled my eyes and proudly walked towards the window. I didn’t care that we were arguing in front of Sebastian like an old couple. Yes, I was that shameless.
“Yeah right, drama queen, as if you wanted the baby in the first place! If I remember correctly, you wanted to give it away! I was the only one who wanted the baby! So don’t play the victim Victoria! You’re as much to blame as me in all this. You started this!”. I pointed a finger in her direction.
A tear fell from her eyes as she looked away to the other side of the room avoiding my gaze.
“Yes, I know I didn’t want the baby initially but the moment that I felt like I almost lost it, I knew I wanted to see it grow, I didn’t want to lose my baby”. She spoke up as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
I mentally rolled my eyes. Such Oscar worthy acting. If it were up to her, she’d rather dance the night away with that driver boy than carry this baby.
“I want to go home”. She spoke again after some time.
If she thought I would let her out of my sight, she had another thing coming.
I decided she was coming home with me. She was going to live with me till our wedding. And that was final!.
“You’re coming back to the mansion with me”. I said with a tone of finality.
Her head snapped to me so fast that I felt she would get a whiplash. Her eyes were angry and glassy.
“I refuse to live in the same house with you!”. She spat with so much anger.
“You’ll be living in the mansion with me and Matteo till our wedding and that’s final!. You had better get used to your new life and start adjusting”. I said as a closed discussion.
“No!”. She objected but I wasn’t listening to her.
“Sebastian, send our men to her place and get her things to the mansion. I’ll bring her home”. I instructed Sebastian who had already gotten into action as he was already dialing a number.
“On it”. He responded as he walked out the door to make a call.
Victoria looked at us in panic as she knew nobody was going to listen to her.
“Alessandro! You have taken this thing way too far and I promise you that you’ll never get away with it!”. She threatened me as she sat up on the hospital bed.
She really doesn’t listen. I walked briskly to her as she scooted back in fear, I reached her position and held her arm in a deathlike grip before proceeding to talk some sense into her.
“Listen here, Victoria, this is the last time you’ll think you can undermine my authority. Next time you try this, whether in private or in public, someone you love will die and trust me sweetheart, I will make good on that threat. If you don’t believe me, a trial will convince you but be warned, you’ll lose someone”. I threatened her as she appeared meek and scared.
“Who really are you?”. She questioned between tears.
Was she just starting to suspect that I wasn’t just an ordinary regular CEO?. How smart.
“I’m someone you wouldn’t like to mess with”. I roughly tossed her arm away.
She bowed her head as she sniffled as silently as she could.
“So, are you coming home with me or does Grace or Simon have to die first? You pick”. I taunted her.
She looked up with heavy eyes as her hands stayed clasped together on her thighs.
“Would you really kill an innocent girl and a defenseless man if I refuse to live with you?”. She asked bewildered.
“You just try and see”.
I would do it without a second thought. I hated both of them without even meeting them. Especially that Simon guy. He was irritating.
“What type of a man and father are you?”.
I laughed out loud. Where was she taking this conversation to?. She still doesn’t know when to shut up.
“The most dangerous kind”. I responded with a smirk.
She looked taken aback like she didn’t expect my response.
“Before I became a father, I was someone’s son. And I bet you wouldn’t want to know whose son I was. Now if you know what’s good for you, Victoria, you better get off that bed and get dressed, we’re leaving”. I continued to threaten her and it looked like it was working.
“Alessandro, you can find prettier and classier women, why me? A common nanny, I’m worthless to you”. She emotionally said.
Ugh!
“There are many middle class men around, why didn’t you find one of them to fuck? Why me, a billionaire, I’m way out of league for you”. I clapped back at her in the most embarrassing and demeaning way.
Heat rose to her cheeks as she couldn’t find the right words to reply to me with.
“You better shut your smart mouth up and get dressed so I’ll finally get the fuck out of here. I’ve already missed out on a lot of work because of you”. I scolded her.
“But I don’t have my clothes”. She slowly said gesturing to the hospital gown she was presently wearing.
I walked over to the cabinet and pulled it open to reveal the bag inside. I had asked Sebastian to buy me a new set of clothes for Victoria.
I threw the bag at her and she looked at me suspiciously.
“What’s in the bag?”. She asked me.
I rolled my eyes for the millionth time today. This girl will kill me with her stupidity. What did I get myself into?.
“Jesus Christ! Open the damn bag first Victoria then you’ll know!. Why do you have to be so dumb and annoying all the time?”. I yelled as I rubbed my temple due to stress.
She slowly opened the bag and took out the dress before looking at me. What was it now? Didn’t she know what a dress was anymore?.
“What now?”. I asked as she continued staring at me like a fool.
“Can you please turn around or exit the room? Please I need to change”. She said in a low tone.
I laughed so loud that I felt like I was tearing up. Me? Turn around so she could change into her new clothes? You have got to be fucking kidding me!.
“Make me understand you Victoria, should I turn around or walk out the door because the woman who is carrying my child wants to strip herself of her old clothes and put on a new one? Do you see the irony in that? It’s like you’re forgetting I am the one who got you pregnant, I know what you look like without clothes, Victoria”. I said to her,
“I’m not trying to start a fight with you here, Alessandro, I just want to change”. She said in a serious tone but I wasn’t having it. This was preposterous! It’s unheard of.
“You? Start a fight with me? Don’t flatter yourself darling please. You had better get your ass off of that bed now and fucking strip before I lose my composure and forget you’re pregnant and that this is a hospital”. I said pointing a finger at her. She looked shocked before she gained her composure.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Alessandro!. Why do you like to humiliate me?”. She cried out. Enough of this nonsense please!.
“If you don’t change right this fucking minute, I swear to God I’ll forget you’re pregnant for me and shoot you!”. I yelled at her as I fished out my gun and aimed it at her.
Her eyes widened before she slowly got off the bed sorrowfully and started to undress. I tucked my gun back and folded my arms as I watched her change.
As I watched her, I noticed just how much her body had changed because of the pregnancy. Her boobs definitely got bigger and her skin was brighter and kind of glowing. Her tummy was as flat as ever, it made me marvel at the fact that there was another life growing in there. Another human like me.
Her face was a horrifying shade of red as she tried her best to change quickly. No need, I had seen it all.
“Stop looking at me”. She said as she sat down on the bed after changing.
I rolled my eyes yet again.
“It’s not like there’s anything that I haven’t seen before, still the same, just bigger”. I added with a wink with which she eyed me before folding her arms across her chest.
A knock sounded on the door after which Sebastian stuck his head in then fully walked into the room.
“Boss, they’ve started the moving”. He informed me.
“Good”.
“There’s something else”. He said as he appeared tired.
“What’s wrong Sebastian?”. I didn’t like suspense. Just spit it out already.
“Bianca’s landing next tomorrow followed by the rest of your family”.
Shit!.
