(Half a billion dollars)
The guts of that woman pissed me off to no end. She dared to stand up to me for a driver.
Most times I wonder, If she wasn’t a virgin would I still be possessive over her.
It doesn’t matter, I’ve set my sights and my hands on her. She was marked by me, she was mine now.
I’d only leave her if I get bored. She was mine to play with. I didn’t love her, no. I just didn’t want her dating or being with that driver boy.
And for that girl Amara, she thought I wouldn’t know she was the rat eavesdropping on my conversation last night. I’d punish her for her insolence later. She constantly insults my intelligence and my knowledge of her very scent and essence.
I arrived at my office and took my private elevator. I sighted my assistant, Dave, at the door.
“Good morning Sir”.
“Good morning Dave”. I replied curtly. He’s lucky I responded to his greetings. I don’t bother with others’.
“Sir Mr Jose will be your first meeting of the day. He wants a merger between his catering company and our Phantom Hotels”. He briefed me as I kept on walking to my office.
“What’s the catch?”.
“300 million dollar profit sir and also a good catering service for our esteemed guests. Their service is rated 5 star”. Hmm sounds okay but I can afford that myself, I need something more enticing.
“Send him up and I will get a better deal myself”. I stepped into my office.
I was known as a very strict businessman. I brokered deals with unimaginable benefits. I owned almost the entirety of New York. I owned restaurants, nightclubs, cafes and a long chain of hotels. I was the king of New York. I fucking ran this town and everything in it.
Phantom Hotel was the No. 1 leading hotel in New York and even stretched far from New York. I made sure it was created to cater for the rich and high and mighty. It was an extreme comfort at the price of gold. It was worth it.
My workers had the mindset that every customer was a king. They were trained to work and act like servants. They had no mind of their own just like they had no right to act on impulse. They had and took orders. Phantom Hotels was heaven for the rich. They could be whoever they wanted with ease.
Rich celebrities who lodged at Phantom Hotels had the luxury of being as nasty and bitchy as they wanted to the staff because they knew it was a private establishment which did not allow paparazzi or the prying eyes of the press.
Phantom Hotels was worth more than 300 million dollars. If he wanted it, he would need to pay through his nose for it. Securing this deal with us would put him at the top of the top. My guests were millionaires and Billionaires who weren’t afraid of the cost or price tag.
Jose Simon would earn a shit ton of money from my hotel. The last people who were authorized caterers for my hotel had a nasty fight with an A list celebrity and created a mess. She was one of our valued guests but not a favorite of mine.
The owner sided with his insolent worker and threatened to sue my establishment for maltreatment. The nerve. Through my lawyer and a third party representative, I bought the company and fired all of them including the owner. I didn’t want to hire new people to run it because I wanted it to serve as a lesson that I just bought it for fun.
Jose Simon was about to broker a deal of a lifetime with us and I would not let it come easy to him.
“Good morning Mr Rossi”. I looked at the graying older man in front of me. He looked nervous
“Good day Jose”.
“Thank you for letting me see you personally”. He seemed excited now, how dumb.
“I’ll get straight to the point Jose, your 300 million is not good enough. It’s too poor for an establishment like Phantom Hotels. You’re looking down on me and my hotel with that paltry sum of money. You insult me Jose and I don’t like insults”. I gave him the infamous devil smirk.
“No Mr Rossi, I would never insult you. How much do you think is worth a deal with Phantom Hotels”.
“Half a billion dollars Jose”. I laid it flat on the table. I don’t mince words. I say it like I mean it. I laid back in my seat to gauge his reaction.
Cold sweat broke out all over him as he stared at me.
“500 million dollars Sir?”. He questioned.
“Whatever way you choose to call it. Take it or leave it”.
“Uhmm sir can’t we come to an agreement of some sort?”. He pleaded desperately.
“That’s my offer Jose. You can use the door if it’s not suitable for you”.
“Can I pay in installments? At least by three months after I’ve started delivering I’ll complete the rest”. He was desperate.
“Upfront payment Jose or get the hell out of my building”.
Jose knew that he couldn’t miss this one in a lifetime chance of financial freedom and status elevation. He would become the most envied business owner in New York and beyond. He could pass up the opportunity to score big time.
“Alright Mr Rossi, agreed. We have a deal sir”.
“Wise choice Jose”. I pressed the buzzer and waited for Dave to enter.
“Do follow my assistant and he’ll sort out the paperwork and the rest of the agreement including clauses, restrictions and benefits. Do have a pleasant day Jose, nice doing business with you”. I told him as I turned my seat around, backing him to face my window which had the most marvelous view of New York. I was the fucking king of New York.
My mind slowly drifted to Victoria. I actually didn’t know what I wanted from her or if I actually wanted anything from her. I just knew that I hated seeing her with that boy.
Physically I can’t really say she was my type. I hated blondes, they were a stupid bunch. She was stupid no doubt about that, because you can’t just let your boss touch you and then continue working with him like nothing happened.
I see her in a different light now. She seems cold with Sebastian. I see them talk and most times cackle but I didn’t mind. Sebastian was my most trusted man. He wouldn’t betray me. Besides I didn’t care what she did as long as it wasn’t with my driver.
The day rolled by rather slowly as I went from meeting to meeting. It was tiring conversing with so called CEOs and heads of companies who knew nothing and had nothing to offer as well but an empty head and a wasted seat. It was painful to watch.
I slumped back and closed my eyes as exhaustion washed over me. I was burnt out. That’s it, the day was officially over for me.
I left the office after instructing Dave to cancel all my appointments and I’ll reschedule at a desired later date. I walked out and passed by the waiting people at the reception area. I spared them no glance.
It was almost evening when I arrived home from the office. I headed to my office, dropped the documents I needed to sign overnight and went back to my room to shower.
I hopped out and changed into a fresh pair of clothes. I went back to my study and carefully read through the documents before signing. I wouldn’t want a riff raff ripping me off or enslaving me in a bad contract.
Halfway through and my mind went to her. I got up and checked my son’s room and he wasn’t there.
I checked her room and she wasn’t there either. I knew something was up. I stood at the top of the stairs in deep thought till I figured that she may be with Amara. They both seemed like they would get along just fine.
I walked briskly to Amara’s room and opened the door without knocking. She was actually taking a nap. She was fast asleep.
Where on earth was she?
