“Fucking hell, that was intense!” Sighing, I plopped down on the couch. It had been a long day, from talking to my people to creating a council. It was difficult doing that, though, as none of the species wanted to be joined with another. I ended up creating a council for each of them, knowing it would take me more than a day to get them to join each other.
“You did well.” Blue’s eyes shone with adoration as he smiled at me. “Your action today showed that you were born to be a leader. Our scared bunny isn’t so afraid anymore.”
“Hey! I’m not a scared bunny!” I folded my arms, frowning at them.
“Come on, you know that’s what you are. Why else did you think we gave you the name?” Fred leaned in to whisper, his voice low and husky.
“You guys are ridiculous!” I rolled my eyes, a blush rising to my cheeks.
“We’re just proud of you, that’s all. You took a tremendous step today, uniting the species under one umbrella.” Blue settled beside me on the couch, smiling.
His words warmed my heart, and I leaned into his side, feeling grateful for their unwavering support. “It’s just the beginning,” I said, my mind already racing with the challenges ahead.
Fred nodded, his expression serious. “We’ll face resistance, but with you at the helm, we can overcome anything.”
Their faith in me was humbling, and I felt a surge of determination. I wouldn’t let them down. As we sat in comfortable silence, I realized that, for the first time in a long while, I felt at peace. The weight of responsibility lingered, but with my mates by my side, I knew I could handle it.
“You know,” I said, turning to them with a smile, “I think I’m getting the hang of this leadership thing.”
“Told you’d make an outstanding leader.” Blue grinned.
Fred leaned in, his eyes sparkling. “And we’ll be right here, guiding you every step of the way.”
My heart swelled with emotion as I wrapped my arms around them, pulling them into a tight hug. “Thanks, guys. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
As we held each other, I knew that regardless of what lay ahead, I was ready. I had found my inner strength, and with my mates by my side, I was unstoppable.
Aunt Margaret was spending the afternoon with Chrys. She seemed to know how tired I was, so she left after helping me change out of my clothes because Chris had somewhere to go.
“Are you up for a stroll?” Fred asked, breaking through the comfortable silence.
“A walk? What are you planning to do?” I frowned, looking at him suspiciously.
Fred chuckled, holding up his hands in mock innocence. “Nothing nefarious, I promise. Just a quiet stroll around the gardens. The sun’s setting, and it’s beautiful outside.”
Blue nodded, standing up and offering me his hand. “Come on, scared bunny. Fresh air will do you good.”
I hesitated, feeling a flutter in my chest. A walk with Blue and Fred sounded lovely, but I was still reeling from the day’s events.
“Come on, darling. You will love it, I promise.”
“Okay, fine,” I said, taking Blue’s hand and letting him pull me up.
As we strolled through the gardens, the setting sun casts a warm glow over the lush greenery. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the sound of chirping birds.
Fred walked beside me, his arm brushing against mine. “You’re doing great, you know that?”
“Thanks to you guys. I don’t know what I’d do without your support.” I smiled, feeling a sense of pride
Blue wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me close. “You’ll never have to find out.”
We walked in comfortable silence, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The tension of the day melted away, replaced by a sense of calm.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the sky in a warm orange glow, Fred stopped beneath a majestic oak tree.
“Look,” he said, pointing upwards.
A flock of starlings swooped and dived, their silhouettes dancing against the vibrant sky.
“Beautiful,” I breathed.
Blue turned me to face him, his eyes shining with affection. “You’re beautiful, too.”
My heart skipped a beat as Fred stepped closer, his eyes locked on mine. “You’re strong, capable, and loved,” he whispered, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
I felt my pulse racing, my senses overwhelmed by the emotions swirling around me. “What’s happening?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Blue’s smile was tender. “We’re showing you how proud we are of you, in our way.”
Fred’s eyes sparkled. “And maybe, just maybe, we’ve fallen for our scared bunny. Harder than ever. Each time spent with you proves just how much we love you.”
My heart fluttered as I gazed at my mates, their eyes shining with affection. The air was charged with tension, and I could feel the weight of their words.
“Falling for me?” I repeated my voice barely above a whisper. “Does that mean you have been playing with me since?” I teased.
Blue’s smile grew wider. “We’ve been by your side through thick and thin. We’ve seen your strength, your courage… and your vulnerability.”
Fred stepped closer, his eyes burning with intensity. “We’ve fallen for the real you, scared bunny. The one who is brave, yet fragile. The one who’s determined to make a difference.”
My pulse was racing. I felt my defences crumbling. No one had ever made me feel this way before. “I… I feel the same,” I stammered, my voice trembling.
Blue’s eyes sparkled as he leaned in, his lips brushing against mine in a gentle kiss. Fred followed, his lips tracing the curve of my neck, sending shivers down my spine. As we savoured the moment, they broke from the kiss, their eyes never leaving mine.
“From the moment we met you, we knew you were special,” Blue said, his voice filled with emotion.
Fred nodded, taking my hand. “We want to spend the rest of our lives making you happy, showing you how much we love and adore you.”
Blue dropped to one knee, removing a small box from his pocket. He opened it to reveal two stunning rings.
“Will you marry us?” they asked in unison, their faces radiant with hope.
“Will you stay with us for eternity despite knowing how unhinged we are in bed?” Fred added, looking nervous.
Tears of joy streamed down my face as I gazed at the rings, and then at them. It wasn’t even a matter for debate. I’d been waiting for this since the time u realized I had fallen for them. “Yes, yes, a million times, yes!” I exclaimed, my heart soaring.
As they slid the identical rings onto my fingers, the starlings above us erupted into a joyful chorus, their silhouettes dancing against the vibrant sky, as if aware of what was going on.
“Thank you so much, Bunny!” Fred swept me into his arms, spinning me around as Blue joined in, our laughter and tears mingling in perfect harmony. In that magical moment, surrounded by nature’s beauty and the love of my life, I knew I made the right choice by responding to their email.
