I couldn’t contain the smile on my face at the thought of visiting the office. It took a lot of conviction before my mates decided to take me out. For the first time in weeks, I was finally stepping out of the house.
As I slipped into the beautiful new-length blue dress, I felt a surge of confidence and glamour. Fred gifted the gown to me while Blue got the shoes. From the way they acted as they presented their gifts, you would have thought they were in a silent competition to know whose gift was the most appreciated. They asked me which one I liked the best, but I told them I loved their presents so much because their gifts complemented each other.
The blue dress hugged my curves in all the right places, accentuating my waistline, without showing off my baby bump. The gems adorning the dress catch the light, sparkling like diamonds against the vibrant blue fabric. Running my hands on it, I wondered how Fred knew my size without taking my measurements.
I kept my makeup light and natural, wanting to enhance my features without looking too done up. A swipe of mascara, a dusting of powder, and a hint of lip gloss were all I needed. I wasn’t that huge on makeup, so I went for the light one.
I had my blonde hair tied back in a ponytail, with a few loose curls framing my face. It was my favourite because of how easy it was, and how pretty the loose curls on my face made me feel.
My blue eyes sparkled as I checked my reflection in the mirror, feeling like a princess who just stepped out of a fairytale.
Satisfied with my looks and minimal makeup, I slipped into the beautiful silver shoes Blue got for me. It was the perfect finishing touch for my outfit. The heels added a few inches to my height, making me feel taller than ever.
With one last glance in the mirror, I grabbed my silver purse and left my room, heading downstairs to where my mates were waiting for me. I’d seen no one dress as fast as Blue and Fred. Each time, I always marvelled at how quick they were whenever they dressed, almost like they were competing with time.
When I stepped into the parlour, they stood up, their mouths agape as they watched me. I couldn’t help but check them out, noting how handsome they looked.
They wore black shirts that fit them perfectly, accentuating their broad shoulders and chiselled physiques. The sleeves hugged their arms, showcasing their toned biceps. Their blue slacks were crisp and well-pressed, breaking just above their black shoes, which shone with a subtle sheen.
As my gaze returned to their shirt, I couldn’t help but notice how much Blue had changed. Though he was still leaner than Fred, he seemed to have added a little flesh.
As I took in their appearance, I noticed subtle differences – a slight smile playing on Blue’s lips, a hint of mischief in Fred’s eyes – that set them apart and made them uniquely themselves.
Coughing, I blinked, blushing when I realized they were checking me out while I was doing the same to them.
“Is this dress okay?” I asked, to hide my embarrassment, twirling for my mates as they watched me with amused smiles on their faces. “How do I look?”
“Beautiful,” Fred muttered, walking over to me like he was in a trance. His steps measured, and his eyes fixed on me, not wavering at all. He reached my side in a few seconds and planted a kiss on my cheeks. “You see ravishing, darling,” he added with a smile.
“So tempting,” Blue muttered as he placed a kiss on my left cheek. I was so engrossed with Fred that I didn’t know when he stepped to my side until he planted a kiss on my cheek. “You are the most beautiful woman on Earth and Lyxant. Our queen.”
I felt on top of the world at their remarks. My cheeks reddened as I smiled shyly at them. Getting compliments from my mates gave me the best feeling ever. It made me feel like I was the only woman on Earth. Knowing I had their marks on my neck, and their undying loyalty was more than enough for me.
Blue offered his hand to me, which I readily took with a smile. “What do you want to do today? We are free.”
“Why don’t you surprise me?” I challenged with a smile, lifting a perfect brow at him. “I’m a sucker for surprises.”
“Well then, I have the right thing in mind for you.” Winking, Fred hastened over to the door and opened it, gesturing for us to walk over to him. Waiting, he checked the time on his wristwatch. “We will have more than sufficient time for it. Visiting the office shouldn’t take more than an hour.”
“Don’t count on that,” I said, frowning at him. “I haven’t seen Chris for months. Of course, I will need more than an hour to chat with her. I doubt a day will be enough for us to catch up to the present.”
I still have enough things to tell her, and let’s not forget the baby. She needs to know she will be a godmother soon!
“Anything you say,” grumbling, Fred turned to leave as we hurried over to the door. Thinking of Chris and all the stories we have to tell, I was eager, which caused me to hurry, impatient to leave.
Pounding Footsteps on the tiles made us turn. Running towards us was Scarlett, with her eyes widened in horror. However, that wasn’t what caught my attention. It was the blood dripping from a wound in her arm. It was a gaping injury, one that would have cost her an arm had she been human.
“Scarlett?” I separated from my mates and hastened over to her. “What happened? Why are you bleeding?”
“The palace is under attack. Most of the houses have been set on fire,” she gasped, her face scrunching in pain.
