“That’s wrong.” I sat up, frowning at them. “The children are innocent. You can’t use the sins of the fathers against their kids.”
“Really? Did they think of this when they did the same to us?” Blue’s voice was clipped. “Do you know we almost died from poison?”
“Poison?”
“Our paternal uncle wanted to kill us Slowly. Luckily enough, we discovered it early. He only killed our vampire side, and not our werewolf’s side.”
“But -”
“We still act a bit like vampires?” Fred completed, smirking as he leaned down to place a kiss on my left cheek. “That’s because we left for Earth. We recuperated for years before it finally woke up. Else, it would have crippled us for life.”
Listening to them, I couldn’t think of what to say anymore. I understood why they were reluctant to return to their kingdom. I would have done the same had I been in their shoes. However, I couldn’t fathom the thoughts of a kingdom without its kings.
“You understand why we won’t want anything to do with them?”
“I do.” Nodding, I placed my head on Fred’s chest and closed my eyes. “I understand you, but don’t you think leaving your throne vacant will cause countless problems?”
“We don’t want to have anything to do with it. It’s better this way. Since the kingdom doesn’t want a king, we will let them be without one,” Fred said, his tone hardened.
“What of the others?” Snapping my eyes open, I sat up, my gaze locking with his at the realization of something I had overlooked.
“The others?” He sounded puzzled. “What are you talking about?”
“You said there are different species on your planet, like my parents, right?”
He nodded, still not getting where I was going with my question.
“Where are they?”
“For those who weren’t harmed by the werewolves when my parents died, they had all gone into hiding, returning to their natural habitat,” Blue responded before Fred could do the same.
“Who was their ruler before they separated? Is your – our planet like Earth where there are different continents and one president for each country?”
“Yeah, something like that,” Fred responded. “However, unlike Earth, the entire planet has one governing king, Lycans.”
“You guys?”
They nodded.
“Each of the species has their king, but the Lycans governed the entire 7 species. Mermaids, witches, werewolves, fairies, dragons, vampires, and Lycans,” he explained.
“Wow.” My eyes grew wide at his words. “Dragons?” I bet my eyes sparkled at the question. Hearing about dragons made me eager to meet one. I had always been a sucker for those winged creatures that breathe fire.
Growls caused me to snap my gaze up at my lovers, who looked like they had just eaten something bitter. Gone was the playful smile on their faces as they told me about their kingdom.
Their expression reminded me of the day I went on a date. They looked as murderous as they did those months ago, and it made me wonder what caused such expressions on their faces. I did nothing wrong, did it?
“Woah, chill out guys. What’s with that look?”
“Do you like dragons that much?” Fred’s voice was neutral. It was too calm, it sent thrills down my spine.
“Of course… Not.” I leaned in his embrace and closed my eyes. “I love Lycans more than any other creature. My Lycans, though. Not all Lycans.”
The rumble in his chest as he nodded at my words made me smile. It was so easy to please them. Though I still think dragons were the best because of how badass they looked when blowing fire, they would never catch me dead, owing to that fact. I will always claim my mates were the best.
“That’s more like it.” Fred ran his fingers gently through my hair. “Do you know our names?”
“Isn’t it Fred and Blue?” I sat up, looking at him with a puzzled frown on my face. “Is there any other name?”
“Of course.” He grinned. “We chose Blue and Fred when we left for Earth. We had to adopt the ways of your planet, which was why we took names that made us seem… Ordinary.” He made his face at that.
“So? What are your real names?” Knowing they had other names piqued my interest.
“Arkyn and Tyrell. I’m Tyrell. Blue is Arkyn.”
“Wow. What do the names mean?”
“Tyrell means God of war.” Fred looked proud as he said that, his chest puffing out a bit.
“Stubborn,” Blue interrupted. “He was so headstrong when our mum birthed him that she had to name him that. Tyrell means stubborn.”
“That’s not true!” Fred gritted out through clenched teeth. “It means God of war. Not like yours. Arkyn means witty.”
“Eternal king’s son,” Blue corrected.
“Lies. You -”
“I love your names,” I said, interrupting them before the argument turned into something more. Knowing who my lovers were, it would take just a few more words for the argument to escalate into something more. “I love it more than your Earth names. Tyrell and Arkyn. Do you mind if I use it instead of the other ones?” I blinked up at them, joining my palms as a small smile played on my lips.
They shared glances, undoubtedly communicating through their bond. What I wouldn’t give to hear their voice in my head. If only it were possible, that is.
“Yeah, you can. Even though we don’t like the name,” Fred’s response was reluctant. Like they didn’t want me to call them by their given names, but couldn’t afford to tell me so.
“I love it! Ark and Ty. I think this one suits you guys more. What do you think?”
“Anything for you.” Blue sighed, looking as helpless as Fred. I could tell they were fed up with me, but couldn’t voice it out.
“Anything?” I bit my lower lip as I peered at him.
“Yeah, anything,” he responded, seconded by Blue who nodded.
“I have a request then.”
“Which is?”
“Can you mark me? I want us to be one.”
