It wasn’t the bracelet itself that amazed me but the meaning behind his gift. Everything he gave me had a special significance, which was one of the qualities I loved about him. He was incredibly sentimental when it came to me.
“I have one more gift,” he said, getting up and pulling me along, while I laughed.
We entered the house and went up to the second floor. I couldn’t help but laugh even more when I realized we were heading down the familiar hallway, the one that led to my room.
Gio opened the door, while I couldn’t wipe the smile from my face, wondering what he had in mind.
He pulled me in, causing me to burst into laughter. I sat on the bed, and he positioned himself on either side of it, on his knees.
I bit my lip.
“What other gift do you have for me?” I asked, teasingly.
Gio ran his tongue over his lower lip, placing his palm on the bed, and leaned in closer to me.
“It’s me, my love. All of me.”
I immediately wrapped my hand around his neck and kissed him on the lips. Gio quickly slid his tongue into my mouth, clearly craving my kiss.
“And a baby,” he said and pushed me down onto the bed.
I let out a shriek, but I let him continue with whatever he had in mind. We spent those hours together passionately, and I even forgot that I had guests to attend to downstairs.
But who cared now? I had just received the best birthday gift ever!

After my birthday, all I could dream of was that one day I would find out I’m pregnant. I can’t help but smile every time I think about it. I stretched my neck and arms; there was so much work this week that I lost track of time. When I glanced at the clock in my office, it was already seven in the evening!
I groaned. I should have been home resting at this hour. However, with the amount of work that needed to be done, I couldn’t help but work overtime. I massaged my temples. I didn’t want to be stressed out since it might affect my chances of conceiving.
Leaning back in my swivel chair, I took a brief moment to rest. I closed my eyes. I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t even texted Gio to let him know I would be late tonight. I had so many meetings earlier that I couldn’t even reach for my phone.
I picked up my phone, ready to call Gio when I saw his text and several missed calls. I checked why my phone didn’t make a sound and remembered that I had silenced it during my first meeting this morning. I closed my eyes tightly.
I quickly dialed Gio’s number and called him. He answered promptly.
“Hello,” he said in a deep and sultry voice. I almost groaned at that; Gio’s voice alone was seductive enough.
“Sorry, I missed your calls. I just got hold of my phone now. I also didn’t get a chance to inform you I would be late; I’ve been extremely busy.”
“I know, I called your secretary earlier,” Gio interrupted me. “It’s fine. When are you going home?”
“I’m done working for today. I’m on my way home. I’ll call my driver to get the car ready.”
“No need, Millie. I’m outside your office, waiting. If you’re finished, can I open your office door?” I didn’t respond immediately. I simply gave him a reluctant agreement to let him know he could enter.
I was a bit flustered. He’s outside my office? Why didn’t my secretary inform me? When did he even get here?
The door to my office opened, and Gio appeared. I couldn’t understand, but I let out a sigh of relief when I saw his face. He walked in, still in his corporate suit. It seemed like he came straight from the office. Our offices were not too far apart, but it was out of his way to come here on his way home.
I stood up to greet him, smiling, and leaned in to kiss him when I got closer.
“Hi, my CEO wife,” he whispered to me. I burst into laughter upon hearing what he said.
“I’m done with my work today, and I’m heading home. Why did you come here, Gio? Have you been here for a while?” I fired a series of questions at him as I packed my things and prepared to leave.
“I’ve been here for a while, almost an hour, waiting for you.”
I paused, raising an eyebrow at him, my eyes widening. “Huh? Why didn’t you tell me? I mean, you spoke to my secretary; why didn’t she let you in?”
“She told me you were busy, so I thought you’d be late. I told her not to let you know I was waiting outside. I figured you’d rush to go home as soon as you found out I was here rather than finish what you needed to do. I didn’t want to be a distraction,” he said.
I smiled, realizing how considerate and understanding he was. I quickly finished arranging my things.
“Shall we grab dinner first before going home?” he asked as we stepped outside, where his car was already parked.
I glanced at him with a teasing smile. Where are my guards or my driver? Did they just go home without informing me?

Gio and I headed to a well-known five-star restaurant. It was hard to miss, being the most brightly lit establishment in the area that evening.
The valet parked our car, and Gio took my hand as we walked into the restaurant. We were greeted by the staff and led to a private room, ensuring we had our privacy. The place was called “Locatelli Restaurant” and was owned by Gio’s family, led by his grandfather. I knew they had a few branches within hotels too.
The waiter approached us and brought a bottle of their best-selling wine here. The Locatelli family, Gio’s family, had a starting vineyard with roots in Spain and Italy. Most of their wines were not available in the market; they were exclusive to hotels and restaurants.
I swirled the wine in my glass, took a moment to savor its aroma, and then smiled at the waiter before he refilled my glass. Tonight, we were enjoying a five-course meal. Gio and I chatted during dinner, but it was mostly catching up. I noticed that we didn’t have much time for each other, both of us preoccupied with work.
While we talked and dined, I couldn’t help but tease Gio. Recently, I’d been overwhelmed by my hormones and desires for him.
I slipped my foot out of my sandals under the table and gently lifted it up to rest on his thigh, slowly moving it up towards his lap. I raised and lowered it, all the while watching Gio closely, curious about his reaction.
Gio paused in his meal and glanced at me. He tilted his head, raising an eyebrow as if to ask me what I was doing. I smiled sweetly at him, knowing he understood what I was up to, even without a response from me.
