“Sis, the new driver. He’s one of them. He pretended to be a driver and entered the house to… to study our every move. They planned everything. They knew that Gio was leaving the country, and they also knew that there would be a meeting for the Locatelli family, and your guards would be away from your side. They knew everything, which is why they executed all of this today.”
I just smiled at Sienna. I didn’t know how much Nicolas knew about the Locatelli family, but I was sure he was right about what he said earlier. He seemed to be well-acquainted with their every move.
But not me. Nicolas didn’t know what I was capable of, and he probably didn’t think I could escape from here. I was going to use that to my advantage and do everything in my power to get Sienna and me out of here.
I quickly formulated a plan and shared it with Sienna. Although she was initially hesitant, thinking we might get caught, she eventually trusted me. I didn’t know if we’d really be able to escape. The probability was low, and it was high-risk, but I was going to do everything in my power to get both of us out, even if it meant risking my life.

When we were given food, I glanced at Sienna. She nodded in response, understanding what I meant. It was time to put our plan into action. I remembered Nicolas’ words: they would only remove the chain from us while we are having a meal, and return it once we were done. At that moment, I could confront the guards.
I checked if there were guards outside. I spotted a silhouette. My guess was that there were two guards outside, and one more with us during meal preparation, making a total of three.
Seeing the size and armament of the man they had guarding us, I was unsure if my plan would work. However, I was willing to take the risk. I couldn’t let Sienna and I spend another night here. If Gio couldn’t find this place, just as Nicolas claimed, I couldn’t rely on anyone but myself. If Gio did locate us, it might be too late. I had no time to wait, and I knew our lives, especially Sienna’s, were in danger.
Sienna was here to keep me in check, as Nicolas used him as a threat against me. They were more likely to eliminate Sienna since he was of no use to them. Given the risks we faced by staying here, I preferred to die while fighting.
Dying was my last resort. I needed to escape and save my sister. They released Sienna first and gave her food. The guard turned to me and hesitated. “You can eat after your sister. Who knows what you might do.”
I swallowed hard. My Plan A had failed. Our initial plan was to attack the man together, but it seemed that wouldn’t happen now. I also noticed Sienna’s concealed signal.
“Are you afraid of a woman? Are you worried I might do something? You’re a big man, but you’re afraid of someone like me? What do you think I can do to you? I might even get hurt if I punch you. I’m starving!” I distracted the guard.
I saw his attention shift towards me. It worked. I glanced at Sienna again and noticed he had received the message I wanted to convey.
“What did you say?” His voice held anger, indicating he was affected by my words. Men and their egos.
I grinned. “I said you’re a coward!”
The man was about to confront me when Sienna quickly wrapped the long chain around the man’s neck. He didn’t make a loud noise, so I breathed a sigh of relief. The two guards outside wouldn’t know what was happening inside. There was no reinforcement for this man, and we had a chance to escape.
“Sis…” Sienna is scared, and I know he doesn’t want to do this to the man, but we have no other choice but to use force.
“It’s okay, Sienna. You’re doing great. This is for both of us,” I reassured my sister. SHe nodded at me and continued his actions.
The man lost consciousness and fell to the floor. We left him there and I instructed Sienna to retrieve the key so I could be released.
I embraced my sister as the chains were removed from me. I approached the man and gathered items we could use, like a gun and keys, which were likely for the locked doors.
“You know what to do, Sienna,” I said, while stroking my sister’s cheek. She nodded, and I positioned myself near the door. I had done this in training, so even though the handholds on the old wall were limited, I managed to climb. I balanced myself to avoid falling or slipping.
“Help!” Sienna shouted to get the attention of the two men guarding us. The door swung open, revealing the two men rushing toward Sienna, both armed with rifles. I had to act swiftly to regain control of the situation.
I leaped, landing between the two approaching men. I quickly seized the handgun I had taken from the individual who brought us food earlier and aimed it at one of the men. The other man, I stabbed in the eye to prevent any resistance.
“Try moving, and your head will be a mess,” I threatened the one with the gun. I was also sitting on his back, making it impossible for him to make any sudden moves. The other man was groaning in pain due to the eye injury.
“Sienna, tape his mouth and grab his gun too.”
I secured one of the guns, while Sienna took the other one. We tied them up, reversing the roles, so they were the ones in chains now. We also gagged them to prevent any noise.
I breathed a sigh of relief because, to some extent, we had succeeded in our plan.
“Sis, what about this gun?” Sienna asked, referring to the rifle he held.
“Just hold on to it, Sienna. Use it when you need to. I showed her briefly how to operate the rifle. I knew she didn’t want to hold it, but hse didn’t have a choice.
I held her hand, and together we left the room. I glanced around to see if there were other people nearby, but there were none. I also checked for security cameras. There were some, but I quickly spotted a blind spot, so that’s where Sienna and I walked to avoid being caught on camera.
“We only have a few hours to escape. We need to find the exit,” I told Sienna.
I wasn’t familiar with the layout, so I wasn’t sure if the path we were taking was correct.
