Chapter 490: Crisis of Trust

Callie noticed something was wrong with her expression and instinctively lowered her voice, “What happened?”
“Marilyn resigned from Vanco and went back to Ahmad to learn family affairs,” Regan asked seriously, “Does this have anything to do with you?”
Callie frowned, recalling the unpleasant encounter with Marilyn last time, “I don’t think so. Besides, as the heir to the Ellison family, isn’t it normal for her to learn these things?”
Regan snorted coldly, “The key point is, she didn’t want to inherit the family business before. This sudden change in attitude is unusual.”
Callie patted her shoulder, trying to be optimistic, “That’s her choice.”
Regan thought for a moment and said no more.
Since that day, Nelson had been busy at Oconnor Group most of the time. Callie hadn’t seen him for several days and specially made some nourishing chicken soup to bring over, but she was blocked at the intersection.
She vaguely saw a long line of cars ahead, and in front of the Oconnor Group building under the sunlight, it seemed very crowded.
She was puzzled. What happened ahead?
Callie got out of the car holding her phone to check. She walked a few steps and encountered a traffic police officer on duty, “Miss, don’t look. The road ahead is paralyzed. You should take a detour.”
Callie smiled at him, “No need. That’s my destination ahead.”
She carried the thermos bucket and walked quickly, her small figure quite noticeable.
At this moment, many news notifications flooded into her phone, vibrating nonstop. Callie glanced down and found many unread messages on social apps.
She stopped and keenly saw a piece of news-Oconnor Group faced a crisis of trust.
Callie was stunned on the spot.
Scrolling down, almost all the news was about Oconnor Group, saying that there was a collapse in Vankey’s project.
Callie’s blood ran cold, and her scalp tingled instantly.
Continuing to scroll down with trembling hands, fortunately, there were no records of casualties.
No fatalities, but there was a significant issue with the project quality. No wonder it was called a crisis of trust.
She stood stiffly in place, shocked by the real-time news.
At this moment, one of the reporters stationed under the Oconnor Group building spotted her figure standing dazedly and exclaimed, “Oconnor Group employee!”
Callie suddenly looked up, her beautiful collarbone visible with her rapid breathing.
She had nowhere to escape.
Cameras and microphones swarmed towards her.
Various unfamiliar and seemingly nonsensical questions bombarded her.
She stood in the circle of reporters with an absolutely bewildered and helpless posture.
The incessant questions from the reporters made her ears buzz. Callie took deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down and listen carefully. When she understood, her face gradually changed.
“I’m not an Oconnor Group employee, but I believe in Oconnor Group. If there is indeed a mistake, they will take responsibility.”
At the top floor of Oconnor Group, Jaquan turned off the TV and closed his eyes, rubbing his temples.
Callie’s thin figure lingered in his mind. That seemingly calm but actually fragile look in her eyes pierced his heart, leaving him breathless.
This matter had nothing to do with her.
“Feeling sorry?” Marilyn’s voice suddenly entered his ears.
Jaquan slowly raised his eyes and saw her standing by the office door.
Marilyn sneered, “Jaquan, being so indecisive won’t do.”
