Ophelia had woken up early and she was ready to go to work. She stood in front of Cade’s door, wondering if he was enjoying his break. She had expected to see him come to her room and even stalled all morning, but he did not show up at all, which was a bit of a concern for her. As she raised her hand to knock on the door, it flew open with him standing there, a huge smile plastered across his face.
“Ophelia,” he said, excited to see her since he was going to her room to meet her.
“You are dressed,” she murmured, looking at him from head to toe. She had been expecting to meet him still dressed in his pyjamas. “You are dressed,” she said again, raising her head to hum, wondering if he did not hear her the first.
“Yes, I am,” he nodded, and she took a step back to inspect his clothes.
“Are you going to work?” she asked, and he shook his head. “Then?” she needed answers, and he seemed to be taking his sweet time with responding.
“We are going to see my grandfather and your father,” he said. His tone sounded like he had made up his mind about the situation and there was no changing it.
“We are?” she asked. She looked down at herself; she was dressed to go to work and not to go see their family members. “I do not regret agreeing to that.”
“Yeah!” he said, nodding as he realized that he was supposed to ask her first before he made plans to take her there.
“I am supposed to go to work.”
“Well, I was hoping that we would go see my grandfather this morning and that we could have lunch with your dad.”
“Why?” She was confused. He had never wanted to be close with them so she did not know why he would be willing to go there and even make the suggestion by himself.
“They had been pestering us about having kids,” he said, teasing off. She understood what he meant.
This was a war and no matter how much they were falling in love with each other at this time, it was important for them to remember that they needed to have edge over Cael and his entourage. She knew what hos intentions were but there was a flip side to this and she was ready to tease him.
“Are you that eager to tell the world that you love me?” she asked taking small steps in a systematic order to him. She stopped leaving a very tiny gap between them.
“Oh my god! I wish I could erase the time we spent pretending and then tell people that now was the real deal” the way he spoke did not leave room for her to be able to tease him further so she gave him a downward smile.
“You are no fun” she murmured. She did not mean that at all, she just wished that she would have been able to tease him that morning.
“I am and I cam show you that now” he said winking at her and she knew the hidden meaning of what he was trying to say. She tried to take a step back but he placed his palm on her back and held her in place so she could not move.
“You are strong,” she said turning to him and trying to break the tension that the eye contact they were having was beginning to build. She turned and touched his arm muscles and smiled to herself. “How did you build this?” she asked pressing down on them and watching as they spring back up.
“Excerise,” he murmured. He had been a gym regular in the past, but since he got married, he had liked to do the exercise he could get down at home instead.
“I know that,” she said, a laugh escaping her lips. She returned back to him because of the way he tugged on her chin and slowly turned her face to him.
“What do you say? Should we go announce that we would be having a baby?”
“Having a baby? I do not think I am pregnant yet,” she said, looking down at her stomach. She was not yet hundred percent sure that she wanted a child. She was scared of leaving the child all to themselves in the future; one thing she knew for sure was that she was going to dot on this child with all the love in the world.
“But we can change that, can’t we?” He said, taking his hand off her back and holding her hands in his. He rubbed his thumb on the back of her hand. “I do not want it to feel like I am forcing this, so if it is not something you want, then we do not need to do it,” he added, seeing that she was quiet for a while.
“Let us change that,” she said, leaning in and planting a kiss on his cheek and moving back immediately.
“Shall we go see them?” he asked and she nodded. “We have to be faster if we are willing to meet grandfather; I think that having breakfast with him would let us talk to him more easily.”
“Okay then, that means I might not make it to work today,” she said, taking one hand out of his and fishing for her phone and tapping on it. She had to inform Diana of the new developments. “Have you called my dad?” she asked, knowing that they had to call ahead to squeeze in a few minutes to talk with him.
“I did that last night.”
“You already made plans without me,” she murmured. He could have mentioned yesterday when they spoke.
“I am sorry; I should not have done it. It was just that I had thought of it when we had said goodnight,” he said. She did not want to make a big deal out of the situation. His actions had not affected her negatively in any way. It was a good thing that he had done so no trouble.
“Okay then, shall we?” she said, turning so she was standing beside him.
“One more thing,” She said, turning her head to look at him. “My mom”
“What about her?” she said, turning her head to the side.
“I know that you are not in support of her showing up here but…”
“If you want her in your life, then there is nothing I can do about it,” she said This time it was her thumb over the back of his hand. “I understand it very well too. If my mom suddenly showed up in my life after all this time, I would be angry, but I would still want her to be a part of my life.”
“Thank you, so are you going to treat her as my mom?”
“Of course”
“Thank you”
“I am the best, aren’t I?” She said and then let out a short laugh.
“Of course you are,” he said, turning his head and playing a kiss on her temple before withdrawing and holding onto her hand tightly as if he were afraid that it would be snatched away from him.
