Bianca blushed when she received Dave’s message. Playfully, she texted back, “How will you reward me?”
His reply was confident, “I’ll do whatever you want. I’m the best man you’ve ever known. Tonight, I’ll make sure you feel amazing in bed.”
Her cheeks turned even redder. She quickly responded, “Stop it!”
But despite her words, a rush of happiness and warmth filled her heart.
Later that evening, Bianca was surprised to see the lights on when she arrived home. When she stepped into the hallway, Dave suddenly wrapped his arms around her from behind, catching her off guard.
Dave was still in his bathrobe, his hair damp, giving off a pleasant scent.
His embrace made Bianca’s heart race.
“You’re home early today,” she said, turning around to hug him tightly, a big smile on her face.
“I’ve been staying late at work too much lately. Things are quiet now, so I thought you deserved something special tonight.” Dave looked into her eyes intently without blinking. Recently, he’d managed to convince Lucas that he was going to get engaged to Skylar, which gave him some breathing room.
Bianca’s cheeks flushed pink as she gently placed her hands on his firm chest and blinked up at him. “You’re really going to treat me? Well, let’s see if your treat is enough to satisfy me.”
Dave felt a rush of passion as he pulled Bianca closer, wrapping his arms around her waist and leaning down to kiss her soft lips.
Their breaths grew quicker as they shared a deep, heated kiss, pausing only to catch their breath. Bianca playfully bites his tongue, nibbling it lightly. Dave winced, and Bianca looked up at him with a satisfied smile.
“Is that my treat? It’s not enough to satisfy me,” she teased.
Dave raised an eyebrow, noticing the playful challenge in her eyes.
“Why don’t you go take a shower first? I promise I’ll make sure to satisfy you tonight,” he whispered in her ear, his voice low and raspy as he pulled her closer again.
Suddenly, Bianca’s cheeks turned pink with embarrassment. Even though it wasn’t their first intimate moment, she still felt shy talking about sex.
Dave noticed that her shy look was incredibly alluring, something that always sparked his desire.
Then, Skylar’s questions about her wedding plans at the jewelry store flashed in Bianca’s mind. She also remembered how the host had hinted earlier in the day that she might be getting married soon.
Realizing that she and Dave had never really discussed marriage, she hesitated before asking, “Dave, have you ever thought about when we might get married?”
“Of course,” Dave answered right away. He gently lifted her chin, looking into her eyes with a slight frown. With a playful smile, he teased, “So, you’re thinking about marrying me, huh? Don’t worry. Once I settle some family matters, I’ll introduce you to my grandfather, okay?”
Bianca’s face brightened with a warm smile at his words. Dave’s promise comforted her, and she felt secure in their bond, knowing they trusted each other completely.
But there was a momentary flicker of concern in Dave’s eyes. Tomorrow was Tuesday, the day he was supposed to get engaged to Skylar.
“So, what’s on your agenda for tomorrow?” he asked, trying to sound casual.
Bianca didn’t hesitate. “I’ve been really busy lately, and it looks like my schedule is packed tomorrow. What about you? Got any special plans?”
Dave shook his head, saying he was just curious and that he’d be tied up with work as well.
Bianca looked at him with concern. “You’re always pushing yourself. Do you think you can keep this up? We’re young; we can make money anytime. There’s no need to burn yourself out,” she said. Dave had been starting his days early and ending them late, barely getting enough sleep.
Wrapping her in a hug, Dave gave a small smile and joked, “So, you’re going to take care of me and provide for me?”
Bianca bit her lip, then burst out laughing. “Sure, why not? I’m not rich, but I’ve got enough to cover us both.”
After a moment, Dave gently caressed her nose. “I believe a man should take care of his family. It’s not right to expect a woman to carry that burden. I don’t want to rely on someone else. And I don’t want you overworking yourself. If it gets too much, just come home. I’ll always be here to support you and keep you safe.”
Bianca was moved by his sincere words and nestled closer into his strong, comforting embrace.
They shared a soft kiss and held each other for a while. After a moment, Bianca excused herself to go to the bathroom.
The sound of running water filled the quiet room just as Dave’s phone began to ring.
He frowned when he saw it was his grandfather calling. Why would he be calling at this hour?
Annoyed, Dave picked up the call.
“Come over now,” Lucas demanded on the other end of the line.
Annoyed, Dave walked toward the door, replying quietly, “I’m in the middle of something, Grandpa. We’ll catch up tomorrow.”
He really wanted to stay with Bianca tonight.
Lucas, however, was insistent that Dave should come to see him immediately.
Dave knew he couldn’t refuse. He had no choice but to agree, knowing that if he didn’t, Lucas would turn Edenfield upside down to find him.
Bianca came out of the bathroom to find Dave slipping back into his suit and tying his tie.
“Are you heading out?” she asked, pausing her hair drying to look at him.
Dave took a deep breath, feeling guilty as he looked at Bianca. “Sorry, Bianc. My boss needs me back at work right away. It’s an emergency.”
Bianca felt a pang of disappointment but understood. She knew how demanding work could be.
“Then you better go. And drive safely,” she told him.
“Wait for me,” he said, giving her a quick kiss goodbye before rushing out.
When Dave arrived at his grandpa’s house, he saw Skylar talking with his grandfather in the living room.
“Dave, here’s the plan for your engagement party tomorrow. Take a look,” Lucas said, handing him a piece of paper.
Dave didn’t take it right away. He replied absentmindedly, “I’ll go with whatever you suggest.”
What caught his attention more was the guest list.
The list included his relatives and some of his grandfather’s business associates. On the other hand, Skylar had only just returned to the country and didn’t have many connections in the city. Dave guessed that none of the guests had anything to do with Bianca.
He glanced at Skylar, his expression hard to read.
