Chapter 1419: Esther’s Cousin

Upon seeing Emily Silverstone, Chris was momentarily stunned before he couldn’t help but burst into laughter. There was Emily Silverstone, driving her sports car at a leisurely pace, with a few thugs tirelessly chasing after her. Whenever the thugs started to tire, Emily would stop the car and then shout, “If you dare, come and hit me!”
The thugs were incredibly angry, but powerless against Emily Silverstone, making the whole scene quite comical.
Chris couldn’t be bothered with Emily Silverstone; to be honest, he had no fondness for her. A child always fooling around in the streets clearly lacked discipline. Without further ado, Chris and Tiger headed straight for Middleton Airport. After reaching Middleton Airport, Chris boarded a private jet and left Middleton.
The plane landed at East Coast Airport around eight o’clock in the evening. Stepping off the plane, Chris breathed a sigh of relief. His departure from East Coast to Middleton had been about a month, but it felt much longer to Chris. Perhaps, deep down, he had come to think of East Coast as home.
Exiting the airport, Bull and others from the East Coast Securities were already there to pick him up. Dressed in black suits, they formed a tight perimeter around the airport, causing other passengers to look on with sudden alarm. It was clear a significant figure was arriving.
Walking through the airport corridor, Chris saw Bull, James Mester, Phoenix, and others. Given the uproar Chris had caused in Middleton, it was no surprise to Phoenix and the others.
“Tiger!”
Phoenix exclaimed with excitement.
“Hahaha, Phoenix!”
Tiger laughed loudly, and the two embraced each other warmly. Chris smiled at this sight.
Before boarding the plane, Chris had called Esther to tell her he would be returning to East Coast. However, Esther was too busy with work to come to the airport. By the time Chris arrived at the villa, it was already ten at night. Esther and Juliette had already finished work and were at home. Knowing of Chris’s return, May had prepared a feast in anticipation.
As Chris entered the villa’s hall, Juliette immediately stood up and said, “Chris, did you miss me while you were gone?”
Chris replied, a bit annoyed, “Juliette, saying that in front of your sister-in-law, aren’t you afraid she’ll get jealous?”
Juliette stuck out her tongue and said, “Esther isn’t that petty.”
Hearing this, Esther smiled. In the past, Esther would have been jealous, but after spending so much time together, she knew Juliette and Chris were just siblings, and her jealousy had faded.
Chris looked around curiously and asked, “Darling, where are your parents?”
Esther replied, “Dear, my parents have gone to Jefferson village for the ancestral rites.”
The village held these rites annually, and previously, only John would attend. Surprisingly, this year Susan had also gone. Perhaps Susan, after being kidnapped last time, was afraid to stay in East Coast.
After dinner, Juliette went to her room to sleep. Chris and Esther also retired to their room.
“Darling, did you miss me?”
Chris asked, embracing Esther with a laugh. Blushing, Esther responded, “Darling…”
“Alright, no more talking, kiss me!”
“You’re terrible…” The following day, Chris didn’t get up until nearly ten o’clock. It had been an exhausting night! Suddenly, as Chris was having breakfast, Bull called.
“Bull, is there something you need?”
“Mr. Shelby, I have something to tell you! Recently, a large influx of forces has arrived on the East Coast, apparently looking for something.”
Upon hearing this, Chris’s expression grew solemn.
“Not only that, but Ironheart Steer, the boss of Crazy Steer, has also appeared on the East Coast.”
“Ironheart Steer?”
At this, Chris’s expression changed.
Previously, Ironheart Steer had caused quite a stir on the East Coast.
However, after Crazy Steer was annihilated by Chris, Ironheart Steer had disappeared.
It was unexpected that after so long, Ironheart Steer had reappeared.
Chris said sternly, “Bull, keep a close watch on Ironheart Steer’s movements. Inform me immediately of any news about him.”
“Yes!”
After hanging up the phone, Chris didn’t take it too seriously.
After all, Ironheart Steer was now just a stray dog; what could he possibly do?
His concern for Ironheart Steer was merely to prevent him from causing harm and troubling the common people.
By noon, Esther called to say a distant cousin had come to visit.
Chris didn’t pay it much mind and later drove to the Chester Group to pick up Esther from work.
Upon entering Esther’s office, Chris saw, aside from Esther, a strange man.
Chris paused, then realized.
This man must be the distant cousin Esther had mentioned on the phone.
Esther’s cousin was dressed in a branded suit and seemed to be doing quite well.
Esther smiled and said, “Dear, let me introduce you, this is my distant cousin, Bald Rivers.”
“Ah? Bald Rivers!”
At this, Chris couldn’t help but pause.
Chris carefully looked at Bald Rivers, who indeed looked as his name suggested.
Seeing Chris’s expression, Bald Rivers was visibly annoyed.
Bald Rivers said irritably, “I had this name long before I went bald!”
The more Bald Rivers tried to explain, the more muddled it became.
Indeed, the name Bald Rivers had been a source of ridicule since childhood.
Thus, Bald Rivers always hated when people made fun of his name.
Chris, trying to suppress a laugh, approached and said, “Cousin Bald, nice to meet you, I’m Esther’s husband, Chris!”
Seeing Chris’s reaction, Bald Rivers felt like slapping him.
“So you’re my cousin’s husband Chris? Seeing is truly believing, and indeed, you’re just a pretty boy living off his wife!”
Bald Rivers said mockingly.
Bald Rivers, being a distant cousin, had little prior contact with the Jefferson family.
Previously, he had only heard about Esther marrying a man who moved into her family, but he knew little about the specifics.
“Ah?”
Hearing this, Chris was taken aback.
Then, he chuckled lightly.
It seemed Bald Rivers was not aware of his current status, quite amusing!
Bald Rivers, looking disdainfully at Chris, said, “I heard from my aunt that you just mooch off the Jefferson family. You never work, just living off your wife at home. A man like you is a disgrace to all men.”
“I’ll introduce myself. I’ve started a company in the south, valued over a hundred million dollars and soon to go public. I’m considered accomplished for my age. Compared to a moocher like you, there’s no comparison…”
