Looking at the imposing George, Eddie’s anger leveled off. He had to bow his head since he was under someone else’s roof. He was now in Vernon. If this were the Northwest, no one would dare do this to him. It was all his own fault. Why did he feel bored of the Northwest and come here?
“What? By the look in your eyes, you seem defiant?” As he said that, George once again walked up and kicked Eddie a few more times. Eddie felt intense pain out of each kick.
It didn’t take long for Eddie to get a bruised and swollen face.
“George, George! Stop! Stop!” He couldn’t withstand the kicks from George, and his arrogance was gone in an instant.
When George heard Eddie, he stopped and spat again on Eddie. He pointed at Eddie with anger and said, “I would have killed you already if you weren’t a Trenton.”
Speaking here, he waved his hand and said, “Forget it. Since you have once contributed, get lost! Don’t let me see you again in the future, or I’ll beat you up every time I see you. You brat got me slapped today.”
When he finished speaking, he turned and headed for the chair he had just been sitting in.
Eddie choked on his saliva, endured the sharp pain in his body, and slowly stood up from the floor, looking at George’s back, he said cautiously, “George, I will leave, but I have a request.”
George stood there, turned to stare at Eddie, and asked, “What request?”
Eddie asked, “Can you give Iyana back to me?”
Hearing this, George froze for a moment, then laughed as if he had heard a joke.
After laughing maniacally, George fell silent, leaned in close to Eddie, and asked, “What did you just say? I didn’t hear you.”
Seeing this somewhat perverted look on George’s face, Eddie braced himself and decided to say it again, “I said, can you give Iyana back to me? I promise to disappear from Vernon forever!”
“Give her back?” George nodded slightly, then clapped his hands, signaling Iyana to come out.
Soon, a woman dressed in a gown was seen walking out of a door next to the chair. The woman was dressed nobly with elegant makeup on her face. She was so beautiful, like a queen. Her plump figure and long legs coupled with the fish-tail gown were so tempting.
Eddie stared at Iyana in disbelief. Was this really his ex-girlfriend? The same woman who came here with him from the Northwest? She had captured his attention so beautifully. She was so beautiful that he fell for her all over again.
Even though they had been together, seeing her like this now, he realized what a treasury of a woman he had lost. In this gown, she was simply the most attractive woman in the world.
George made his way over towards her and when he came to the woman, he raised his hand and slapped the woman on the hip, then looked at Eddie with provocative eyes and asked, “Is this who you’re talking about?”
Eddie was shocked. In comparison, George was fat and rugged and looked like a pig. When he patted Iyana’s hips, it was disgusting.
“If you mean her, you can ask if she will go with you. If she decides to go with you, I will not stop her.” With those words, George’s hands roamed over Iyana’s body again.
Eddie yelled at Iyana, “Iyana, come on. I’ll take you back to the Northwest.”
Iyana’s eyes were on Eddie for a moment, her gaze was indifferent and her face was expressionless. She looked devoid of any emotion at all. This was the woman who was deeply in love with him. This was the first time Eddie had seen such a look on her face.
“Iyana, I know I’ve made you suffer, and that I’ve done something really horrible. But don’t worry, as soon as we get back to the Northwest, I will definitely talk to my Grandpa and marry you! I won’t let you suffer this year in vain.”
Iyana gazed into Eddie’s eyes, her eyes as dull as ever.
Eddie continued, “Iyana, come on! Let’s go home, now.”
Suddenly, Iyana smiled.
Then followed a sneer. She took two steps forward and asked, “Eddie, I feel sorry for you.”
Eddie’s entire body froze, and then he sized Iyana up from top to bottom.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
Iyana once again gave a cold sneer, then said, “Don’t you think you’re pathetic and ridiculous? What do you take me for? Do you think I’m just a doll that you can call your own? I admit that I did like you before, that’s because I don’t know what real love is. But now, I don’t like you anymore, the man I like is George and George has shown me what love is, what a real man is.”
Eddie froze at her words, his eyes slowly turning glum as he looked at Iyana. What the fuck was that? Were those words coming from the woman who used to do everything he asked her to?
“Iyana, I know you hate me, but I promise I’ll treat you right from now on. I will marry you, for sure.” Eddie shouted excitedly at Iyana.
Iyana shook her head at Eddie and said, “Eddie, don’t you understand? I don’t hate you, on the contrary, I want to thank you for sending me to George, for letting me see a truly formidable man, and for letting me enjoy the things a real woman should enjoy.”
These words were like a knife, plunged inside Eddie’s heart. It was painful, heartbreakingly painful. He felt like he was suffocating from the pain. The woman who used to be his talked to him like that!
“And don’t tempt me with any offer to marry me. It’s no use. I can’t leave George now. I want to be by George’s side. Being with you is just being a widow. That’s not a life to live.”
