Alonso
I take Viona’s hand and kiss her knuckles in an attempt to relieve her anxiety. I know she is anxious. Today, we are finally telling my son about us.
” Calm down will you? Alvin isn’t going to eat you. ” I say jokingly and Viona’s lips lift just slightly.
” He’s going to hate me, ” She says, a bit more seriously than I would like.
” He will not, ” I respond, giving her hand a squeeze.
I know that Alvin will be fine with it. Maybe be shocked at first but then, he will be fine eventually.
” I can’t help it, Alonso. I don’t want your son looking at me as if I am some whore or something, ” Viona says.
She’s been nervous about this day since I told her I wanted to tell Alvin about our relationship. After Harriet arrived at my office unannounced, I figured that it was about time Viona met my family, officially.
I can’t risk Harriet whispering into Alvin’s ears into thinking that we can be a family again.
I understand Viona’s worry. This is my son and if he does not approve, things can get complicated. I do not want that. I want to keep Viona in my life.
I pull her hand towards me and give it a soft kiss. ” Everything will be fine, my dear. Trust me, ” I say, giving her a small smile.
Viona nods. I see the fear still evident in her eyes. It’s now my job to reassure her that everything is going to be alright.
” I trust you, ” Viona whispers.
The doorbell rings and I sigh. Well, there’s no turning back now.
” Do you want me to get the door or you will? ” I ask and she glares at me.
” You are such a smartass, ” She snaps and I laugh, walking away.
I make it to the front door and open it to find Alvin smiling up at me.
” Dad! ” He exclaims, throwing himself at me and I hold him in a tight embrace.
” How are you? ” I ask, pulling away and Alvin shrugs.
” Good. Look who decided to tag along. ” He adds, moving aside and that’s when I see her, Harriet.
Besides her is Amber who shakes her head apologetically to me.
I turn to Alvin who is now grinning at me.
” Why did you bring her to my house?” I snap at him. At first, he looks shocked before he smiles it off.
” Don’t pull my legs dad. She told me that you agreed to give her another chance, ” He responds.
I sigh, running a hand through my hair. ” Alvin, you are so…” I stop midway, shaking my head.
” You believed her? Even brought her home without talking to me? Am I still your father , Alvin. ” I practically bark mh frustration.
The fact that what I was afraid of was already happening rubbed me the wrong way and to think Alvin considered Harriet’s words without asking me? After she abandoned us for years?
” Alonso, why don’t we go inside and talk this through? It’s not a good sight to the neighbours to have this discussion out here. ” Amber tries to mediate seeing my anger.
” What’s going on here? I heard you guys arguing. ” Viona says, walking to us.
Harriet’s face changes from her fake concern to disgust.
” What is she doing here, Alonso? You are sleeping around with this whore? I knew something was wrong with her when I saw her at the office.” She spits at Viona who rolls her eyes.
I step in front of her, trying to protect her.
” You have no right to call the woman I love a whore, Harriet. ” I bark with gritted teeth.
” Love? ” Alvin questions.
I turn to him and his eyes are filled with anger.
” Why didn’t you tell me about her? Is she the one you’ve been talking about all this while?”
I pull Viona closer and look him in the eye.
” Yes, and I love her Alvin. With everything in me, I love her and I plan on marrying her. ”
It’s now or never. Since things have come to this, I plan on making my intentions on Viona known not only to my family, but to her too.
Viona gasps, looking at me with a smile on her beautiful face. I fight not to lean in and kiss her amidst the whole drama.
Alvin stares at me, his jaw clenching and unclenching.
” You should have told me about her. I would have given you my approval . You shouldn’t have kept…”
” I kept nothing from you, my son. Viona was not ready and I respected that. Today is the day we planned on telling you if you didn’t bring your mother to ruin the moment, ” I snap, cutting Alvin off.
I was not going to let him accuse me of keeping Viona a secret.
” I thought you two… ”
” You thought nothing, Alvin. You should have discussed this, ” I say, pointing at Harriet, ” Before you brought her here. When she left, I was there for you all through. Now that she came to you with crocodile tears, you chose her over me? ”
” I am sorry. ” Alvin apologises and I shake my head.
” It is ok. Now, please leave and take her with you. You can come and visit whenever you feel like it, ” I say, looking him in the eye.
” You are kicking your son out? Because of this bitch! ” Harriet yells, her eyes filled with resentment.
” Stop it if you still want me to acknowledge you as my mother. You lied to me. You used me to get to father, mom. After all this time, I thought I could trust you but I was wrong. ” Alvin yells.
Harriet looks shocked for a few seconds before she regains her composure.
” Are you also turning your back on me?” She asks and Alvin laughs dryly.
” What kind of mother are you, huh? The one who leaves her husband and child without an explanation or the one who is now here to play games? ”
” I have my reasons. Your father can’t love you like I do. I did it for you Alvin. To give you a better life and not live in this hell hole, ” Harriet explains, tears in her eyes.
I roll my eyes in disgust. What nonsense! Even a child would find them unconvincing.
” Yet I am happy in this hellhole. The one you are desperate to return to. Let’s go. ” Alvin snaps before dragging Harriet away.
” I’ll see you soon Alonso. And Viona, I know it’s not my place to say this but welcome to the family. ” Amber says with a smile before following the others.
” Are you ok? ” I hear Viona ask and I realise I’ve been silent.
I sigh, shaking my head.
” Not really. Alvin should have just talked to me first. He shouldn’t have gone behind my back. ” I explain. No matter how I try, I can’t hide the disappointment crawling inside me.
” Maybe, he wanted to surprise you, ” Viona says and I scoff.
” He has a funny way of surprising people. ”
” Well, that’s true. Now, how about we move past this and have a great evening. We can skip lunch and eat each other instead.” Viona proposes, a wicked glint in her eyes.
That gets me laughing. She knows how to calm me.
” What is with you and eating? ” I question, taking her hand and walking into the house.
” Well, we eat and get energy, we eat again and then sleep. I just love eating, especially what’s between your thighs, ” Viona purrs.
I can’t help but groan at the dirty thoughts running through my head.
” You are such a naughty girl. ” I tease, leading her up the stairs.
” Just wait till we get into the room. It will be a feast, ” Viona teases and I bite my lower lip.
I can’t wait to have her under me.
” You will have me cumming within a few minutes if you keep that up, ” I tell her.
