“When you say take care of him, what do you mean?” I asked Klaus as I took a piece of chopped and braided lamb in my mouth and I felt it melt there.
I was starving.
Wow!
“Oh my goodness! This is delicious!” I said as I took yet another one.
“Enjoy if you like it,” he said as he poured me a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
I wondered where he found time to do all this while still running the conglomerate.
“Have you eaten? We can share,” I asked him.
“Mine’s at the dining table. I will eat after this,” he said and I couldn’t let him.
“No. Let’s eat together,” I said as I carefully lifted the small table that was holding the tray on the bed.
“Help me here,” I requested when I found it difficult to move with the tray in my hands.
I found that after a night and morning of sexercise and with my sore muscles, I wasn’t as flexible as I usually was on a normal day.
“Are you sure? I could bring my food here and we could both eat from the bedroom,” he offered but he had already done a lot.
“No. It’s time I also woke up. Let’s go to the dining table,” I said and by then, I was already and my legs became wobbly and I had to steady myself with the bed.
“Are you okay? You don’t have to move,” he said looking all worried as he went to put the tray he was holding on the bed but I stopped him.
“I’m okay. What do you think is the effect of all the lying down? My legs just need a moment,” I said and a moment did it take and I was able to stand up straight.
We walked to the dining area and even though I wasn’t in any kind of pain, my whole body was just sore and I felt as if I had been run over by a trailer track full of a very heavy load.
“You haven’t answered me,” I reminded him.
I needed to know what he planned to do with Tony.
“Oh, about Tony? I will just let him know who you belong to and make sure that he never bothers you again.
Can I tell you something?” He then asked me and from his serious face, I could tell it was something serious.
“Yeah. Go ahead,” I said while chopping my food.
It was so delicious that I was just hungry or my appetite was through the roof… I couldn’t tell. What I could tell was that this wasn’t my normal eating appetite and it was a good thing that Klaus never cared how I ate.
“I have been keeping tabs on Tony,” he said and I wasn’t surprised because that was something I would expect from Klaus with all his connections.
“And…” I asked.
“Apparently, he wasn’t as rich as Linda thought and she started sleeping around barely a month after they settled in Maple City,” he said and by now, my mouth was agape.
“A month? Like one month? Thirty days? Wow! That was quick. Who does that?” I wondered out loud.
“Apparently, Linda does. I was hurt by what Tony did to you and … it hurt me to see you suffer and I wanted to help you get back at them,” at that, I was looking at him with a spoonful of rice hanging in the air midway to my mouth but it froze there.
He was so sweet.
“Awww! Thank you. So, what did you do?” I asked as I wanted all the juice.
“You are not mad?” He asked me and I laughed.
“Why should I be mad at you? I could kiss right now for thinking of me and getting back at them.
Though I knew they wouldn’t last because Tony was just one of the men Linda had been with since we entered college.
In high school, she had more boyfriends than I could count.
We called “honey” because of how she attracted men like insects to honey.
So, what did you do?” I said and then asked and Klaus was cracking from laughter.
“Did she know what you called her?” He asked, still laughing.
“Of course and she usually said it was true. She always said that if a man’s worth drops, she would drop him like a hot potato.
And to her, a man’s worth was money. So, I am not surprised when you say that Tony wasn’t as rich as she thought,” I explained and he sighed.
“I added to his predicament. You see, after we became friends and he was your boyfriend and me loving you from the sides, I decided to help him for your sake.
You already knew what you would do and had started your flower business that did very well and Tony was still tarmacking.
So, I gave him a job at Green World and with his brain, he would have gone far.
I wanted to see his potential and then I would have let him run one of my subsidiary companies,” he said and I raised my hand to stop him as I swallowed.
“Wait… wait. So, are you telling me you own Green World?” I asked him because…
Green World was like the largest distributor of Green Organic groceries all over the place and had over a thousand branches world wide. It was in seventy two countries all over America, Africa and Asia.
“Yes. It is one of my smaller enterprises that I started without dad’s help.
I wanted to show my dad that I could also do what he could,” Klaus said as if he wasn’t talking about a multi billion dollar franchise.
“Wow! So- so – ahem- what happened to Tony?” I swallowed my curiosity because this was more than I expected.
“Tony started slagging after he got together with Linda and he started manipulating the books and taking petty cash without authorization and he was eventually caught.
It didn’t take long since we have a very strict system and as a result, he was fired and they wanted to sue him but when it came to me for the final authorization so that we could involve our lawyers, I asked them to leave it to me.
I called him and asked him not to show his face to me because then, I would sue him.
I let it go because he was once my friend.
So, with the small money he has saved, he tried starting a small eatery but it didn’t pick up because he tried going through the back doors into getting licences and he hired unqualified chefs and it didn’t do well and it’s no wonder that he is back trying to pick up the pieces,” Klaus explained and I had even stopped eating.
“Wow! So he has sunk that low?” Did I feel bad for him?
No.
To me, he had become just another person in the world and he was worse than a stranger to me because I would at least give food to a homeless person I don’t know but never to Tony.
“What about Linda?” I wanted to know.
“She is doing what she does best. She’s an escort to a wealthy man and she is in Asia on a tour with him as we speak,” Klaus said and … yeah. Let Tony learn his lesson.
“So, will you meet him?” Klaus asked me.
“Will you go with me?” I threw back.
“If you want me to be there, I will be honoured to,” he said and I smiled at him.
“We will go to see him together but let’s do something first,” I said and he raised his eyebrow in question.
“Let’s get married first so that we could meet him as husband and wife,” I said and Klaus let his spoon fall with a klang sound as he stood up.
“Please tell me you are serious,” he said as he lifted me from my seat and I was floating in the air as he spun me while he laughed joyously.
