Vera’s POV.
I gasp at the splash of cold water on my face, waking up from sleep. My eyes bulge as I take in my surroundings.
The room is bright, unlike before when it was all dark. But this isn’t just a room, it looks like an office. But a huge one.
There’s a billiards table in the center with an overhead light.
But that’s not what makes my heart slump.
It’s the number of scary-looking men in the room, surrounding me like predators.
My eyes scan them all. Tattoos both on their faces and body, piercing around their eyebrows, ears, and the corner of their lips. Some have a bald head, long hair, and short hair.
My heart pulses as I examine the men more.
None of their faces looks familiar.
Since we got here, Russia, I’ve been in and out of consciousness.
Actually, this is the first time I’ve taken out time to see my surroundings and the strange faces here.
I nearly pee on my panties as I watch these men.
Who are they?
“So, this is the bitch we’ve looking for, huh?”
One of them says in accented language.
“Shh, Igor. She’s the boss’s bride. Besides, she isn’t just a bitch…” Another one with light brown hair says, turning to look at me. “She’s the late Pakhan’s granddaughter.”
The way they keep talking about this grandfather of mine shows he was a powerful man was he was alive.
“Yeah…right. But it doesn’t stop us from having fun, does it?” The first, huge guy asks.
When he looks over at me again, his face glints with lust.
I squirm in my seat, wanting to break free.
“I guess. Besides, she’s only a means to an end for the boss…”
“I knew that much.” Another chirps. “I must admit, her skin is to die for…” The man steps closer to me and grazes his finger on my arm. “Skin’s so silky. Says so much about her pussy.”
Hearing that makes me cringe! On reflex, I spit on the man’s hand.
He pulls his hand back sharply and stares at it, disgust crosses his face.
“Cyka!” He says and slaps me hard on the face, my head dangles to the side.
I see stars running behind my eyes. Tears sting my eyes as it drops down to my cheeks.
I feel pain sear through me when the man grabs my hair in a bruising grip.
I can’t talk. All my energy has been sapped that’s why I only whimper.
“Better put on your best behavior. Else staying in this Red Room till your wedding will be hell.” He snarls into my face.
My brows arch. Red room?
Is that what this hellhole is called?
I still don’t talk, only watching the men switch to Russia, talking amongst themselves and something tells me they’re talking about me.
The door to the Red room opens to reveal a man in a wheelchair and standing behind him is another replica of the one in the wheelchair. And that’s Anton.
My eyes wander back to the one in the wheelchair, and I take in the striking resemblance.
That’s when I confirmed the whispers I heard here before. They’re the Sokolov twins.
As if noticing that I’ve realized who they are, Anton drags his brother closer.
“So you’re Vera?” The man in the wheelchair asks. I don’t respond to confirm his words.
“The looks say it all, brother. She’s the Pakhan’s granddaughter. The gem we’ve been looking for.” Anton says and smirks.
His brother does too but none of that reaches their eyes.
“Then, let’s get the nuptials ready. Once the people on the dance floor left. We bring in the priest.” Anton’s brother declares.
“I support that brother.”
Their words only send shivers down my spine.
They’re truly going to marry me?
God, no.
I can’t let that happen. I’m fucking pregnant with David’s child.
I don’t even love them to begin with!
At that, I start struggling against the ropes binding me in place.
Sudden strength fills me and I mutter.
“I’ll never marry you people. Power thirst bastards!”
The men in the room share a look amongst themselves before breaking into laughter.
The twin in the wheelchair draws close to me and leans in. I can almost feel the caress of his breath.
“You see me here, sitting in a wheelchair? Fuck, that shit happened when we were fighting on who’s gonna own you. So, now we’ve gotten you, you think we’re going to let go?”
“Fuck no. Never!” Anton seconds his brother’s words.
“That’s right, chick. We don’t plan to do so. You better behave. You’re our bride. And tonight we put a ring on that damn finger!” The one in a wheelchair says to my horror.
I’m doomed.
To seal their words, the twins do something I never thought of.
Pulling my face up, the one in a wheelchair presses his lips on mine, sucking my mouth into his.
Quickly, Anton swoops down too, and takes my lips from his brothers. It was harsh, rough, borderline painful.
When they pull away, I break into tears.
This is doom. I’m doomed.

The Red room is chilly, a telltale sign of the cold outside. It’s Fall, I guess that’s why it’s that way.
I hear the blast of music coming from the dancefloor beyond, telling me this is a club. Maybe it’s theirs.
While my thoughts run wild, I sit, shivering in the cold and knowing that David won’t save me.
“Get her!”
A voice comes beyond the door and it’s pulled open quickly, three men surge into the room and free me.
From their looks, they’re the twins’ men.
Once they plant me on my feet, their rough hands chain my arms as they lead me away.
From the hallway, the blasts of music become high. Not the dull sound from before.
I whimper as they all drag me down, towards the loud dancefloor, my legs threatening to buckle.
However, as we reach the extreme of the hallway, another strange sound mixes with the loud music.
Ratatat!
Gunshots, I think as panic takes over me quickly. Everyone on the dancefloor screams and starts scampering to safety.
More shocking rounds of gunshots go out. Screams follow and I feel the Bykis panic and pull me back.
“Hide the girl!”
The one standing before me tells the order. I’m panicking.
The fear that this might be my last time on earth trickles through me.
The guards fiercely push me into a tiny, confined space that’s dark.
The space I’m in and the gunshots are making me have a strong panic attack.
I feel nauseous immediately and I start throwing up.

>>>Third Person POV.>>>
The Red Room had turned into a battlefield since David and his clique arrived.
Guns were wielded in their arms, both groups exchanged bullets.
With the help of Peter, David and his gang breached the twins’ security which granted them access to the mansion.
However, plans changed when found out Vera nor the twins were there.
Then they all headed straight down to the club. Though it wasn’t part of David’s plan to attack when people were here the twins first released the shot among the throng of people.
The crossfire continued, Peter, firing at Anton’s men. Nathan and his guys focused on finishing the hundreds of the twins Bykis.
The dancefloor which was filled with merriment before was now a pool of several people’s blood.
Bullets are flying up and down in the room.
Bottles breaking and grunts of pain filled the air.
“I’m going to get her!” David says to Nathan who nods..
While shooting at the enemy’s men, David went in search of Vera.
But hot on his tail was Andrei.
As both men dashed into the hallway, they saw Alexei dragging Vera away, holding a gun to her head.
“Fuck!” David cursed and shot at him unfortunately the bullet missed.
Alexei was a little quick enough to drag Vera out into the night, damming all the pain he felt.
He tugged her towards the Sedan that the passenger’s door was open.
He pushed Vera in forcefully, not minding her cries of pain. He squeezed into the car and Anton who was in the driver’s seat, put the car in gear.
They were already zooming off when David and Andrei dashed into the alley.
“Shit!” David cussed as his eyes darted around for a solution.
Seeing the bike lying idly against a wall, David and Andrei rushed off.
Quickly, David pulled the wires together and started the bike, he jumped into it, firing the ignition while Andrei jumped in behind him.
Then, they zoomed off, chasing after the twins, wanting to rescue Vera.
Twenty miles down the slightly busy road, the twins drove in such a way they’d get the David off their tails. That was impossible not when David’s eyes were darting like an eagle’s.
At the next intersection, the twins and David screeched to a halt when they saw the twelve hefty men blocking the road with their Escalade.
Panic surged through David and he asked.
“Who are they?”
Andrei hissed and muttered. “The Red Kings.”
As those words fell from Andrei’s lips, a crossfire broke out.
From the twins side…
From the Red Kings’ side.
And from David and Andrei.
While they were firing each other, bullets raining, Nathan and the rest of the gang came out too and joined in the bloody war of survival.
The clusterfuck between the three groups allowed David to snake into the twins Sedan, where the numb Vera was.
“Baby. I’m here…” David muttered, wanting to wake her.
“Is that you, David?” She asked, stunned.
“Yes. Listen to me, no matter what, Vera, don’t leave my sight.”
Vera was already nodding before David finished.
Assured, he took her shaky hand and they made their way out of the car, through the flying bullets, to a safer side of the street.
With that, David went back into fighting. He took a rifle and began a mad shooting spree.
In that hazy moment, he shot Alexei straight through the back.
At the fall of his brother, Anton went crazy. His shooting lost target. He began a wild shooting, taking down his guards.
And in that process of wild, crazy shooting, Anton shot at Peter who equally shot at Anton.
As both men collapsed on their feet, David took off in a dead run towards Vera.
Things went by so fast, and in the next breathing moment, they were all back in their jet, flying back to the States.
However, half of them obtained injuries.
The bloody war was still a surprise to David and Vera, as well as every other person on the plane.
David cradled Vera like a precious stone in his arms. Breathing heavily in blood and sweat, he decided to check his phone.
That was when he found the incriminating videos of him and Vera all over the news.
Claire had done it, telling the world David Truman had been abusing his foster daughter. And that he was a pedophile.
At that moment, David dammed all the consequences. He decided to go by the solution that pumped into his mind.
He hooked his hand under Vera’s chin and muttered. “Vera, we’re getting married tonight.”
At that, they changed their direction, heading to Las Vegas to wed.
In blood, sweat, and tears, David and Vera took the forever vows.
All consequences be dammed, Vera was his and he belonged to Vera.
