110.
Vera’s POV.
I wake up with a wince leaving my lips and then searing pains shooting through my body.
I pause slightly, wanting to understand where the pain is coming from, and then like a train on speed, the memories hit me.
I start dry heaving as I remember how I left David in the restroom…
How I met Claire in the hallway glaring at me.
How she called me a bitch and I scowled.
Then, how I was heading back to the practice room when I saw someone running away from me.
“Who are you?” I had barked, chasing after that person but I couldn’t see his face. I wondered what the person must have stolen but it was only when I was on the stage that I realized what they had done.
My heels broke, and that reminds me now that…I must have broken my ankle.
Out of fear, I screamed, bashing my eyes open only to feel a pair of hands grip me.
“Calm down, Vera. I’m here…”
Wildly, I roamed my gaze from the ceiling and then to David.
“You’re here?” I asked, feeling the fear leaving my body.
“Yes, I am. I’m here.” He said, caressing my arm.
I look around slowly and find out we’re still in the hospital. Just as David sits back down in his seat, my eyes clash with Claire’s, and bitterness fills my heart.
I hate that she’s here.
“Uh…Vera, Claire just dropped by to check up on you.” David says in her place.
I didn’t speak, much less nod. I only tear my gaze away from her. I hate bad energy and Claire has it a lot.
I just wish I could accuse her as the person who did this to me.
I drag my eyes around my body and I see the gauze wrapped in my left ankle and a sling in my right arm
Hurts like a bitch.
“I’m really sorry I wasn’t there in time to break your fall,” David says, guilt lacing his words.
I shake my head, peering up at him. “That’s bullshit. It wasn’t your fault, Daddy. Someone else did this.”
As the words leave my lips, the door pushes open and Andrei walks in with a sling on his arm too and the doctor in his tow.
Wow, never knew the big man was hurt.
What happened to him?
“Hey, Vee.” He croaked, waving at me.
I chuckle, pointing at my arm. “Guess we’re in the same league.”
Though I said it to relieve tension, David’s lips were crunched together in anger.
The doctor checks me and says I’ll be discharged but we’ll hire an orthopedic specialist.
“Thanks, doc, have any idea of the best one in the city?” He asks.
The doctor gives his words a thought before nodding.
“Yes, I’ll send his number to you.” He says.
When he leaves, Andrei walks closer to me and asks in a low voice. “Did you see the face of the man that did this? I mean broke your heels and used fake gum?”
My eyes wander around, briefly meeting Claire’s. David follows the direction of my gaze too and watches Claire.
“What? Are you trying to accuse me?” She says. That reminds me it’s actually the first thing she’s said since I woke up.
“I never said a thing, Ms. Claire.” I snap at her and hiss. Watching David again, I say. “I didn’t. Too bad.”
“I’ll have that investigated…” He states, closing his grip protectively around mine.

>>> Claire’s POV.>>>
As a wise person, the best thing to do when your plans fail is to be around and read the environment before striking again.
And yes, that strategy just helped me.
David might think I’ve been in the hospital for two days out of the goodness of my heart but it’s way beyond that.
And thankfully, it worked.
The moment the bitch woke up, I anticipated the words she’d say something because I knew it was bound to happen.
I’m just glad the guy told me Vera saw him leaving the practice room.
Now that David wants to butt in his nose, I’ll have to do something and get rid of the evidence.
And I know the best way to do it.
I spent two whole days at home while the investigation was going on.
Then tonight, I decided to strike.
Having dressed up in nothing but black leather bodysuits, I hid my looks with makeup.
I know where Billy loves spending the night after a long day at Days Dream and I wait for him there.
Sitting in my car across the street, I watch the young man laugh and joke around with his lady conquests while I watch my time.
About three hours passed before he made the move to exit the diner.
As he set to leave, I covered my palms with gloves and sneaked out of my car.
Thank goodness the street is lonely and this side of the city has nothing like CCTV cameras.
That’s one of the things I observed.
I ready myself hiding just behind my car.
When he comes outside and puts the ladies in a cab, then moves towards his car, I rise to action.
The carefree young man is just about to open his driver’s side when I crawl behind him and sink the dagger inside him.
“Rest in peace, Billy,” I whisper to him as he goes putty in arms with blood escaping his lips.
The instant I ensured his pulse wasn’t beating again, I smiled and slinked away. Starting my car, I slide into the night and escape.
Victory tastes good.
In fact, it tastes better knowing I won both ways, hurting Vera and erasing the evidence.
Even though I’m supposed to feel bad for killing someone for the first time, I don’t. For David Truman, I’ll go to the ends of the earth until I have him.

>>>Vera’s POV>>>
“Thanks, Irene.” I hum, watching as the woman dabs the towel around my body, cleaning me up.
We’re back at the mansion, thanks to the accident. It’s been two days though but Irene has been the one helping me to bathe and eat. I brush my mouth myself even though David insists on doing it for me.
Yesterday, he insisted on doing it and I allowed him. So, the big man brushed my mouth for me.
I know why he didn’t bother washing me up is because he doesn’t want Irene to know he has seen everything about me.
“My pleasure, baby girl,” Irene says, petting my hair with the towel.
“The doctor will be here shortly. So let’s get you dressed.” I nod and she trots across the room to my closet.
Bringing out a pair of shorts and a camisole, she trots back to me and helps me wear them.
Fuck, my body is already shaking from the pains I’ll soon receive once the doctor is here.
Fixing fractured bones hurt like shit!
A while later, Irene helps me get down to the living room with the wheelchair and instead of taking the stairs, we use the elevator. It makes moving in the wheelchair easier.
There, the doctor already set to walk me through pains for today. He sent me a grin but I didn’t reciprocate, ’cause why would I?
Doctors sure know how to ‘bite you while petting you’ thing.
That smile he’s giving me is to only make me relax before the pain.
After discussing with David, he focuses his attention on me.
“Daddy, it’s gonna hurt.” I cry out.
David smiles knowingly and inches close to me.
“Don’t worry princess, it’ll stop soon. This will help you heal faster.” He whispers into my ear.
I must admit David is the best lover one can ever ask for. He had been with me for two days nonstop, checking up on me and doting on me.
Makes me love him all over again.
I brace myself for the pain and the doctor begins massaging my fractured ankle while I cry my eyes out…
***
It’s been an hour and the doctor stops the session for the day. I wipe my watery eyes and relax on the seat.
When the doctor leaves Andrei comes bearing bad news.
“The person responsible for Vera’s accident was found dead last night.”
My brows crease hearing that. David stills and stares at Andrei.
“How did he die suddenly when we’ve gotten a trace of him?”
Andrei shakes his head. “That I do not know. It makes me think someone else was behind that.”
“Find out whoever that is. I want them found. No one hurts my princess and goes free.” David orders, walking towards me.
I can see the look of fear in his expression but it’s nothing compared to mine.
Who must have killed the guy?
David rubs my knee, dropping on his haunches.
“Baby, I don’t want you worrying about that, let me worry about it, okay?”
Blinking, I nod slowly at his words, feeling secure.
“Thanks, Daddy.”
He grins and tips my chin with his thumb and index finger.
“How about we go somewhere cool that’ll help your recovery, hmm?” He asks.
“You mean, like going on a vacation?”
“Yes, baby. You and me. We’ll have a visitor in between and your doctor can always fly in and treat you as always. What do you say?” He asks.
Smiling, I whisper. “I’m in.”
To seal the deal, David tilts close and perches his lips on my forehead…
I’ve never been on a vacation but what makes me more happy is going there with the man I love.
To be continued…
