Third Person POV.
Andrei had just finished his morning exercise and was profusely sweating, and so the huge man took down the hallway and marched into his room where he showered.
He fixed himself in his shirt and had his hair slicked aside, looking sinister as he always did. Like a boogeyman. However, Andrei knew women found him hot despite his scary size.
By the time he was satisfied with his look, he walked outside. His stomach was grumbling, a telltale sign of his hunger.
Well, Irene wouldn’t show up today given what David told him before leaving that morning. He told Andrei Irene needed to take her stepdaughter who was having a fever to the hospital.
Andrei took that opportunity to whip himself a meal. He had gathered all he would use and prepared the pasta.
Moments after he was into his work, he heard footsteps approaching.
“Oh, wow. I’d like to have some, Andrei.” He had heard Vera’s voice intercepting the silent air.
“Hmmm..” Andrei hummed and refocused on his food. However, he noticed the change in the way Vera had dressed and he became curious.
Being a man of few words, Andrei didn’t ask Vera what the occasion was, instead, he continued cutting the vegetables for the pasta, and then after, he worked on whipping his marinated chicken.
In short moments, Andrei served the meals with Vera diving into it, scooping a large spoonful.
They ate in silence throughout the long minutes they were suspended in the dining area.
Vera was quick to devour hers, in contentment, and took the dishes to the dishwasher.
“Uh…Andrei, I’d need you to drive me to the Palace, I need to get some things fixed.” Vera said, perching against the sink while looking at the huge man.
Andrei’s brows curled up in question, then. “Why there?”
Vera heaved a sigh. “Please, Andrei just drive me there I don’t want questions.”
The man gave the girl a long look and then walked outside ahead of her. He revved up her Audi with Vera shoving inside.
Driving through the streets with a stern look on Andrei’s face, he felt the continuous vibration of his phone.
Andrei cursed, wondering who would be calling him in such a manner.
However, he didn’t respond to the call. He couldn’t until he parked the car somewhere safe.
After hours of driving to the Palace, one of the city’s biggest malls, he slid into the parking lot and Vera got out.
“Where are you going, Vera?” He barked when Vera got away from the car like a deer was hot on her tail.
“I’ll be back soon, Andrei. Just don’t follow me.” Vera gushed, stepping backward.
“Did you come to buy something? We could have just ordered.” He said in barely above a whisper.
He heard the string of breath Vera released and the big man knew his words were pissing the girl off.
It would piss her off but hey…they are just trying to keep her safe.
“I want to feel some fresh air not being shackled at home. So give me space, Andrei.”
With that last outburst, Vera walked away.
That gave Andrei the opportunity to check up on who had been calling him.
Grabbing his phone from his pocket, he saw Clinton’s name on his screen.
Andrei’s face drew together in a frown as he wondered what must have made Clinton call him.
Andrei and David employed a spy who watches any new movement of the mafias and their men into the States.
“Could something have happened to make Clinton call?” Andrei thought aloud.
He stole a last look from Vera’s direction to monitor the particular place she was going into and when he was sure Vera would be okay, Andrei moved inside the car and called Clinton.
“Any problem?” He quickly asked.
“Someone just came in.” Clinton’s voice made it to Andrei’s ears. “I got a signal right from the airport.” He added.
“Fuck!” Andrei smashed his fist on the steering wheel. “How long?” He asked.
“I don’t know exactly but it’s been two hours since I found out about his arrival.”
“I want him captured. The boss needs to know.”

Andrei had waited for hours for Vera to finish up but she hadn’t. Though she had texted him and requested
he exercised more patience which he did.
Everything with Vera should be done with patience.
However what got Andrei’s nerves fried was the newest member of the mafias that was in town.
Andrei didn’t know that person but he couldn’t wait to know.
While his mind jumped from one thought to another, he waited endlessly for Clinton’s call.
It took hours for Clinton to call and Andrei lunged at the phone with precision.
“He’s in a bar now. Alone….” Clinton’s voice echoed, making Andrei imagine the person drinking at the bar right now after tailing him.
“Just ensure you get him nabbed,” Andrei commanded.
The call ended and the huge man resumed his wishful thinking. The night sky revealed they had spent half of the day in the mall.
What could Vera be doing? He wondered while checking the time through his wristwatch.
It didn’t take hours for Clinton’s call to drop in again.
“Yes. Have you done it?” Andrei asked curtly.
“Yes. He has a tracker in his body.” Clinton stated through gritted teeth.
“Get it out,” Andrei commanded, losing patience.
“I don’t know how to do it.”
Clinton’s words made Andrei’s fury double.
He bit out amidst the anger taking his time to recollect himself.
“Just do it. Do the damn thing, Clinton.”
Clinton sighed and Andrei kept cool to know what Clinton would do next.
Just then he heard the flip of a knife.
He knew Clinton would find it difficult to do that because it wasn’t part of their plan but all consequences be dammed, Clinton should get rid of the tracker before the mafias track the person.
“All done.” Came Clinton’s words.
“Great. Bring him over then.”
He heard Clinton hum an okay before Andrei hung up and texted Clinton the location.
Just in time, the bubbly Vera came out of the mall bearing only a bag.
Just one bag contained the things Vera had been shopping for since they arrived there.
Well, the pressing issue hindered him from thoroughly questioning Vera rather he fluttered the backseat door open for her and she slid in.
Andrei drove Vera back to the mansion before moving out to meet with Clinton at the designated location.
As if on cue, both men arrived at the empty roadside and swapped the unconscious body of the target.
Andrei didn’t look at the person. He just drove straight to the old building in a clearing.
By the time he came out of the car, the moon was glowing against the trees, reaching him.
He heaved a sigh, slammed the door shut, and headed to the trunk where the captive was.
With a hard tug, he pulled the trunk open and staring wide eyes at him was…
“Peter!” Andrei’s gasp pulled Peter awake fully as he was already edging close to consciousness.
“You.” Peter rasped, Andrei cursed.
“Fuck!”
On a whim, Andrei slammed the trunk shut again, over Peter’s face.
He moved away but he heard Peter hitting the trunk to be let out.
Andrei didn’t mind. He only wanted to inform David about Peter’s presence.
As he dialed David’s number, the man picked up the second ring.
“Yes, Andrei?” David’s voice blared.
“Boss, you need to be here.”
“Why? What happened? Is Vera okay?”
“Vera is.” He paused, and exhaled. Then. “Vera’s father is in town.”
“Peter?” David asked, seeking clarity.
They never knew Peter was alive after all these years.
Shit.
“Yes. Very much alive.” Andrei gushed to David’s surprise.
“Where?” David asked.
“The mansion in the clearing.”
