Vera’s POV.
“So…what’s next?” Sage asks the instant Andrei pulls the car into Anita’s house. I briefed Sage on my reason for coming to the party because she suffocated me with questions when she came over to the house.
I know Sage wouldn’t let me proceed with anything until I tell her. So, yeah, I let her know about my counter with David and his obvious rejection.
I let her know that Claire wants to fill in the space I want for myself in David’s life and I can’t allow it.
I know I kinda sounded crazy but it was because I was desperate and I babbled everything I could.
For something like an eternity, Sage was watching me like I had lost a nut in my head. But her reactions afterward proved me wrong.
No. My BFF sympathized with me. She embraced me, showing her full support.
To show more support over this, Sage made me change the dress I was supposed to wear into something hotter. Very, sinfully, sexily hot.
A dress that had Andrei looking at me twice. The instant I milked that reaction from him, I knew David would twitch no matter the walls of control he’s trying to build up.
The white, turtle neck gown is flowy from my hips down to my legs with a long, wide slit. My back-all of it is open, showing off my creamy skin. The front side of the blouse has a slit too, popping out my cleavage down to the top of my torso.
It’s only a thin shred of the fabric that’s covering my nipples. So practically, some parts of the mounds of my breasts are showing.
She helped me pack my hair into a lower ponytail, just at the nape of my neck. Then the tresses of my hair now brush my open back.
Sage glammed me up, dabbing a thick red lipstick over my full lips. The artificial eyelashes look quite natural, a perfect blend with mine. Then she tops it all with a white round earring. I look almost like a model.
And just seeing myself in the mirror back at the house. One thing came to my mind. I’d make a good model. At that moment, I decided to venture into modeling the very moment I graduate from high school.
Andrei nearly ruined everything for me though but I stood my ground. I’m not one they’ll toy with. I clearly, firmly reminded the broody man that I was off my punishment.
I ordered him to bring me here. To this very party and he gave in after whining for however long.
The drive here, though, I felt kinda nervous. I’ve never been to a party outside of my high schoolmates. Plus the fact that I don’t
know Anita before, that I just suddenly
pleaded she handed me the invitation, it all makes feel nervous.
“Let’s just keep a firm expression.” I lean closer and whisper to Sage. She’s in a classic cocktail gown. A black one, contrasting to my white one.
I drive my gaze around the crowded room, filled with businessmen of all caliber. I notice the men’s ravishing gazes are pinned on me.
I feel shy, my legs almost give out. Jeez, is this how I’m going to embarrass myself? I shake my head discreetly. I can’t come all this way just to give up now.
I refuse to do that. At that firm decision, I square my shoulders with my head high.
It takes that moment for my wandering eyes to land on David’s, standing with a few women, Anita, that bitchy slut Claire and a man.
From the looks of it, the man must be the reason this party was held. I see them looking at me weirdly.
“Great then…let’s go.” Sage whispers back, you’ll rarely tell she’s moving those lips of hers when she’s whispering these things to me.
However, before we cross the distance between them and us, Anita bustles away from them and comes towards us, a grin etched onto her face.
“Oh, my!” She gasps softly, her eyes making a swift move around my body. She grins widely when she pulls her gaze up to me again. Smiling.
“Hi, Anita.” I call her, grinning shyly.
“Girl, you look breathtaking.” Anita booms, now hugging me and pecking my cheeks.
“Thank you.” I offer genuinely with a small grin on my face. “Congratulations to your husband.” I say softly but Anita gives my bicep a slight smack, giggling.
“I’m not the one you should say that to. You should say those to my husband.” She utters with a warm grin.
Before I can speak further, the woman says abruptly. “C’mon, let’s go over there so you can tell him yourself.”
Oh. I gasp inwardly with a slightly wide-eye as the woman drags me along. A sneak peek back, I see Sage giggling under her breath.
Damn, she’s enjoying my plight, obviously. By the time we get to their midst, David’s already devouring me with his eyes. Confusion
laced his depths. I wonder what he’s
thinking.
Anita introduces me to everyone. “Guys, meet Vera. We met each other at the yoga class today.” She speaks with genuine happiness on her face.
Wow, I never expected the woman to be this warm.
“I must say she did well since it was her first time, right Vera?” She throws her gaze my way. I nod.
As I try to gush some words, Claire butt in. “She’s David’s daughter.” She tsks.
Claire’s words grate my nerves, creating a spark of anger I tried to keep at bay.
At that, I gush, “No, he’s not…” My gaze briefly wander from Claire’s hot ones to David’s.
I see the bobbing of his throat as he swallows thickly. I break my gaze from his and refocus them back on Claire.
“He’s only my guardian. Soon, his guardianship will end, won’t it?” I trace my eyes to David as I ask, loving the startled look on his face.
“Yes. Apparently.” David’s thick voice fills my ears.
Everyone let out gasps, surprised. “That’s great. That’s wonderful. I never knew David would take on the responsibility of training someone like you, Vera.” Another says.
David lock his gaze on mine so briefly you’d doubt he even looked.
“I love your dress…how much did you get those?” One of the women asked.
“Oh…it’s…” I begin to speak but Claire interrupts me. Again.
“It’s definitely David here that got those for her.” She quips, her voice giving a hint of mockery.
My anger wells when she slings her arm around David’s and rests her head against his shoulder.
I hate this. I hate her.
Curling my fingers into a fist, I bite out. “I’m sorry but not it’s as you think.” I chuckle at the fall of the smile on her face.
Granted I used David’s black card for the shopping then, I was the one that picked up the dress myself.
“I see you’ve grown.” She comments dragging her eyes down my body and then up again. Clearly intimidated.
The women gives us silent treatment, only watching our exchange of words.
A while later, we separate ways as Sage and I stand by the corner, while I fume at Claire’s words. The woman obviously wants to diminish me in front of David.
I almost pull out that bitchy blonde hair of hers.
“I hate her.” I think aloud, getting Sage’s attention.
She shrugs, then. “I hate her too. Always sticking her nose in others’ affairs.” She says, nose flaring.
I fume wanting to get it all out of my system. I can’t let her ridicule me and reduce my standards or make me shy away from doing what I intended to do here.
“Hey!” I wave the passing waitress over and grab a glass of “Sex on the Beach” sipping it and from there I gulp it in one go, flushing away the anger.
I grab another glass, this time, sipping it gently.
“This tastes…good. Have you tried it before?” I ask Sage, pouting my lips as I examine the glass of wine sitting perfectly on my fingers.
“Yeah. Last week when Lynn and I went out.” Sage says proudly.
“Tell me you didn’t get her drunk.” I probe with a giggle. I know what Sage can do. She can trick someone into getting drunk, you wouldn’t even know she’s doing it deliberately.
Sage guffaw, knowing she’s guilty of that. She’s made Nick drunk just to win a bet against him.
“I didn’t, I promise. But I gave her a good fuck in the toilet stall.”
My eyes go owl-wide at her words.
“Fuck in the toilet stall? How many times have you guys tried it?”
“Three times. Trust me, that’s when I give the best scissor cuz I love it when others hear her moaning with so much joy into the air.”
I find myself grunting at her words. Sage’s a wanton lover. Wild at best but she does her shit without shame or guilt. It’s why I love her.
“That’s crazy, girl.” I blurt.
“Yap, it is.”
We both sip from our glasses, loving the smooth ride of the drink down our throats.
I peek over at David’s side from the rim of my glasses and see how taut his shoulders are as he discusses with Anita’s husband.
Even though one of his hands is in his pocket, he fists it.
I grin, loving the tension I created inside him.
An idea pops up in my mind and I wave Sage off and walk across the room.
David throws a look my way, and I see him holding his breath just seeing me coming over.
I hold onto my smile as the man turns around now, watching me, clearly lost on whatever Mr. Robinson was rattling off.
Yes, I love this. I grin in my mind’s eye. Moving closer.
I see his mouth form an ‘O’ as I get closer but…just like that, I shoulder past him and head over to where a man who looks to be in his mid-forties, is.
His thick gray suit embraces his big arms. Damn, the man looks hot. Almost the same size and shape as David.
Only, his long hair is gathered at the back of his head.
When he lifts his wine to his lips, his arms flex, showing evidence of a strong muscled body beneath the clothes he’s wearing.
“Oh…” I rattle, acting surprised as I knowingly bump into him. “I’m sorry, sir.”
I say abruptly, getting my handkerchief to dry the spurts of drink on his suit jacket.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t intend to bump into you. I swear, it was a big mistake.” I pout, putting on a guilty face as I dab my handkerchief on his dress shirt.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see David staring at us. Perfect, I think to myself.
“No, it’s okay…” The man says, holding my hands.
And then…I look up and lock gazes with him….
To be continued…
