Chris was taken aback when he saw Lindsay Windson at the party. He hadn’t expected Lindsay Windson to attend as well. Beside him, James was even more surprised: “I didn’t expect Lindsay Windson to be here either. I heard she got engaged to Eagle Noire, and it seems to be true.”
Hearing this, Chris’s face showed shock.
“What did you say? Lindsay Windson is engaged to Eagle Noire!”
James nodded, “Yes! That’s the rumor going around, but I don’t know if it’s true or not.”
Upon hearing this, Chris fell into deep thought. Lindsay Windson was an artist under his company. Moreover, she had a good relationship with Esther, and in a way, he considered her a friend too. But Chris could never have imagined Lindsay would get engaged to Eagle Noire. What was going on? And he, as her boss, had no idea about this.
With these thoughts, Chris looked up at Lindsay Windson. She was dressed in a white gown, looking sorrowful. Eagle Noire walked over, smiling and took Lindsay’s hand. Lindsay seemed very resistant to his touch.
Seeing this, Chris felt a stirring in his heart. Lindsay Windson didn’t appear to like Eagle Noire at all. But why would she agree to an engagement with him? There must be some hidden reason!
After a moment, Chris lost interest and left with James. He had originally come to the party to see the so-called ‘Middleton Four Young Masters.’ Having seen what he came for, there was no point in staying. However, the news of Lindsay’s engagement to Eagle Noire was certainly unexpected.
After Chris left, inside a luxurious presidential suite at the hotel, a young man spoke angrily, “Hollow Frost, your brother’s legs were crippled, and you’re just going to let that go? Chris bullied my brother, and I cannot let this stand!”
The speaker was Hanh Sterling, the eldest son of the Sterling family, one of the ten prestigious noble families, and also one of the ‘Middleton Four Young Masters.’ He was Spencer Sterling’s older brother. Upon returning to Middleton and learning that his brother had been wronged by Chris, Hanh was furious. Of all the Middleton Four, Hanh had the most volatile temper.
He swore to teach Chris a lesson. Hollow Frost, with a grim expression, said, “Chris, I’ll kill him sooner or later! But we can’t move against him yet, we need to prepare first.”
Hanh Sterling angrily retorted, “I don’t get what you’re afraid of! If you’re too scared to deal with Chris, then I’ll do it myself!”
“Shut up!”
Hollow Frost shouted back, his expression turning ugly.
“Hanh Sterling, do you think you can just kill Chris? Chris is an Amerosia Primus. Even if you killed him, what then? Do you want the entire Sterling family to go down with you?”
Stunned, Hanh Sterling froze. He was rash, but not foolish.
Hollow Frost continued fiercely, “Do you think I don’t want to kill Chris? My brother’s legs are ruined, he’s still in the hospital, and the doctors say he’ll never recover. Chris didn’t just cripple my brother; he made my entire Frost family a joke in Middleton. Do you think I’m not furious?”
Taking a deep breath, Hanh Sterling asked, “What should we do, then?”
Grinding his teeth, Hollow Frost replied, “In time, I will personally make a trip to the Obsidian Citadel!”
“Obsidian Citadel?”
Hanh Sterling’s face was a picture of shock. What was Obsidian Citadel? They knew it all too well! Obsidian Citadel was a prison for the most dangerous criminals in all of Amerosia. Shura had been detained there before being released by Daniel Williams, his fate now unknown.
“Hollow Frost, have you lost your mind? Do you really want to release that demon? If the authorities find out, they won’t spare you!”
Hanh Sterling quickly realized what Hollow Frost intended to do. His face was stricken with horror as he tried to stop Hollow Frost.
“What does it matter if they know? Who else but that demon could kill Chris?”
Hollow Frost said disdainfully. Hanh Sterling was left speechless. Chris, as the Amerosia Primus, was incredibly powerful. There were very few in the world who could kill Chris, and that demon was definitely one of them.
However, releasing that demon would surely bring disaster to Amerosia. It had taken the ten strongest members of the Dragon Order to capture him originally.
Hanh Sterling wanted to dissuade Hollow Frost, but Hollow Frost was determined and would not be swayed. He sighed deeply, uncertain if his actions were right or wrong. But it seemed the only way for revenge…
During this time, Chris was bored. Panda Networks was now well managed by Candace, and there was little for him to do at the company. Chris found himself missing the days back on the East Coast, where at least he had his wife and daughter.
Recently, Esther had called a few times to inquire about the company. From the calls, Chris could tell Esther wanted him back. After some thought, he decided to return to the East Coast sooner rather than later, and informed Candace of his decision.
Upon learning of his departure, Candace turned away silently and left. At closing time, as Chris exited the company, a Hummer blocked his path. Jack Butler descended from the vehicle, his brow furrowed upon seeing him. Jack Butler, a young three-star warrior of Amerosia and the young master of the prestigious Butler family, approached Chris with a cold expression.
“Chris, why did you hurt Candace?”
Jack asked sharply.
Chris was completely baffled.
“What are you talking about? How did I hurt Candace?”
“You dare deny it?”
Jack was visibly angry.
“I just saw Candace, crying her eyes out. You’re already married with a family, why did you lead her on?”
Hearing this, Chris frowned. Perhaps Candace was heartbroken over the news of his imminent departure. Chris had always known that Candace had deep feelings for him, but he was married; how could he possibly make her happy?
“This is between Candace and me; it’s none of your business!”
Chris said firmly, then turned and walked away. Although he felt guilty towards Candace, it was a matter between the two of them. What right did Jack Butler have to interfere?
