Tomas.
While I was dozing off on the couch, I suddenly heard Amanda approaching. She was moving so slowly and quietly that I didn’t immediately open my eyes. Instead, I feigned sleep, but I managed to catch a glimpse of her as she came closer. Standing there, she gazed at me with a soft, tender expression that made my heart skip a beat. Then, she moved alongside me, her delicate fingers brushing gently against my cheeks. The sensation sent a thrilling shiver down my spine, and just as I was trying to process this intimate touch, she leaned in and placed a sweet, warm kiss on my cheeks. I was utterly stunned, yet I kept my eyes closed, wanting to savor that precious moment for just a little longer.
Hardly a few minutes went by before Amanda began to wake me up gently. “Mr. Tomas, please wake up. You have been dozing for quite a considerable length of time,” Amanda said to me in a voice that was both sweet and firm. I slowly opened my eyes and stretched my arms, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep that clung to me. “Oh, really?! I didn’t notice that. Thank you, Amanda,” I replied, feeling a mix of gratitude and confusion swirling within me.
She nodded kindly, a warm smile gracing her lips as she expressed her appreciation. “Would I be able to use your pool?!” Amanda asked me, her eyes sparkling with excitement. This unexpected request caught me off guard, and I widened my eyes at her in surprise. “Yes, of course! Feel free, Amanda,” I said with a laugh, feeling a rush of warmth at her enthusiasm.
“Thank you, Mr. Tomas,” she said, genuinely grateful, and then she walked off to the washroom to change into her swimsuit. Meanwhile, I decided to head downstairs to check on Carl and my men, wanting to ensure everything was in order and running smoothly.
A few minutes later, I made my way to the pool, eager to watch Amanda as she enjoyed herself in the water. But I was stunned when I saw her; she had a tattoo on her back-the letter “T.” This surprising sight sparked a flurry of questions in my mind. Why the letter “T”? Was this even a tattoo? I continued to ponder these questions silently as I watched her. I couldn’t help but remember what she had done just a few moments ago when she was staring at me while I was resting. Why did she kiss me so gently? So many questions raced through my mind, and I had no answers.
Additionally, that tattoo reminded me of a girl I had been intimate with when I was drunk. I had discovered, much to my shock, that she was a cop, and she also had a tattoo of the letter “T.” I was left feeling confused and uneasy. This cop girl had even left me a little note written with her lipstick on the mirror, telling me, “Sometime you will see me.” This thought lingered in my mind, making me feel even more perplexed about where my life was heading.
At that moment, Carl requested that I head to my office to review some footage from the hidden cameras I had set up. Yes, indeed, I had placed cameras and microphones all over the place where Jennifer and her ex were staying in the cellar. I was recording everything to uncover the truth about what was really happening.
….
Jack POV.
After I left my home, I decided that I needed to go to Maya and figure out a way to help Jennifer escape this trap. I felt a deep urge to meet Jennifer and confess my feelings to her. At the very least, I needed to tell her the truth about how much I loved her and why I had left her with a broken heart. After my admission, the ball would be in her court; she would be the only one who could decide whether to stay with Tomas or return to me.
So, I drove my car to Maya’s house in a rush, feeling a mix of determination and anxiety bubbling inside me. I rang the doorbell, but when the servant opened the door for me, I was shocked to see Mark slapping Maya’s face. I froze in place, my mind racing. How could a man treat a woman like this? It was something so shocking, so utterly outrageous, that I couldn’t fathom what was happening in front of my eyes.
They both noticed me standing there, and Mark turned his head to look at me, his expression a mix of surprise and annoyance. “Um, you’re here, Jack. Come over here and join us, if you please,” Mark said to me with a forced smile that didn’t reach his eyes. I made a sound of disbelief, looking into his eyes and then glancing at Maya, whose face was flushed red like a ripe tomato. It was unmistakable-he had slapped her hard, and the sight made my blood boil.
“I thought I came at the wrong time,” I said to Mark, my voice laced with concern and anger. “What the hell is going on here?”
“No, it’s the perfect time, Jack. Please come in. I’m out of this now. Set up your plans together. Sorry, I can’t help you any longer; it’s enough for me. I know how much you love Jennifer, but I can’t be of any assistance,” Mark said, turning away and leaving me in shock.
“Hey, wait! Stop!” I yelled at Mark, desperate for answers. I needed to understand what was happening.
He turned his body, narrowing his eyes at me. “What do you want, Jack?!” Mark asked, irritation evident in his tone.
“Why aren’t you going to help us?! You used to be Tomas’ friend, and I think you know how he thinks. You know so much about him; you are our only hope,” I implored Mark, my desperation evident as I tried to make him see reason.
Mark stepped closer to me, folding his arms across his chest and gazing at me with curiosity and skepticism. “Listen to me, Jack. As you said, I used to be Tomas’ closest friend, and I know how he thinks. From my experience, nobody would ever dare to take something from him. So I’m out of this,” Mark said firmly, his voice leaving no room for negotiation.
“Then you are scared?” I asked, my voice rising slightly as frustration boiled within me.
“Scared?! Not in the way you think! Everyone should be scared of Tomas! He is the mafia king! But that’s not the only reason, Jack; the real reason is that I love Maya. Yes, I’m in love with Maya, so how could I possibly help her get Tomas back?! This is ridiculous!” Mark informed me, frustration clear in his voice.
“Love Maya?! This is strange! I thought you two were fighting! I mean, come on, I saw you slap her!” I exclaimed, my eyes wide with disbelief, waiting for an explanation.
“You don’t need an explanation, Jack. You need to gather your courage and go confront Tomas. You need to confess your feelings to Jennifer. That’s what you truly require, so I suggest you don’t waste any more time and move now,” Mark advised me, his tone turning serious.
I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. “I think you’re right,” I said to Mark. Then I turned to look at Maya, who seemed frozen in place, staring at Mark with a mixture of confusion and hurt.
I turned my body and started to walk out, but then Maya spoke up, stopping me in my tracks. “Wait, Jack, I’m coming with you,” she said, her voice filled with resolve.
“What?!” Mark yelled at Maya, surprise evident in his tone.
“I’m saying that I’m going with Jack! I will never lose this game! I will never lose my dream after everything I’ve been through. Besides, if Jack convinces Jennifer to return to him, then Tomas will be left lonely, and that will be my only chance to take action,” Maya declared boldly, her determination unwavering.
“Let’s go, Jack,” Maya said to me, and together we walked through the doorway of her home. I took my car, and she sat alongside me. However, as I was driving, I noticed Mark following us, but I didn’t mention it to Maya. All I could think about was getting to the bank before heading to Tomas’ house.
So I stopped by the bank, and Maya looked at me curiously. “What are you doing, Jack?” she asked, raising her eyebrows.
“I’m sorry, Maya, I won’t be long, but I need to do something first before heading to Tomas’ house. Please wait for me here,” I told her, trying to reassure her and calm her nerves.
Then I jumped out of my car and raced to the bank, ready to deposit 10 million dollars-the entirety of my savings. After what felt like an eternity, I exited the bank with bags of cash in hand. I tossed the bags onto the backseat of my car and drove off quickly.
“What are you doing, Jack?!” Maya asked me, her eyebrows raised in disbelief and concern.
“I did what I needed to do, Maya! I will do whatever it takes to get Jennifer back! Even if it means risking my life,” I said, gripping the steering wheel tightly as I accelerated down the road.
“Are you insane?! Slow down, Jack! You could kill us both! We won’t reach Tomas’ house like this!” Maya shouted at me, panic creeping into her voice as she gripped the armrest.
But I ignored her words and continued to speed. My mind was consumed with thoughts of Jennifer. I knew that I was to blame for everything that had happened. If I hadn’t hurt her, she wouldn’t have left me, wouldn’t have met that drug dealer, and she certainly wouldn’t have ended up with Tomas. I kept thinking about it, my heart heavy with regret and guilt.
“What’s your goal, Jack?!” Maya asked again, her voice cutting through my thoughts like a knife.
“What do you mean, Maya?!” I replied, narrowing my eyes at her, trying to stay focused on the road ahead.
“I mean, why do you care so much about Jennifer?! She’s not famous or wealthy! What’s so special about her?!” Maya pressed, her frustration boiling over as she struggled to understand my motives.
I slammed on the brakes, staring at her, and I put my hand around her neck, my voice low and dangerous. “Don’t you ever speak about Jennifer like that again, or I swear I will make you regret it. Now I understand why Tomas loves Jennifer and despises you. And now I see why Mark slapped you! You are such a toxic person!” I shouted at Maya, my anger spilling over.
She pushed my hand away, unfazed. “Say whatever you want, but I will never lose against Jennifer or any other woman. I will take what’s mine; I will reclaim Tomas for myself,” Maya shot back, her eyes fierce and unwavering.
I drove quickly until I reached Tomas’ house. I grabbed the bags from my car and rushed inside. His men were caught off guard; I guessed he was somehow expecting me, but I was too focused to care.
Maya followed closely behind, and I stormed through the door, yelling at Tomas. “Tomas! We need to talk!”
“Oh, you’re here, Jack…! To be honest, I’m not surprised!” Tomas said, a smirk on his face as he regarded me with a mixture of amusement and curiosity.
I threw the bags onto the floor near Tomas’ feet. He looked down at them, then back at me, a puzzled expression crossing his face. “What is this, Jack?!” Tomas asked, narrowing his eyes suspiciously, trying to gauge my intentions.
“This is all I have. Open it and see for yourself. This is 10 million dollars. I’m asking you to let Jennifer go. I love her so much,” I pleaded, desperation creeping into my voice as I laid my heart on the line.
“Oh, you want to buy Jennifer?! But I don’t need your money! What on earth do you think you’re doing, Jack?!” Tomas yelled at me, clearly irritated by my presumptive offer.
“I’m protecting her from you!” I shot back defiantly, standing my ground.
Tomas walked closer, leaning in as if sharing a secret. “But I don’t want Jennifer, Jack! I’m done with her!” he said, a hint of amusement in his tone that sent chills down my spine.
I leaned back, my anxiety growing with each passing second. “What do you mean, Tomas?! Where’s Jennifer?!” I yelled, my heart racing in my chest at the prospect of something terrible happening to her.
He laughed, a cold sound that echoed through the room. “I must admit, it’s the first time I’ve met a guy who loves a woman this much,” Tomas chuckled, but his jovial demeanor did nothing to ease my fears.
“I’m not gay, Tomas! Where’s Jennifer?!” I shouted, frustration boiling over as I gripped the edge of the table, trying to keep my composure.
“I know you’re not gay! But I’ve locked her up with her ex down in the cellar! Until I figure out what to do with both of them!” Tomas revealed, his expression darkening as the weight of his words hit me.
“What?!” I yelled in disbelief, my heart sinking into my stomach.
“Jennifer?! Jennifer?!” I shouted her name, panic rising in my chest as I felt the walls closing in around me.
“Calm down, Jack! Or I’ll kill you both!” Tomas threatened, his gaze piercing into mine as he stepped closer, the tension in the room escalating.
“I’m not afraid of you, Tomas! Don’t threaten me!” I shouted back defiantly, my heart pounding as I prepared for whatever would come next.
