Reed’s POV.
I’m praying as I step on my porch.
Why am I praying?
To go in there and meet Halle with all her stuff. I pray she has already moved in. I’d be the happiest man on earth.
I give a gentle knock on the door and in less than no time, it’s opened by my butler, Patrick.
“Good evening, Omega Reed.” He greets me with a light bow and a smile.
“Good evening…” I step into the house and hand over my coat and bag to him. A delicious aroma hits my nostrils and I give him a confused look. “What’s going on?”
“It’s Miss Halle, Sir. She insisted on cooking dinner for you.” I smile like an idiot.
“I see. You can retire to your quarters once you keep these things in my bedroom.”
“Thank you sir.” I simply nod and my excited legs carry me to the kitchen where I see Halle stirring a cooking pot on the cooker. My only disappointment is that she doesn’t have on my t-shirt with no panties underneath.
The view is still excellent though.
She’s wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top and her hair is again in a messy ponytail. I am turned at the sight of everything that has to do with her, including her hair.
Sigh,
This girl will be the end of me.
“Are you coming in or not?” She asks out of nowhere and I almost look behind to see if she’s talking to someone else.
Shit!
She caught me.
“Do you have eyes at the back of your head?” I ask, walking over to her. She turns off the cooker and turns to me. Without warning, I wrap my arms around her waist and lift her up.
“What are you doing?” She asks almost dying in fits of laughter as I place her on the kitchen island and stand between her legs. “What are you doing?” She asks, wary. “Patrick might come in and see us?”
“Patrick already left.” I bury my face in her neck, nibbling and trailing kisses over it. She almost goes breathless with laughter as I nibble my face all over her neck.
She’s very sensitive.
“Stop…please stop. I can’t take it anymore.” She cries and I listen to her pleas. I stop what I’m doing and look into her glittering eyes. The sound of her laughter is like music in my ears. I can listen to it all day long without feeling bored.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” She pouts. “I’ve been waiting for you to come back for a while now.”
“I had a meeting with the other officials.”
“I see. How was your day?”
“It was terrible because I had to talk to two very annoying people.”
“Everyone annoys you.”
“That is not true!” I argue.
“It is!”
“I refuse to have this argument with you!”
Yes! Because she will win. She is right. There’s hardly anyone who doesn’t annoy me.
“I don’t want to argue with you either. I want you to kiss me.”
“Your wish is my command, Ma’am.” I join our lips together and give her a mind-blowing kiss. Lust gnaws my dick as I gently caress her back. She has to stop me else I’ll turn her around and take her right here. It seems she reads my mind because she breaks the kiss and points to the pot cooking on the cooker.
“Food first!”
“I want this other food first.”
“Not going to happen” She gently pushes me out of legs and steps down from the island. “Enough smooching.”
“Yes, ma’am!”
“She opens one of the button kitchen shelves and starts taking out plates and spoons. I take her place on the island.
“Did you think about what we discussed this morning?” She pauses and looks at me.
“Oh… about that. Yes, I did think a lot about it.”
“And…” my heart starts racing. She drops the plates on the table and focuses her gaze on me.
She’s not smiling. She’s not frowning. The look on her face is just blank. I don’t know what she’s thinking or what she has decided.
I’m scared.
Please God.
“Reed… I love you. That’s no doubt, but I can’t move in with you.”
“Why not?”
“You know why.” She sinks her teeth into her bottom lip. I don’t even have to think before the reason pops in my mind.
The mate saga!
“But we…”
“I’m going to die if I move into this house and then have to move out when you find your mate.”
“There’s no mate. I’ll reject her. You’re the one I have chosen to be with and if you choose to be with me, we’ll have no problem.”
“What then is going to happen to our mates?”
“They’ll be blessed with new mates. They’ll be given second chance mates.”
“You’re not sure of that.”
“Halle, let’s not overthink…”
“We have to. We should. What we’re doing is… it’s…”
“Wrong?” I finish the statement. She nods. “You no longer want to be with me? Is that it?”
“I didn’t say that?” I jump down from the island.
I don’t want to keep talking about this with her. It’s putting me in a bad mood and I might raise my voice at her.
I never want to raise my voice at her.
“I’m going out for a drive. See you later.”
“Reed!” I ignored her call. I can hear her sobbing as I leave the house. It’s breaking my bones. It’s shattering my heart to pieces, that’s why I need to go out and clear my head. I head to the black Aston Martin I just came home with a while ago and get into the car. Once starred in, I place my head on the steering wheel and scream my lungs out.
Why is it so complicated?
I understand that the moon goddess knows best, but she should consider just this once. Halle is the perfect woman for me. I want to be with her and her alone!
I ignite the car engine, it roars to life and I drive out of my premises at top speed.
I can’t stop thinking about Halle. Everything about her intrigues me. From the first day I saw her, I knew there was something special about her. I was curious about her. I wanted to know more about her and now that I do, I’m addicted. I can’t get enough of her.
For Pete’s sake I took her virginity.
I want to be the only man she gets intimate with.
I can’t let another man take her from me. There has to be a way out. This cannot be the end. There should be a cheat code.
Halle is…
A loud hunk jabs me out of thoughts and as I turn to look, my pupils dilate in shock and scream as a speeding truck collides with my car from the passenger seat side. My car goes stumbling in the air and the only thing that keeps me in place is my seat belt and the air back which has blown out and prevented me from hitting my head against the steering wheel.
The world is spinning. Tiny bits of glass are flying all around me and I feel like I’m entering the Earth’s crust when the car finally hits the ground, up-side-down. Parts fly to different directions. My body feels like I’ve been run over by the truck that hit me.
My eyelids are as heavy as lead. With all my might, I open them. My car is totaled. My seatbelt still has me trapped in the car seat. I have no energy left in me, but the smell of gas I perceived coming from the engine makes me understand I’m in danger. This car will blow up with me if I don’t get out.
I try to locate my seat belt and after several painful attempts, I finally unbuckle it and fall on the ground. Groaning, I start crawling out through the broken mirror, ignoring the cuts the broken glasses are inflicting on my body.
My entire body freezes and I stop crawling when I hear footsteps approaching. A pair of black sneakers came into sight. I try to look up, but I’m too injured to do that.
“You just won’t die, will you?” An unfamiliar voice asks and the next thing I feel is his fingers on my hair, grabbing it tight.
On the other hand is a dagger.
I should fight.
I really should.
But how can I when all my bones are broken and I can hardly breathe?
All I can do is pray.
This can’t be the end. My brother needs me.
“Let’s see how you survive this one.” I shiver when the cold metal of the blade touches my neck and with one swipe, my throat splits open.
Blood oozes from my mouth and from the spot.
It takes seconds for everything to go black!
