CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE.
Lloyd’S POV.
This is the height of it! This is where I say I can’t take it anymore.
The humiliation.
The disrespect.
The dominance.
It has to end and that can only be done by killing Reed once and for all. Since he left my office after issuing that very serious warning, I haven’t been able to do anywork because I keep thinking.
I keep thinking of the possible ways by which I can eliminate him once and all and very soon. I can’t have him walking around with everything that he knows. The only reason why he hasn’t mentioned a word about this to Alpha Jayce is because he doesn’t have concrete evidence to back his claim of me wanting to betray the Alpha, but knowing the kind of person Reed is, it’ll take him less than no time to come up with something. That’s why we have to stop him by killing him right now because if news about what I’m doing reaches Alpha Jayce, I’ll be dead meat!
“Alpha Jovan.” I call as I hastily make my way into his livingroom through the back door.
I made a mistake today by leaving through his front door and that’s why Reed was able to see me.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!
“Lloyd. You are here.” Jovan responds with a strained voice. I head over to where he’s seated and one glance at his face is enough to make me understand that Reed paid him a visit too.
“Reed came here?”
“How did you know?”
“Your neck…”
“Oh… this.” He sits upright on the couch and carefully touches his neck that has traces of Reed’s finger prints on them. “He literally lifted me in the air with a single hand and almost choked me to death. Do you know what baffles me the most?” I shake my head. “It’s the fact that an ordinary Omega cannot do a thing like that. Reed is way too strong!”
“I thought we already established that Reed is no ordinary Omega. No one knows why he’s as strong as he is.”
“And no one has ever bothered to find out why?”
“Nope…Anyway, that’s not what’s important. There’s no need trying to find out why he’s so strong when we can find out how to kill him.”
“Yes. Kill him.” He clears his throat and exhales heavily. “We seriously have to kill that guy and it has to be right now if we want to stand a chance to win this war.” I perch myself on the couch and he looks at me. “Do you have anything in mind?” He asks calmly.
I turn to look at him and almost smile when something crosses my mind.
“I just remembered something.”
“What’s that?”
“One of these days, Reed will be going into the woods to inspect the pack borders. He will only have to take along a few guards with him. If we can organize another ambush like we did on Alpha Jayce, it’ll be easier to kill him. Now the problem will be fore the Rogue King to release his soldiers again after what happened.”
“Why will there be an issue for him to give us soldiers?”
“Because over five hundred of his soldiers were killed last time.”
“And I gave him a lot of money for compensation.” He says, smiling. “Money he could only dream of having. He will be more than willing to give us more soldiers!” My heart dances at the sound of that.
More soldiers means a greater chance of killing that pompous, self-satisfied strut called Reed.
Yes he’s strong, but he’s not as strong as Alpha Jayce and he will not be able to hold off over five hundred soldiers before help arrives for him.
He will be shredded into pieces by the rogue soldiers.
“Then that’s amazing. Talk with him while I try to find out the exact day of his border inspection because we cannot attempt to fail this time around. Reed has to die for us to be able to ride on with our plans.”
“He has to.” He confirms my words, but there’s a lost look in his eyes. He seems to be thinking about something else.
“You look worried, Jovan. Tell me what’s going on with you.”
“Reed.” He groans in frustration. “Reed is what’s going on with me. Look…” He rises to his feet. “I understand that there’s no explanation as to why Reed is this mysterious, but that doesn’t mean it is not a call for concern. Three times Lloyd…” He shows three fingers at my face. “I have been trashed by Reed three good times! First, when I tried to harm Jayce on the eve of Alora’s coronation. He showed up from nowhere and defended Alpha Jayce. He had me properly beaten. Second, when I tried to attack him at his place but got distracted when I saw that call coming out of his house, he still got me well beaten and this morning when he came to talk to me. I have felt the strength of his grip, his punch, his kick, his throw. It’s the same as Jayce’s. Reed has the strength of an Alpha!”
“But how… how’s that… that’s not possible!” I flatly deny it. I stand up as well and start walking around.
It doesn’t make any sense!
Reed and Alpha Jayce are in no way related!
“That’s what I do not know.”
“Jovan.” I palm his shoulder and give it a gentle squeeze. “Strong as an Alpha or not, we have to kill him. Yes, there has to be a reason why he’s that strong, but that’s not our story to tell so we are going to ignore it and do what we intend to do to him. Don’t overthink Reed’s abilities. Focus on this plan we have at hand, huh?” He nods his head.
“Yeah. I should do that. I will do that.”
“Good. I have to go now, but I’ll let you know when I have a confirmed day.”
“Meanwhile I’ll speak to the rogue King again.”
“Good. See you later.” I head to the back door, but just like Jovan, I can’t stop thinking of the possible reasons why Reed is so strong.
Could there be some Royal secret no one knows about?
