CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TEN.
Reed’S POV.
Blink.
No sign of Halle.
Blink again.
Still no sign of Halle.
I quickly sit upright from the bed and scan the bedroom with a raging heart. It only calms down when I see Halle’s clothes which she wore last night when she came over. That means she’s still around.
I try to listen carefully if I hear her making sounds in the bathroom or closet, but everywhere is calm. There’s no sign of another human in this bedroom other than myself. I use my wolf ability to listen from a far range and that’s when I hear utensils clattering in my kitchen downstairs.
There are no servants around. That means the person responsible for those noises is no other than Halle.
Is she cooking?
No way!
I smile and shake my head.
She beat me to it today.
After freshening up, I head downstairs to meet my very pretty girlfriend. I arrive at the kitchen door and lean by it. I want to take a few minutes to just admire her and thanks to the music she’s blasting on the nearby Bluetooth speaker, she can’t notice my presence and I can stare at her for as long as I want.
She’s putting on one of my white shirts which is oversized on her body and ends mid-thigh. I can bet she had no underwear underneath. She’s chopping what I suppose to be onions on a chopping board stationed on the kitchen island and moving her body – booty- in rythme to the music. Her thick black hair is tied up in a messy ponytail. I have to force myself to look away from her thighs.
Halle, in my kitchen, making breakfast.
This moment – what I’m witnessing – is so wholesome to me. I love it.
I can already imagine carrying out this same activity in this same kitchen with our toddlers running around the kitchen, causing chaos.
I’m going to marry her.
That is a must.
“Someone is feeling vibrant this morning.” I finally talk as I approach her. She shakes in fear upon hearing my voice and bursts into laughter when she turns around and sees me.
“You scared me!” She cries as she turns down the volume of the Bluetooth speaker.
“That was the aim.” I step behind her and wrap my arms around her waist, inhaling her delicious smell and planting kisses all over neck.
She starts giggling and trying to wiggle herself out of my hold.
She’s very ticklish. The least touch makes her jumpy.
“Good morning baby.”
“Good morning.”
“I can see you beat me to this today.” She chuckles and I let her go so she can get back to chopping her onions. I take a seat on the kitchen island, by her side.
“I wanted to be the one to make us breakfast today since you’ve been doing it.”
“So, what are you making?”
“It’s a surprise.” She puts the chopped onions in a bowl and heads to the cooker. I look at the ingredients she has prepared and I still can’t figure out what she wants to make, so I give up.
“If you say so. And why does my shirt look better on you than on me?”
“No it doesn’t!” She chuckles. I like it when she chuckles. “It’s oversized and…”
“And ends mid-thigh.” I cut her off’ “it’s sexy. And I can bet you aren’t wearing underwear beneath. Are you?” She shakes her head, licking her lips. “Your plan is to make me lose my mind this morning, isn’t it?”
“Go away, Reed.” She giggles shyly and turns and focuses to her cooking pot.
“You have no idea how I feel right now, Halle.” I know I’m distracting her, but that meal she’s cooking is the least important thing right now. As if she read my mind, she turns off the cooker and walks over to me. I close my eyes and implore my mind to think nothing carnal when she steps between my legs and wraps her arms around my torso, looking up at me.
Every part of her body is at my disposal right now.
“Tell me about it. Tell me how you feel.”
“I feel complete.” Her gaze narrows. She doubts my words. “I’m not lying. Being with you, waking up with you, seeing you cook in my kitchen makes me feel complete. I swear.” She doesn’t say anything. She just smiles and places her head on my chest. My fingers find their way into her silky hair and I gently stroke it as I plant soft kisses on her hair.
“I feel complete too.” She looks up at me. Tears almost break loose from my eyes. My heart swells with emotions when she flashes me her million dollar smile. “How I feel about what we have is indescribable. I can’t put it in words, but just know that I’m happy.”
“How about I give you a key?”
“A key?” She seems confused.
“Yeah. A key to this house. You can come in and leave as you please.”
“You want me to move in with you?” She asks, shocked. “Don’t you think that’s moving too fast?”
“Well…” I nervously scratch the back of my head. “You can leave all your stuff here and not spend nights in your apartment.” She tilts her head to the side and gives me the “Are-you-fucking-kidding-me?” look.
“That’s the same thing as moving in.”
“Is it?” I feign innocence. She groans in frustration.
“Don’t be like this.”
“Sorry.” I exhale sharply. “Yes. I would love for you to move in with me. I want you here all the time Halle. I want to wake up with you in my bed and I want to fall asleep with you in my bed. I want to go to work knowing that I will come back home and meet you. I want to call this place my home, not my house. I want you. I. Need. You.” The tone of my voice drops progressively till the end of that statement.
She’s looking at me with searching eyes. She has so many things to say but she doesn’t know where to start from. She cannot believe what she’s hearing.
“I… this…” she stutters and nervously scratches your head. “Moving in with you is such a big deal. I… need some time to think about it.” I take her hands and kiss them.
“Take all the time you need. I’ll be waiting for your response.” My watch starts blasting a loud sound that makes Halle skip away from me out of fear. “I have to get ready for work.” I announce and jump down from the island.
“I already prepared your outfit. You’ll find it on the red couch in the closet.”
“You did?”
“Uh-uh.”
“Thank you very much baby.” I capture her lips in a brief, passionate kiss. “Thank you.”
“You are welcome. Go get dressed while I round up with this.”
“I’ll do just that.” I kiss her once more and head to the door, but halfway, I turn back to look at her.
“Halle.”
“Yeah…”
“Second drawer on the nightstand. That’s where you’ll find your key.”
“But I haven’t accepted to move in with you yet.”
“I know. Just that I’ll be home late today and I want you here by the time I return. Please be here.” Then I turn around and leave.
I’m going to marry that girl!
