CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIX

Book:THE SUPREME ALPHA'S HATED LUNA Published:2024-11-20

Reed’S POV.
Today’s one of those days I gave my entire staff the day off because Halle had spent the night at my place. I’m carrying a tray of food upstairs to my bedroom to meet her so we can both eat breakfast together.
On a normal day, I won’t even make breakfast for myself, but whenever she comes over, I get this strange motivation to show my very feeble cooking skills to her and she’s always very kind enough to pretend it’s delicious.
I like Halle.
I love her.
I want to be with her.
The fact that she isn’t my mate haunts me everyday! I wish I could snap my fingers and things would go in my favour.
“No you didn’t!” She cries the moment I walk into the bedroom. She’s smiling shyly as she heads to the bed where I join her. I place the food on the nightstand and lean forward to kiss her.
She smells fresh and clean.
Like me.
She used my cologne and I love it.
“Good morning baby.” I greet her with a husky voice. She giggles shyly and sways her head to the side.
I love when she does that.
“Good morning.”
“You look beautiful this morning. You make me want to take you right now.”
“Go away!” Now she’s laughing and throwing pillows at me. My eyes are glued to her prominent dimples that make her look even more charming.
“Here’s breakfast for you, Ma Lady.” She smiles and cranes her neck towards the nightstand where I placed the tray to see what I made.
It’s nothing much.
“How did you know I was starving?”
“I know what we did last night.” I flash her a cocky smirk. She playfully pushes me away.
“You are becoming very naughty Reed. Very very naughty.”
“I know. Do you like it?” She shrugs and smiles shyly.
“I do. It’s hot.”
Jesus!
My dick is getting hard right now.
“Of course it is.” I smile proudly. My charm is working.
“Reed.” Her soft voice calls my name.
“Yes baby.”
“Um… there’s something I wanna ask but I’m scared because you might get offended. It’s quite personal.” I plant a gentle kiss on her forehead and flash her a small smile.
“Ask me anything you wish to know.’ I tell her in my calmest voice.
I’ve been waiting for this moment.
The moment where she’ll start asking me personal questions. It’s a sign that she’s getting more comfortable with me.
“It’s about your family. You never talk about them. I’ve never seen anyone here who might be a sister or brother. Why’s that? Where’s your family? You do have one, right?” She looks very curious, yet scared.
Probably scared that she’s prying into my personal affairs. If only she knows I really don’t mind her asking.
My family is not something I like to discuss. I’ve never discussed it with anyone because it’s quite complicated.
“Yes, I do have a family. In fact, I have two families.”
“Two families? How’s that even possible?”
“I’ve got the parents that birthed me and the one who took care of me.”
“Oh…”
“Yeah. I’m not going to talk about the parents who birthed me because the circumstances surrounding my birth are too complicated and it’s kind of a secret, but for the family who raised me, there’s nothing much to say about them. My mum died a few years ago, my uncle who was the father figure in my life is of late as well. He used to be the Omega of the pack and since he had no children, I, his nephew, had to take up the role so the title stays in the family. Those were pretty much the only people who made up my adoptive family. They are both dead, so now I’m alone.”
“So, you don’t have any siblings? I mean on both sides?”
“I’ve got one. A brother. He’s a pain in the ass, but I love him to bits. I will die for him to live if I have to.”
“Wow! That’s…that’s intense. You two seem close.”
“We are.” I’m smiling as I think of Alpha Jayce and how close we have become in the past months.
“Are you going to introduce him to me someday?” She asks unsure and her eyes widen with surprise when I nod my head in agreement.
“Yes. Very soon. A few things need to be settled and once that happens, I’ll introduce you to my brother. He’s pretty much the only family I have left right now.”
“Are you trying to say your birth parents are dead as well.”
“Yes, they are.”
“I’m so sorry about that.”
“It’s nothing, baby. That was a long time ago.”
“Everything about you is mysterious.” She says in awe. “Even your family background seems to be a mystery.”
“Mystery is sexy!” I brag.
“No it’s not.” She contradicts. “It’s scary.”
“Does that mean you are scared of me?”
“I used to be, but not anymore. There’s nothing to be scared off. You give off this tough, scary demeanour, but you are a total softy on the inside. I feel safe with you.” My heart melts like butter in a hot frying pan.
This girl!
“I’m happy to hear that you feel safe with me, Halle. I’m very happy to hear that.” She blushes a beetroot as she keeps eating her food.
“What about you? What’s your story?” She clears her throat and shakes her head.
“There’s no interesting story. I come from a struggling family of five. Mum, dad and three siblings. I’m the youngest. My older brothers found their mates and forgot all about me and our parents even though they are doing quite well for themselves. My parents live in the pack residential area in our little house and I’m here, trying to fend for myself. That’s all.”
“Nope. It isn’t. Tell me all there is to know.” She clears her throat and drinks a glass of water before setting the tray aside.
“I’ve always wanted to be a pack doctor. I still want to be, but tuition is not a joke for that particular field in all institutions and I’m not smart enough to secure a scholarship, so, in the meantime, I’m trying to work as a trainer to save up money to pay for tuition, but if I don’t succeed, I’ll just keep being a personal trainer because it seems I’m really good at it.”
“You sure are. You are a pretty good personal trainer. You have great fighting skills and for that, I’m proud. Having a career as a personal trainer is still amazing, however, you have to accomplish that dream of becoming a pack doctor. When you’re done training with Luna Alora, we are going to get you enrolled in the pack’s best med school.”
“We? Who’s we?”
“Me and you. I’ll pay for everything.”
“I can’t let you do that.”
“You can. You will.”
“No!” She takes off the duvet from her body and shifts closer to me. “Reed Med School is expensive. It costs thousands of dollars every academic year and that continues for 6 years at least.”
“I’m well aware of that. I took a pre med course in college. I would’ve been a medical doctor by now if I didn’t become the Omega of this pack. So yeah, I know how expensive school is, but I can afford it. Not to brag, but I’m a lot richer than you think I am.”
“It’s not about how rich you are… I mean, it is but… but… why? I’m just your girlfriend and this relationship we have won’t last. I can’t let you do so much for me.” I squint at her.
What did She just say?
“What do you mean our relationship won’t last?”
“You’re gonna find your mate and I’ll find mine and we’ll have to go our separate ways.”
“If I find my mate right now, I’m going to reject her. I will choose you over her.”
“No you won’t!”
“Try me.” She steps down from the bed and rises to her feet, breathing hard.
“Reed…” she calls. One hand resting on her waist and the other massaging her forehead.
She’s stressed.
This conversation is stressing her out.
It’s doing the same to me.
“You can’t say things like that.”
“I can.”
“You can’t reject your mate because of me. I won’t let you do that.”
“Why not?” I joined her. “Is it because you can’t do the same for me? Are you going to leave me when you find your mate? Is that what you are trying to say?”
“I don’t want to do this with you. Please. I have to leave now.” She rushes into the closet, sobbing.
I fall back on the bed and heave out a heavy sigh of exasperation.
Once she’s done dressing up, she leaves the bedroom, still crying and I don’t try to stop her.
