Jovan’S POV.
“Alpha Jovan, your guest has arrived.” A servant announces from outside my room door and I jump down from my bed.
He’s here.
The private investigator I paid to do a background check on Reed has arrived and I am more than eager to go out there and find out who Reed truly is.
“I’ll be right there. You can leave now.” I dash into my closet and change into more presentable clothes before going downstairs to meet the man. The moment I walk into the living room and he sees me, he rises to his feet and bows down.
“Good day to you Alpha Jovan.” He greets respectfully and I smile from molar to molar.
Power brings respect and that’s why I want more of it so that when people see me, they won’t only bow to me, but they’ll go on their knees and worship me.
Just you wait until I take over from Jayce.
“Good day to you Liam. You can take your seat.” I urged him.
“Thank you, Alpha.” Once we are both seated, a female servant comes over and serves us some wine and leaves.
“So, what did you find out during your search?” I ask, eager. My eyes are almost boring holes in his face and that seems to make him look even more frightened.
He should be.
I’m his Alpha.
“Well…” He clears his throat. “Reed’s mother is off late and for his father, the only thing I could dig out about him is the fact that he wasn’t his mother’s mate. I searched the system, but I couldn’t get his identity and I asked people around, but know one knows about him either.”
“So how did Reed become an Omega if his father was a nobody?” I ask, curious.
“His maternal uncle used to be the former Omega of the pack. He retired after the former Alpha died and since he didn’t have any children of his own, his nephew, which was Reed, had to take his place. That’s how Reed became an Omega. He even bears his uncle’s name, because he was the father figure in his life.” The guy explains and I follow up closely.
It’s an interesting background story, but the most important person I want to know about has not been elaborated on.
Reed’s father.
Knowing who Reed’s biological father is will answer all my questions about him.
“I’m not satisfied with the findings you have made. I need you to dig more information about Reed’s father. Ask around, ask family members, friends, enemies. I don’t know how you are going to do it, but you need to find out who Reed’s father is. That’s what I need the most. Is that understood?” I ask, frowning and he calmly nods his head.
“Yes, Alpha Jovan. I will do my best to find out everything about Reed’s father.”
“Good. You have one week to present your findings to me. I do not want to be disappointed.”
“I’ll do everything in my power to please you, Alpha.”
“Good. You may leave now.” He rises to his feet and scurries out of my living room. I stay behind, sipping more wine from my wine glass and staring blankly at the chandelier hanging on the high ceiling above.
I have a feeling I’m not going to like what I’ll find out about Reed.

WEDNESDAY.
Alora’S POV.
“Why don’t you try it on?” I ask Tania whom I’ve noticed to be staring at a flowering flay gown for several minutes now. She obviously likes it, but the moment she hears my voice, she averts her gaze from the dress like it suddenly became the most hideous thing she had ever seen.
She casts me a shocked gaze and I nod, smiling.
“Yes, try it on and if it fits, you can have it. It’s obvious you like it.” She vigorously shakes her head in denial.
“No… I… I can’t have it.” She chuckles nervously. “We are here for your shopping. I’m sorry for getting distracted.” She steps away from the dress. I rise and go over to her.
It pains my heart to see her behave like that.
“Tania.” I take her hands in mine, giving her a warm look. “Do you have any idea how grateful I am to have a friend like you?” I ask calmly, she’s looking at me with searching eyes. “You are not just my personal servant, in fact, I don’t even consider you my personal servant, you are my friend. The first ever friend I’ve had since I was born and the best and you have no idea how much I love you. I love you very much Tania and it hurts me when you try to reject gifts I offer to you. Don’t take me as a Luna or someone you have to serve, take me as a friend. We all know friends give each other nice things, don’t they?” A bright smile forms on my face. Tania tries in vain to hide hers.
“They do.”
“Or don’t you consider me as your friend?” I ask with creased brows. She quickly shakes her head and relief washes through me.
“Of course I do.”
“Then why don’t you want to accept a gift from me, your friend?”
“It’s complicated.”
“There’s nothing complicated about trying on a dress.” I head over to the dress and take it out from the rack it was hanging on. “There you go.” I force the dress into Tania’ hands and lead her to the dressing room.
She finally stops fighting back and puts on the dress. The moment she walks out of the dressing room, my mouth drops to the floor because of how beautiful the dress looks on her. The smile on her face makes it look even more gorgeous.
“Do you like it?” I ask, smiling.
“I love it!”
“And it fits perfectly, so you can have it.” She pauses, looks at me and the smile on her face disappears. My heart clenches. “Did I say something wrong?” I ask, worried. She quickly shakes her head.
“No. I’m… I’m just really excited and … you know…”
“Shocked?” I guess the word and she nods, confirming it to be right.
I completely understand her.
I have been a servant before and I know how impossible it is to have your Master we or Mistress reward you with a gift or even kind words. It’s painful what servants go through in the hands of cruel Masters and Mistresses.
That’s why I told myself I’m going to be different.
I’m not going to maltreat my servants. I will do everything I used to wish they did to me when I was a servant.
“The dress is yours now.” I give her a small smile. “You can pick a few other clothes while I go take a piss, I’m pressed.”.
“Let me come with you.” She urges. I instantly shake my head in denial.
“No. I have two guards already on my tail, I’ll be just fine. You stay here and pick more clothes. I’ll be right back.” She looks at the guards standing at a distance and the worried look on her face wipes away.
“Alright then. I’ll be waiting for you.” I nod and signal the guards to come with me.
They follow me across the mall and only stop when I take the hallway leading to the female restroom.
Once I’m done easing myself, I go over to the sink to wash my hands. As I do that, the door to the restroom opens, I look up expecting to see another girl coming in to ease herself, but my heart falls into my stomach when I see four masked men dressed in black.
I instantly stop washing my hands and try to scream, but I’m caught off by one of the men who cups his palm over my mouth, stopping me from screaming.
These men are no doubt going to kill me.
