Halle’S POV.
Cold breeze slaps my lips and I snap my eyes open. I look ahead, only to see Omega Reed looking at me like I grew two heads. Like he wasn’t kissing me a few seconds ago. Like his mind had been cleared of the spell that made him kiss me.
I was just about to smile, but seeing the look on his face, my face darkens and my shoulders sag.
This was a mistake.
That’s what’s ringing in his mind.
I can bet my life on that.
“You have to leave now.”
Gladly!
Without any hesitation, I rise from the bed and rush out of the bedroom.
“I’m not going to cry. I don’t have to cry. He’s not worth it!”
I repeat those words to myself as I descend the staircase, my voice breaking apart.
Jerk!
I should have known.
“Miss Halle…” Patrick tries to talk to me as I arrive at the living room, but I ignore him and head for the door. Tears are pricking behind my eyelids. There’s a painful lump in my throat that doesn’t want to go away and my Chest is threatening to burst open because of how hard my heart is beating.
I feel like I’m going to faint. Patrick keeps calling my name as I open the door but I have no intention of stopping, so I open the door and step outside.
That jerk…
“Ouch!” I topple over when a heavy blow lands on my left cheek. Before I can gain my balance, another punch follows and that makes me completely lose my balance and fall on the ground. A masked man starts walking towards me. I crawl backwards, panting as he comes closer. A loud scream escapes my lips when he pulls out a dagger.
“Please don’t kill me!” I cry as I rise to my feet, but the man doesn’t let me run away, he grabs my hair and pulls me backwards. I try to grab his hand and turn him over, but he’s incredibly strong!
What the fuck!
“Let me go!” I try once again, but my efforts are in vain. The man is actually way stronger than I am.
He lifts his right hand and as he lets it down, I feel a sharp, cold metal, sliding into my flesh.
I’ve been stabbed.
The reality hits me like a pile of blocks hitting my head. I open my mouth to scream, but I can’t find my voice. The man pushes me to the ground and starts walking towards me again.
My hand flies to the bleeding spot. My breaths are hitched in my throat. Tears are spilling down my cheeks like a waterfall.
Is this how I’m going to die?
“Please…” I try to beg. “Please stop.” But he doesn’t. He keeps coming closer and when he finally gets to me, he’s about to stoop down and latch onto me again when the main door flies open and Omega Reed comes rushing out, fully clothed in an all black outfit and looking dangerous. His eyes are blazing red with anger, his fingers have become paws.
My attacker turns around and he’s met with a heavy blow that sends him flying to the other end of the lawn.
What the fuck!
I rise up to see what’s going on. Pain sears through my stabbed wound but what I just witnessed is more shocking than anything else!
Did…
Did Omega Reed just send a man flying to the other end of the lawn with a single blow.
A scream cuts through the air and I see the man flying again to the other end.
Jesus!
Omega Reed literally teleports to where the masked man is lying and picks him up with a single hand, his feet are hanging in the air and he’s wheezing and growling in pain. With a single blow, the man flies yet again in the air and falls to the ground with a loud thud.
That’s his cue.
He crawls on his knees and Omega Reed watches him run away with both arms clenched by his side.
I’m looking at him in awe. Completely dumbstruck!
What did I just witness?
He fights like an Alpha!
“Halle!” He calls and rushes over to me. What he did to me in his bedroom flashes in my eyes, but I push it to the back of my mind and lift my hands up for help.
“Please take me to the hospital.” I cry, breathlessly.
“Of course baby. Of course.”
Baby!
Baby!!
Did he just call me baby!
I must be hallucinating.
He picks me up and carries me in his arms like I weigh less than nothing. My mind is still spinning about the baby issue. I’m fighting my urge to smile.
Right now I feel like I wasn’t even mad at him a few minutes ago.
“Apply pressure on the spot and try to stay with me.” He instructs as he puts me to lie in the back seat of his car. All I can do is nod my head and follow his instructions.
I’m in tremendous pain, but I know I’m not going to die.
I can’t die minutes after getting my first kiss from the guy I’m crushing on.
I can’t die after being called “Baby” by Omega Reed.

Jayce’S POV.
“I have to get this.” I tell Alora as I pick up my cell phone from the table.
Reed is calling.
Reed hardly calls unless it’s very important.
“Reed.” I call the moment I press the phone against my ear.
“Alpha Jayce.” His voice is broken. He sounds distressed. That sets me on the edge.
“Tell me what’s wrong.”
“It’s Halle. She got attacked by a strange man at my house. She was stabbed.”
“What!” I rise from the table and the impact makes the dishes rattle. Alora almost chokes on her food.
“We are at the pack hospital right now.” He sounds gloomy. It’s breaking my heart.
Jesus, why do things related to Reed affect me so much?
“Babe, what’s wrong?” Alora asked.
“I’ll be right there.” I tell him and end the call. Alora is looking at me expectantly.
“What happened to Reed?”
“Not Reed, Halle.”
“Halle?” She screams in horror. “What happened to Halle?” Now she’s panicking.
“She was stabbed at Reed’s place. Let’s go over to the hospital and see her.”
We both rush over to the staircase and head to our bedroom.
Once we are done wearing sweaters and shoes, we leave the castle with a driver who takes us to the hospital.
“Reed!” I call the moment we get into the outpatient ward. Reed looks at me and I have never seen him look so worried before.
“Alpha Jayce.”
“How is she?”
“The doctors are still working on her.” He’s pacing about and I’m trying to understand how Halle got stabbed at his house.
First things first, Reed never lets anyone over at his place. Not even me, his Alpha. Secondly…
A woman!
He let a woman into his house.
I give him a suspicious look.
I want to bombard him with the questions flooding my mind right now, but I hold myself back. He looks very distressed. Now is not the right time.
“Is she going to be alright?” Alora asks. I wrap my arms around her trembling body and kiss her hair.
“She’s going to be alright. The doctors are doing their best to make sure she comes out of there alive and strong.” I say all this with my eyes glued to Reed who keeps walking helter-skelter.
Reed is not a dyspathic person, but he doesn’t sympathise with people either. This is the first time I’m seeing him getting worked over someone being injured other than me.
And it’s a girl.
That can only mean one thing.
He has feelings for her.
Reed likes a girl!
That’s great news! Lucky girl!
The wait lasted for hours, but we all patiently waited. The moment a doctor opens the door, Reed rushes over to him with almost teary eyes.
“Doctor, how is she doing?” The doctor smiles. I sigh in relief.
“She’s out of danger. The stab didn’t touch any delicate organs so there were no complications. Right now, she’s resting in her ward.”
And Reed was gone before I could ask if we could go see her.
He’s smitten.
Nothing can convince me otherwise.
