Andre’s POV
I tried my best to control my anger. My kitten’s disappearance was tearing me apart. I had my men storm the inn and search every room, lobby, and basement.
If my kitten was still in this building, I wanted to make sure that she was found, and I was going to find the bastards that took her.
I stood outside waiting, flexing my fingers in anger as I heard the new ruckus that came from the inn.
Pierre was standing by my side, making calls. I had asked him to call every associate in Elvis Pine to see if they had seen Olivia, but so far, he had been unsuccessful.
Call after call was the same response and I was slowly losing my patience.
Then, the ruckus soon died down, and my men came out of the building.
“We searched everywhere, Sir, and we couldn’t find anything. We couldn’t find that lady that matched the description that you gave, either.”
I slammed my fist on the hood of my car and made a dent in it.
“Damn it!”
The men backed away from me in fear, and I couldn’t blame them. My nerves were frayed and raw at the moment.
“Alpha, if it would help, while we were searching, we found some surveillance cameras placed in the in. Maybe they have footage of what happened, and we can get a lead from there.”
I gasped in shock and ordered Pierre to get me my laptop in the car.
I placed my laptop on the hood of my now-dented car and began to type furiously on the keyboard.
“Sir, I think you should slow down before you fry your own computer,” Pierre advised kindly.
From the corner of my eye, I could see him looking at my fingers as they dashed across the keys, in horror that probably my keyboard would erupt into flames.
It took a while, but I was soon able to hack into the surveillance cameras and look at the time stamps.
“Twenty-fourth, twenty-fifth, yesterday…”
My body froze, and my eyes began to look around frantically.
“Yesterday? Where is the surveillance footage for today?”
I continued to look at the time stamps, and it soon dawned on me that there was no surveillance footage for today. The cameras had been switched off.
My rage nearly burst out of me, and I was this close to grabbing my laptop and smashing it on the ground.
If the surveillance cameras are switched off, then this was all planned. We were brought here so that Olivia could be taken without anyone watching.
Sephora, on the other hand, had taken a step back from me. My wolf was howling in anger and was threatening to come out. I would tear every single person alive to pieces if that meant bringing my mate back.
“Alpha?”
Pierre was the one who took the bold step to approach me.
“What is going on? What happened to the surveillance videos?”
I growled and turned to him. I could see the reflection of my darkened green eyes in his pupils.
“Someone turned off the surveillance cameras. There is no footage for today, which means I cannot hack in and get the images back.”
Pierre’s mouth clamped shut, and Sephora lowered her head in disappointment.
Suddenly, she fell to her knees before me.
“Forgive me, Alpha. I should have gone with Miss Olivia. I should have protected her. I should have known that the men that we came with couldn’t be trusted, and I should have had her security as my number one priority.”
I glared at Sephora in anger, but slowly, my fury began to ebb away. It didn’t take long, and all that was left of my ferocity was a sigh.
“Sephora, get up. None of this is your fault. I should have assigned you to watch Olivia. It was I who didn’t take her security as a number one priority. None of this happened because of you.”
I felt a sinking feeling in my chest. My own men were blaming themselves for Olivia’s disappearance when they had nothing to do with it.
I pulled myself together and took deep breaths. No amount of rage was going to bring her back; I had to think of a foolproof plan.
“Pierre, get the car ready and I need you to assemble the staff that are in charge of the surveillance cameras and bring them to me. If the cameras were turned off, then it is likely that one of them did it to aid her captors.”
I looked through my men again, and I noticed that there was something off about them.
Someone was missing.
“Where the fuck is Jonas?” I said, snarling hatefully. It was his father that gave us the coordinates in the first place and he was the one that brought us here.
There was no reply, but finally, my men pushed his two guards from within their ranks to the front.
They fell to their knees and bowed their heads down to the ground.
“Forgive us, Alpha Andre, but Jonas left while you were inside searching. He said he had some important pack matters to attend to. He didn’t tell us specifically what they were, but he left in a rush, and he took his car with him.”
I turned and saw that Jonas’s car was missing. That bastard had zoomed off just as the chaos was brewing.
It is only the guilty that run. It gave me every reason to suspect that he had something to do with this. I never trusted him from the very start. Whatever fishy business was going on, he might have known exactly what it was.
All my men circled Jonas’ two guards and were snarling at them in contempt and spite. I could feel their bloodlust, and they were hungry to kill them, as was I, but doing that wasn’t going to get us anywhere.
“Fall back, men. Leave them alone. They are working for Jonas, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they were involved in anything that happened today. They were simply following orders.”
My guards fell back, and I could see relief wash over the two guards who were cowering on the floor.
“Get into the cars, everyone; we are leaving.”
Sephora and Pierre looked at each other in shock and then turned to me.
“Leaving? Why? It can’t be too long since they kidnapped her and disappeared. If we start driving, I’m sure we can track her scent and track her down,” Sephora offered with dedication, and Pierre stared at her in admiration.
“We can’t track them down. Not without a plan. I suggest we go back to Jonas’ family’s house and search there.”
“But why would you want to search there? If they are the ones involved in Olivia’s kidnapping, likely, they wouldn’t hide her right beneath her feet,” Pierre asked in confusion.
I started walking to the vehicle and opened the back door.
“That’s exactly what they want you to think. Hiding Olivia right under our feet is the most unlikely place, and so it may be their first option…”
