Jonas’ POV
“If I get that bastard, it will be too soon!”
I marched out of the mansion. I had managed to wrestle out Fentris’ home address from one of the guards on duty.
That bastard made me risk my neck to sneak into Andre’s office and steal documents for him. He promised to give me information about Nicole and he hasn’t even contacted me.
I was going to find him and strangle the information out of him.
I pushed past another pedestrian and continued to storm angrily down the street.
“10 Elite Avenue? Where is it?”
I growled as I looked at the paper the guard had given me and tried to find the number of Fentris’s home.
That bastard better be at home, or else I was going to make life ten times worse for him.
“10 Elite Avenue? There it is!”
I scrunched the paper up, shoved it back into my pocket, and made a beeline for Fentris’ home. Every atom in me was enraged, and I could already imagine sinking my fist into his old, ugly face.
I reached the door and began to knock furiously.
“Fentris! Open up! Open the damn door; else I’ll kick it down myself!”
I continued to bang on the door, and finally, it clicked from the inside.
A maid opened the door and gave me a polite curtsy.
“Good afternoon. I am sorry to inform you that Counselor Fen…”
“Get the fuck out of my way!”
I grabbed the maid and pulled her outside and forced my way into the house.
“Ahhh! What are you doing? The counselor is…”
She tried to run after me and stop me from going inside, but it was too late. I was already in Fentris’ study, glowering at the old man as he sat at his desk with files in front of him.
The maid began to fidget nervously.
“I am so sorry, Counselor. I tried to stop him. I told him that…
The counsellor raised his hand to silence her, and her mouth clamped shut immediately.
“I know that you tried your best, Lilian. You may leave now, and I will attend to the guest.”
The maid gave a fearful curtsy and left the room.
I was alone with Fentris, and the old man ignored me and continued to fill out his documents as if I didn’t exist.
“Is this what you’re going to do, old man? I did what you asked. I fulfilled my end of the bargain, and you have not yet filled yours.”
I slammed my hands on the desk, but he didn’t even flinch in fear.
“Care to explain to me why?”
The old man didn’t even care to raise his head and look me in the eyes.
“You didn’t bring me the right documents .”
“Screw that bullshit! I brought the documents that you asked for. Now, where is the information that you’re supposed to give me, fool!”
“You are the fool!”
He grabbed some papers on his desk and flung them at me angrily.
“You grabbed the wrong documents. Andre played the both of us!”
I grabbed the documents that he flung at me and looked at the first four pages. They seemed to have reasonable information and everything that Fentris wanted, but as I continued to flip through, I realised that the information kept getting dumber and dumber. There was even a page that had ‘I will not steal again’ written all over it.
I looked at the first page again and noticed that the picture was badly printed, and the name was spelt in some kind of foreign language. There were errors throughout, but they were so minute that I didn’t even recognize them when I glanced through the file the first time.
I growled, scrunched the paper up, and threw it across the room. I grabbed Fentris by the throat and lifted him off his seat.
“I will give you till the count of ten to tell me what I need to know, or else, you will not like what will happen next. I did what you asked; I risked my neck for this stupid plan of yours, and I delivered. Now, you are going to fulfil your end of the bargain. Ten, nine, eight…”
I saw the fear in Fentris’ eyes rise as he stared at my face. I was harbouring murderous intent. I was going to kill him if he didn’t tell me what I wanted to know.
“Still keeping silent, old man?! You have five more seconds. Five, four, three, two…”
“Wait, wait, wait!”
I stopped my countdown and looked at his pathetic whimpering face.
“Talk!” I barked.
He gulped nervously and began to take shallow, frantic breaths.
“I actually don’t have any valuable information about Nicole or the people that pursued her. I only know that I found her stranded and took her into my home and introduced her to this pack when I moved here. I do not know anything about her background, who she lived with, or the people that were hunting her down.”
I gripped him even harder. I could feel my wolf snarling inside of me, hungry for revenge.
“What exactly are you trying to tell me?!”
“What I am trying to say,” said Fentris fearfully. “is that I lied. I took advantage of the situation so that I could get the documents that I needed. But they ended up being fake. Andre must have known that I was going to send you into his study and he made a contingency plan for it. He played us both.”
I snarled and threw Fentris across the room. He smashed into a bookshelf, and a ton of books were dislodged, falling on his head.
“No. Andre played you, and you played me. That is a mistake that I’ll never make again.”
I grabbed a heavy book on the desk and flung it at Fentris’ face. It hit him square in the temple, and he fell unconscious.
I stormed out of his study, and his maid rushed in fearfully. As I left his home, I could hear her lament over her master’s minor injury.
I stormed down the street, and my brows were followed in anger. I snarled and growled to myself. I was going to find Andre and make him pay for what he did. No one double-crosses me or tricks me like that. No one.
