CHAPTER TWELVE

Book:THE SUPREME ALPHA'S HATED LUNA Published:2024-11-19

Jayce’S POV.
I barely got through the rest of the day. I finished the rest of my work without my soul. The only thing in my mind was to go over to Jovan’s Chambers and have him well beaten for what he did and said to Alora earlier today. The conversation I had with Reed didn’t make things any better. He threw bitter pills in my mouth that were hard to swallow.
“Alpha.” The guards greet me as I walk past them. On a normal day, I would greet them back and try to converse with them before walking on, but today is not a very good day. I’m heading over to Jovan’s Chambers to have a word with him. He needs to explain to me what happened. When I get into the living room, I find him comfortably seated on a sofa in his living room, doing the only thing he does with his time.
Watching TV.
My stepbrother Jovan is lazy, but he believes he will be a better leader for the pack. It was a war to get him to complete his college education and even after the elders proposed he got a job at one of the firms in the city, but he had blatantly refused and chose to stay at home doing nothing. All he does is go around bullying people and harassing female servants despite the fact that he has found his own mate whom he is married to.
He thinks because he is first born, he has the right to the throne and that’s why he has been competing with me for power and is doing everything to have me dethroned.
I would have to die before I let my brother take over this pack as Alpha. If that ever happens, everything our ancestors fought hard to build will be destroyed by him within the twinkle of an eye. He is careless, irresponsible, narcissistic and insufferably arrogant. The last thing he could be is a leader. I was low-key happy when he refused to take control of any of the firms, he would have done more harm than good to the entire firm.
“Look who we have here.” He says laughing as he rises to his feet. If I leave this place without punching him, call me an imbecile. “I’m guessing Alora went running to daddy after the conversation we had.”
“You harassed her.”
“Come on now, brother. A little pat on the ass is hardly any harassment. By the way, she has such a fine ass. You got lucky on that aspect.” Everytime he calls me brother, I feel like ripping his tongue from his mouth. I’m going to do it one day.
I grit my teeth as I try to collect myself and stay calm. I don’t want to get physical with him when I haven’t said what I came here to say.
“This will be the last time you do something like that. Do not fucking touch my mate again, ever!” I warn, ignoring the anger inside me, treathening to tip me over. He’s smiling and it’s making my pulse race so fast. He has no idea what I’m tempted to do to him right now. He chuckles, mocking me. I clench my fist by my side.
“Oh, I quiver with fear.” He pretends to tremble and laughs even harder. He’s mocking me. Classy! “You should know by now that your threats don’t work on me. I will do anything I want, with anyone even if that person is you fucking mate. I will fuck her if I want. Get that into your thick skull.” I slide my tongue over my button lips and take a step back, pretending to be distracted by something. Anger makes it to the forefront of my consciousness and when I turn back to him, I’m connecting my fists with his jaw and he flies to the other end of the room and crashes against the wall before hitting the ground hard. I watch all that unfold with my fists curled by my side and smoke breezing out of my ears.
I’ve never done this before. I always let him get away with his words that’s why he’s giving me the shocked expression.
“Did you… did you just hit me?” He asks, trying to sit upright.
“Say one more perverse word about my mate again and I’ll break all your ribs. Go near her and I’ll end your life. You seem to have forgetten your place in this castle. You are nothing and I could easily get rid of you if I wanted.” He brings his fingers to his lips and touches it. It’s bleeding. He laughs as he looks at the blood on his fingers and rises, but the impact of the crash is hard, he staggers a few times before gaining his balance, but his knees give way and he drops back to the floor.
“And for how long do you intend to keep fighting her battles? For how long are you going to protect her?” He chuckles with his bloody lips.
“As long as I have to.”
“A war is ongoing, Jayce. She’s not going to survive.”
“Allow me to worry about that. Don’t drag her into this…”
“I didn’t drag her in. She waltzed into this war the moment she became your mate. I had a chance to be Alpha until she showed up. Right now, she is even more of a target to me than you are. She’s my greatest foe and I will do all I can to get her out of the picture. You are not going to be able to stop me, Jayce. All my plans will push through and I will make sure you watch me take everything away from you. Your mate, your pack, your subjects and even your life. That is a promise.” I shove both hands in my trouser pockets and look at him, completely amused by his plans and overall, his confidence.
This is the first time he’s coming out clearly to me. Telling me to my face how he plans to take everything away from me. Most times I want to hate our late father for making the mistake of bringing him into this world, but then, the deed has been done and I just have to deal with it. Regardless, my life would have been so easy without him.
He’s a thorn in my flesh. A log in my eye. The bane of existence.
I hate him. I hate him so much that I’m happy he had openly declared a war between us. A war in which I’m going to have him killed and not live with the guilt of killing my brother. He just opened a can of worms and has no idea it will devour him.
I look down at him and smile.
“You have a lot going on in you mind. Thank you for giving me a sneak peek of it. It’s quite messy.”
“You think I’m messing with with you?” He frowns. I walk over to where he’s seated. He’s still on the floor.
“Of course not. I know you all too well to know when you are messing with me, which is never! You never play with me. Even when you tried to drown me in the pool when we were kids and lied to our father that you were just playing, you weren’t. You’ve always wanted to get rid of me, you’ve just never openly told me openly. But you just did and I’m thrilled. Wanna know why?” He stays silent. “I’ll take that as a yes.” I take out my hands from my pockets and stoop before him. “There’s something you should also know, brother.” I almost swallow my tongue after saying that word. “I am sick and tired of your bullshit and you have no idea how much I wanna get rid of you. This war, will be the perfect opportunity for me to accomplish that long time dream of mine. So brace yourself.” I rise to my feet and he’s looking at me like he just saw a ghost.
I’ve never had to give him a piece of my mind. I’ve always been silent, tolerating his nonsense, but today, he struck the wrong nerve.
My mate?
He fucking touched my mate.
If my father didn’t love him I would’ve killed him.
“Seems like I touched a bad spot.” He rises to his feet in difficulty. This time around, he doesn’t fall back down. He staggers for a while and gains his balance. “I’m glad this is now in the open and that the feeling is mutual. I’ll have a good time kicking your ass brother. And I’ll have an even better time killing you. So watch your back.” He threatens, I smile.
“Likewise me, but then, lay a finger on my mate again and I’ll deliver your mother’s head to you on a plate.” Something flickers in his eyes. It’s anger. I just touched the wrong spot as well.
“Keep my mother out of this.” That actually makes me laugh.
“Oh… I should.” I laugh so hard that I almost lose my breath. That’s the thing with trouble makers. They think they are invincible, but they forget to know they can be just as vulnerable as the people they are trying to victimize. “And I was getting worried I would be the only one between us with someone to protect.” I shake my head. “This is going to be so much fun. Wherever father is, I hope he grabs a bucket of popcorn, because things are about to get interesting.” With that, I exit the living room with a triumphant smile plastered on my face.
Jovan needs to accept the fact that he’s not the only one who can dish out threats. I choose to say quiet not because I’m weak.
I am the Supreme Alpha. I threaten people for a living.
He just shook the beast in me. He won’t know what hit him.
