Olivia’s POV
I gasped and took a frightened step back.
“Hello, kitten. Isn’t it a lovely night for an escape?”
I felt my whole body freeze. He stepped into the light, and I saw the fury on his face. I gasped and took a step back.
All of a sudden, I felt anger wash over me. What was he doing here? Was he trying to stop me?
Did he know I was planning to escape in the first place?
“What are you even doing here?” I asked angrily.
He chuckled and took another step towards me. I stepped back; I didn’t want him any closer.
“I should be the one asking you that, kitten. I didn’t think you would be outside by this time of the night, yet here you are.”
He walked towards me, and I walked backwards, desperate to escape him…
“Ahhh…”
I lost my footing and felt myself falling backwards. But suddenly, I felt a strong arm around my waist, catching me just seconds before I hit the ground.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I stared at Andre’s angry face. He looked furious, and my throat was dry in fright.
He gripped me harder, and I could feel his fingers sinking hard into my back.
“Did you really think you could just leave, and I wouldn’t know?”
I was numb; the words failed to form in my throat. I could only feel the heat of his anger and the intensity in his eyes.
“Answer me, Olivia!”
I whimpered but still didn’t say anything. I was terrified.
“I have waited for you for 20 years, and you just thought you could sneak out and disappear into thin air. You seem to forget who I am, Olivia.”
He gripped me harder, and tears began to stream down my face.
“Please, I can’t stay here. This is wrong. All this is wrong. You have to let me go. Please let me go.”
He pulled me closer and stared me unblinkingly in the eyes. I never thought his handsome dark eyes could look so hateful and angry.
“What is wrong, Liv? Is being my mate wrong? Tell me! What?!”
I cried harder.
“Please, I can’t do this anymore. I have to leave.”
“What can’t you do? Be with me? Enjoy the way I make you feel? Enjoy the way I make you cum…”
“Please don’t remind me. We shouldn’t have done that. We shouldn’t have done any of it.”
He shook his head slowly.
“Olivia, Olivia, Olivia. Why do you want to deny what you feel? I know you feel a connection when you’re near me. I can sense it. I can smell it. Your body feels it even when I hold you like this…”
“You are not my mate! I haven’t even gotten my wolf. None of this is true.”
As if on command, the clouds moved away from the moon, and its light bathed us undiluted.
Andre breathed in deeply, soaking in the rays and cool evening breeze.
“Well, now is your time to find out.”
He let go of me and stepped back.
“The Moon is out, Liv. Shift.”
Was he crazy? I couldn’t just shift.
“What are you doing? I can’t shift. I don’t know how.”
“What is it, Liv? Are you scared? Are you scared that I’ve been telling the truth all along? I don’t see what you are waiting for anymore.”
I felt the moon bathe me in its gentle glow, and I could hear a loud howling in my head. My head began to throb painfully.
“Do it, Liv.”
“No. Stop!”
“You’re scared, aren’t you..?”
“Stop! I’m not scared!”
“Scared that I was telling the truth all along. You’re scared that I’m your mate.”
“Leave me alone!” My voice came out in an animalistic snarl, and I could feel something bubbling strongly underneath my skin.
The howling became louder, and it felt like everything was spinning around me.
“Shift Liv.”
“Leave me alone!”
“Shift, Liv!” Andre growled, and shivers rushed through me.
“Stop!”
“Shift Liv!!!!”
“Awwwwwoooooooooo!!!”
A howl burst from my mouth and pierced the night. The birds all fell silent, and I felt my body changing. The wolf in me took over, and soon, I felt my claws and fangs tear through my flesh and something, like a tail, swish behind me.
Soon, I snarled and was on all fours. My paws sunk deep into the grass, and I saw my furry muzzle. I looked at my fur, and it was a bright white. I felt powerful, and suddenly, I felt a powerful tug. It felt like a magnet, and it was pulling me, pulling me towardsAndre.
I could smell his scent encircle and engulf me. I felt the howling in my head grow louder, punctuated with occasional whimpering. My wolf wanted Andre. It was calling out to him.
No, this couldn’t be. He had been telling the…
“Woah!”
I fell hard to the ground, landing butt-first on the grass. I looked at my hands and legs. My fur and my tail, fangs, claws and paws had gone. I was back to normal.
I looked at myself in disbelief, and the moon disappeared behind the clouds again; its glow greatly diminished.
Andre walked up to me and looked down at me. His face was as serious as ever.
“Tell me, Olivia, do you still doubt the Goddess? Do you still think that all this is some joke or mistake? Do you still doubt that I’m your mate?”
I was dumbfounded. I didn’t even know what to say.
“Answer me! Do you still think that the Goddess made a mistake?”
His voice boomed, and I shook my head numbly.
“I want you to say it, Olivia. Do you still doubt it?”
“No,” I said softly, with a whimper.
Suddenly, he grabbed my arm and pulled me up and close to him, crushing my body against his.
“Next time. You will think twice before trying to escape. You are mine. Even if you are lucky enough to find a way to slither out of here, I will find you and drag you back here.”
He grabbed my face a little roughly and made me look at him. His green eyes were a darker shade now, and the fury in his eyes as he looked at me was enough to tell me that he hadn’t forgiven me.
“Don’t think that you are off the hook, kitten.”
“I will show you what happens to disobedient kittens that try to run away.”
