I didn’t mind and kept downing every glass given to me with elegance and confidence. I was at my third glass when I caught a glimose of a familiar figure outside watching me with great intensity, making my heart flutter.
Nicholas?? What is he doing here and how does he even know I’m here?? I was really surprised, confused and happy at the same time. I dropped the glass of alcoholic wine and excused myself to freshen up before leaving.
When I left the room, I couldn’t see him anymore like he had just vanished into thin air. I looked around but there was no sign of him in the hotel. Or were my eyes playing tricks on me??
I signed in defeat when I couldn’t see any sign of him. I had forgotten about how busy he is. Why would I imagine him being here at a time like this? I guess I missed him that much. I felt really disappointed that he wasn’t here. I turned on my heels and went into the female restroom.

Nicholas watched from his hiding spot as Catherine left in disappointment. After she had left, he came out from where he was and followed her at a safe distance to see where she was heading too. He stopped when he saw her entering the female’s restroom.
He had been watching her from the moment she entered the hotel. He didn’t expect to see her here in the midst of all those men. He got really curious and followed them to their room.
He watched in fury and concern as they all kept making her drink. It was obvious that they had something else in mind so why does she keep condoning their attitude?
He couldn’t bear to see her in their midst but he couldn’t do anything. From the looks of it, they were business patners and him interfering would cost her a lot.
He didn’t want to jeopardize her work so he could only watch from afar. His train of thoughts were cut short when he heard the door to the restroom being opened.
He was quick to hide himself when he saw Catherine coming out. He would have shown himself to her but the only reason he didn’t was became he didn’t want her to think of him as a stalker.
He watched as she staggered slightly while heading back to the room. She only had two glasses of wine, how come she’s drunk already?? He couldn’t help but wonder.

The wine was really taking a toll on me. I never knew that it was this strong. I managed to compose myself before entering the room back.
“I thought you ditched us.” One of our investors, named Larry said as his eyes landed on me.
With a soft smile plastered on my face; “Why would I leave when you all are my guest??” I asked back.
“Alright then.. come sit with us.” He offered as he patted on a spot next to him.
“Thank you but I’ll just take my former se…”
“I insist.. come sit with us.” He added with a hint of impatience evident in his voice.
I sighed deeply as I tried so hard to hide my discomfort before sitting on the seat he offered. Normally, I wouldn’t be entertaining things like this but I had to make this project a success.
He offered me more drinks and I kept drinking without any complain. As the dinner continued, most of the people around started leaving one by one while some others stayed behind.
A lot of time had gone by and I wasn’t even able to keep count of the wine I had drank. I stared at my wrist watch drowsily and noticed that it was already 2am in the morning.
The remaining investors were still enthusiastic to continue but I wasn’t. I needed to leave now so I stood up.
“I think I have to take my leave now.” I announced as I picked up my handbag.
“Why? We are just getting started.” One of them said.
“I would love to continue but I can’t. I have a lot of work to do.” I explained.
“Young lady, don’t you think we also have work to do?” The Larry guy said drowsily. He was really drunk and he’s already getting on my nerves.
With a tight lipped smile; “I’m sure you’re really busy but I’m afraid I can’t stay any longer. I’ll have the hotel workers tend to you and make sure you’re not uncomfortable. Good bye.” I said as I bowed respectfully at all of them and left before they would stop me from leaving.
I sighed in relief when I got outside the hotel. I just couldn’t stand their continuous flattery. I’m never doing this again. I shut my eyes as a wave of drowsiness amd discomfort hit me.
The alcohol was already taking effect on my body so I pinched myself very hard so as to stay awake. I picked up my phone and was about to a driver to take me back home when I heard my name being called.
I turned back only to see Larry stumbling towards me. I rolled my eyes in frustration. What the hell is wrong with him??
“What are you doing outside here alone??” I was about to answer him when I felt my stomach churn.
It got really unbearable so I moved to a very secluded area and puked out all the wine I had drank. After vomiting, I wiped my mouth with a small tissue that had been in my bag.
The night breeze felt so chilly and that made me shiver tremendously. I really need to get home before I catch a cold. I was about to leave when I felt a nudge on my back.
“Why are you ignoring me??” Larry who I didn’t know had followed me asked.
“I’m sorry but I really need to get home.” I said, still trying to maintain my respect for him as he was older but at that moment, he didn’t seem to be in his right mind.
“Who the hell do you think you are?? How dare you ignore me?!?!” He asked angrily as he suddenly gripped my hands tightly, thereby stopping me from leaving.
Due to the amount of alcohol I had taken, I had no control of the situation and be was also stronger than me. Despite my protests, he pulled me and tried to force me into his car.
I tried to scream but he was quick to slap his hand over my mouth. Instinctively, I bit his hand that was covering my mouth and he let me go immediately.
Taking that as my chance, I decided to make a run for it when I suddenly bumped into a wall like structure. Groaning in pain, I looked up only to see Nicholas staring down at me. His eyes darkened when he saw the red marks on my arm, gotten from when Larry was pulling me with me.
In anger, he rushed towards Larry and landed a hard blow on his face, knocking him out immediately. After, he turned to face me and wrapped his hands around me protectively.
“Are you alright? Did he do anything to you?” He asked in concern.
I didn’t answer as I kept staring at him in admiration. He’s always the there whenever I need him and never fails to come to my aid like a knight in shining armour.
