One step ahead

Amara followed quietly behind Hector as they proceeded towards their room. When they were finally settled, she tried to engage him in a conversation but he didn’t give her any chance.
He laid tiredly on the bed and shut his eyes like he was asleep. She wanted to try to convince him about what had happened in the company but it seemed like she wouldn’t be able to have such a chance anymore.
“This is all Catherine’s fault.” She sneered within her as she bit her nails anxiously.
If Catherine keeps getting the upper hand in this house, all her efforts and suffering would be for nothing. She needed to do something to make Catherine turn back to the mellow person she used to be.
She scratched her neck in disgust before walking towards where Hector laid. “My love..” She called as she tapped him softly but he didn’t budge one bit. She noticed how low and even his breaths were which meant he was already asleep.
“He’s sleeping already.. how lazy.” She scoffed out and eyed him angrily.
She was about to wake him up when she suddenly heard a loud clattering sound. She paused on her spot and turned to face the door. She smiled happily when she realised where the sound was coming from.
She knew that Andrew would never take what Catherine did today lightly. He had always been a violent man but held himself back because of Catherine’s father and he never had to assault Catherine because she always did what he wanted.
She checked to see if Hector was still asleep and smiled when she saw that his eyes where shut close. She tip toed out of the room and rushed out to the dining hall. She didn’t want to miss the show but what greeted her was far more than what she had hoped for.
“Andrew!!” She called out in shock when she saw her lover laying down on the floor with a busted head. She rushed to him and crouched next to where he was.
“What happened??” She asked in concern. Her loud voice was enough to alert some of the workers in the house so they all rushed out.
“Oh my God! What happened sir?” The head maid asked as she rushed towards him.
“I tripped and fell. It’s nothing.” Andrew lied, as he signalled them to leave but they didn’t listen.
“This isn’t nothing. You’re bleeding on your head.” Amara argued.
“I said I’m fine.” He wanted to stand up when a migraine suddenly hit him, sending him back to the cold floor.
“Go call the doctor!” Amara ordered but Andrew’s voice stopped them.
“Call any doctor and this would be the last time you’ll ever work here.” He threatened.
“Andrew..” Amara was confused as to why he was acting that way.
“Leave and forget about what you just saw today. Any one that mentions this incident would be dealt with severely by me. Am I understood??” He asked and all the workers around nodded in fear before they scampered out of the room.
When they were finally alone, Amara helped Andrew up and took him outside to the garden, which was also their secret spot. She treated and dressed his wound with the first aid box she took out with her.
“Thankfully the wound wasn’t so deep but you still need to see a doctor.” Amara said after she was done.
“There’s no need for that. I’ll just take some prescribed medicine. I can’t draw attention to myself.”
“So what if attention is being drawn to you? Catherine did this to you and she has to pay.”
“You want everyone in the country to find out that I was beaten by my own wife?? Don’t you know how humiliating it is”
“We can report to her father. If he hears it from me, it would make him hate her the more.” Answered Amara.
“I don’t think that woukd work.”
“Why not? You know they are still at each other’s throat.”
“Haven’t you noticed a change in their relationship?? Ever since that day at the hospital, Catherine had changed. For the first time, she asked me for a divorce, she’s trying to mend her broken relationship with her father by joining the company back and now, she even attacked me.” Andrew said as he pointed to his bruised head.
“You’re right. She also doesn’t come to me for advice anymore. This is so unlike her.”
“You see.. this might even be the end of my marriage with her if Hector finds out about everything that happened today and that would make all our efforts useless.” Andrew explained.
“But we have to do something. We can’t keep letting her walk over us. I’m tired of spending more time with that old man. I want us to end all of this quickly and go back to the way we used to be.” Amara said as she trailed her hands seductively down his chest but he quickly grab it before it could go lower. That action made her upset so she withdrew her hand but Andrew didn’t seem to notice.
“I want us to end it quickly too but how? Catherine is obviously on to us with the way she has been acting. We can’t use her anymore nor Hector since their relationship has already been mended.”
“What if we wreck their relationship again?” Amara asked as a smirk suddenly grew on her face.
“How do we do that? Catherine doesn’t listen to us anymore neither will Hector.”
“We don’t need to say anything.. we’ll just…” Amara looked from her left to her right to see if anyone’s listening before she said something to Andrew. Andrew’s lips curved into a wide smirk after he heard all Amara had to say.
“If this plan goes well, everything will be back to the way it was..”
“… and this empire would be ours soon.” Amara added.
“Oh.. you’re so smart baby.” Andrew praised as he pressed a deep kiss on Amara’s lips.
“Well, what can I say? I learnt from the best.” Amara muttered and that made Andrew’s smile widen.
“Come here..” Andrew said as he pulled her to sit on his laps and kissed her ferociously.

Catherine scoffed as she watched their love making section through her laptop. Earlier, she had connected all of the mansions cctv cameras to her laptop so she would be able to monitor their movements and be one step ahead of them.
Like she had expected, they weren’t going to back down easily. Hell, they would even hit her with a much harder force but too bad, she’s already ready for whatever they had to throw at her.
“You don’t know what’s coming for you both.” She said to herself before shutting down her laptop.
