Chapter 98

Book:Alpha Arthur, She is mine Published:2024-11-18

Luna Chloe;
“Tell me, Mother, what I heard isn’t true? Hmm?” I hold onto her hands, fighting within me to control my emotions.
Even since that arrogant Alpha she-wolf visited me, I’ve found it hard to be settled. It felt like everything within me was struggling to breathe. Never had someone put me in this position before.
I know there are a few times I’ve had a beef talk with some ladies but I mostly always had the last laugh. Just on a few occasions, Elara had gotten to beat me in this. Funny how I never worried so much after my confrontation with Elara.
But this lady was different. She just wasn’t a lady that came for a confrontation. She was an enemy who somehow knew too much. I needed to confirm with Mother if the lady’s words were true. That was my reason for visiting my father’s house.
Mother snatches her hands away from my holds. “You mean to tell me, Chloe, that if a crazy lady didn’t walk up to you and say crazy things, you wouldn’t have visited your father and me?”
“What she said, were they crazy?” my fingers dig through my hair in frustration. I need to get my answers from Mother, and I have to, right now. I don’t have all day to spend here.
“Is that the only important thing to you? You just need an answer from me so you can go secure that stupid throne of yours. When did you become this greedy, Chloe?” Mother sprints up from her seat. “If you are not here for the welfare of your parents, please leave.”
“Mother!”
“I said leave, Chloe. I didn’t raise you to be this evil, and greedy. You’re just a disappointment to us.”
Her words make my cheeks drag in a nasty smile, and I chuckle dryly. I was so annoyed. No, she was annoying me. I didn’t come here for lectures. Don’t know why she chooses to spoil my day.
“How am I a disappointment to you, Mother? Tell me. Everything I did or displayed, I learned from you. Every damn thing. Greed? Did you call me greedy? Look in the mirror and tell me who I took over from.”
“You didn’t take over from me, Chloe. I never went around killing pack members and subjecting them to hardships. I’m…”
“You didn’t do all these because you didn’t have the opportunity to, Mother. You don’t have the power. Did I hear you mention you didn’t kill anyone,” I whiffed to myself. “That’s funny, Mother. I watched you stab Elara’s Mother with a knife. You killed the poor woman and framed up an innocent nanny.”
Something Mother doesn’t have an idea about, is the fact I know about that evening. The evening she took the life of that poor thing. I was just a girl but I understood what happened that day.
From the backseat of the car, I watched my Mother do it. Even if she instructed me to stay put in my seat. But something I wanted to know was what happened after then. I vividly recall there was another woman. However, I couldn’t tell who she was.
The day of that incident was my first time setting my eyes on her.
“Yes, I stabbed her, Chloe. But it wasn’t my intention. I did it for you. Everything was for you. Killing that bitch and having you take over her daughter’s position, was all for you. So, don’t fucking stand there and judge me,” she roars in anger.
The game Mother is trying to play is something I know too well. A game of pity! She wants me to feel guilty for her own actions. I wasn’t new to this. It’s basically something she gets to do whenever she doesn’t want to take responsibility for her actions. Anyway, that’s my least problem.
I’m here for something more important.
“Mother. Mother. Mother. I’m not here for your pity speech. I just want to know if you killed Alpha Arthur’s Mother.”
“And if I say yes to doing it, what the hell will you do about it?” She responds, throwing her face to the side. Her hands crossed around her chest.
“You can’t be serious, right?” I softly breathe, swallowing hard, trying to take in what she has said.
“I didn’t know she was the Luna, Chloe. I just saw her as a lady who was getting nosey in my business. And when I met one strange lady who decided to join hands with me and help take Luna out of the way, I agreed to it. I have my reasons, Chloe,” she confirms with me, and my heart runs to my throat.
One of my fears is unveiling. This can’t be the truth. No, Mother can’t mess things up for me this way.
I exhale. Tucking my hair behind my ear, “What strange lady helped you with carrying out this task?” Oh, dear Goddess, the strange lady shouldn’t be Leona, or anyone related to her.
Please.
“I don’t know her name, Chloe. We only met during that period of time and carried out our mission. That was it.”
“That was it, Mother? That’s what you’re trying to say? I have someone after my position as Luna, and she promised to expose the truth of Alpha Arthur’s Mother’s death to him. And the only information you could give me was ‘That was it.’ Mother, do you know what will become the fate of this household when Alpha Arthur finds out the truth? You, I, Father, and that stupid thing, Elara, won’t live to tell the story…”
“But no one knows about this aside from the strange lady and I. We swore an oath of secrecy. She knows she dares not to break it.”
“What do you even speak of, Mother? I just told you a young lady knew about the truth and she’s ready to go public with it.”
“Oh, come off it, Chloe,” Mother sinks her ass into the sofa. Unbothered. “If a young lady knows the truth, then that must be the strange lady’s daughter. No daughter will dare rat on her Mother. You’re beating yourself over nothing,” she hiss.
“Seriously…”
I’m about to lash out at this woman who wants my heart rate to increase and take my life, when the ringing of my phone suddenly gets my attention.
Picking up the call, it’s Beta Loki. What does this weak man want from me? “Yes, what?” I hurry outside to speak. There are conversations I don’t want Mother to hear.
She has been acting strangely these days and I can’t trust her for anything.
“Alpha Arthur is returning to the Pack, and he knows all about your madness,” Beta Loki informs me from the other side of the speaker.
My feet stopped dead in my tracks when I heard him speak of Alpha Arthur knowing about everything I’d done. My eyelids flicker, and I gulp down the lump in my throat, “What do you mean, ‘my madness’ and how did Alpha Arthur….?”
“I will advise you to stay back at your parent’s house for a while, because you and I won’t be able to face his wrath.”
“What the hell are you saying? I’m the Luna and I can’t run away fr….” He ends the call.
The bastard ended the call on me. This can’t be happening to me. Not now! I’m almost on the verge of achieving everything I desire. This can’t be happening….. AAAAAAGH!!!!
“I believe your precious Alpha has just abandoned you the same way you did to me?” The annoying voice of another idiot comes ringing in my ears.
“Why are you here, Gideon?” My hand clutches into a fist. My upper lips vibrate uncontrollably as my chest rises and falls in outrage. “How did you get into this mansion?”
“Don’t forget I’m a member of this household,” his lips drags in a nasty smile.
“Was. Seems that dickhead of yours is no longer functioning.”
“Maybe. But don’t forget we had a deal, Luna Chloe, and I’m here for you to fulfill your part,” he reminds me of my foolishness.
My eyes narrow as my gaze pierces through his soul. Seems this fool doesn’t know how desperate I am at this point. Probably, he wants to be the scapegoat.
