Lorenzo’s POV
I walked on the streets. It was starting to rain a little bit I didn’t mind.
My hands were buried deep in my pocket; my mind was consumed with thoughts; my heart thumped heavily inside of me.
I bit my lower lip in anticipation. I knew that something was coming.
I got to her house and knocked on the door. I looked through the window and noticed that the lights were low and I could smell perfume sweeping out of the cracks in the windows and doors.
There was a click and she opened up. My eyes were wide open as soon as I saw her.
She wore a seductive smile and pulled me inside.
I lost myself in her eyes and the sight of her beautiful body that was clad in revealing lingerie. A different one from the one she wore last.
“Lorenzo…”
I didn’t let her finish her sentence and pulled her into a steamy kiss. My mouth was drapped with the warmth of hers and my desires gushed out of me.
I spun her around and pinned her to the wall; I pressed my body against hers.
She tried to wrap her arms around my neck but I grabbed one of her arms and pinned it to the wall, clasping her fingers in mine.
I trailed kisses from her lips to her neck and she cocked her head to one side as she groaned in pleasure.
“Lorenzo…Ahhhhhnn”
The feeling between my legs intensified. I wanted her. I wanted to bury myself deep inside of her.
I didn’t waste any time and carried her to the sofa. I laid her down and her hair spread around like a beautiful halo. Her brown eyes pierced my soul and her slightly opened lips begged me to kiss her again.
And I did just that.
She groaned and pulled me in closer. She tasted wonderful. Her soft tongue was filled with the taste of vanilla. Had she had ice cream before I came?
I slipped my hand down. Her panties were…
“Lorenzo, have you thought about what talk about last time.”
The words came out unfiltered and I stopped. I looked at her and slowly, her brown eyes lost their seductive shimmer and darkened with growing anger.
“Lorenzo?”
I got off her and she sat up angrily.
I sat on the sofa and she stood furiously in front of her. Her arms were folded and she glared at me while I looked at the ground, speechless.
“Arrgghh!”
She grabbed the silk house coat that was on the table…
Table?
I looked around. She had done some redecorating. I didn’t notice it before.
“Lorenzo, I need an answer!”
Silence.
She glared at me and her cheeks reddened in anger.
“Don’t tell me…don’t tell me that you actually have feelings for her, that you love her?!”
“Clarissa, you need to calm down…”
I stood up and tried to hold her but she smacked my hand away.
“No! I will not calm down. You are an awful person, you love her and here you are…”
I pulled her in and silenced her with a kiss.
She fell weak in my embrace and I thought that I had salvaged the situation.
I thought…
She pushed me away and wiped her lips in anger.
“What is your problem?! Is that all you take me for?! You really thought that a kiss was going to save you from this?!”
“Clarissa, what do you want me to do!”
My voice broke out loud and she trembled slightly and took her voice down a few octaves but was still yelling at me.
“Isn’t it obvious? I want her dead. Gone. You said that you would think about it but you haven’t. I want her out of your life.”
I sighed angrily.
“I told you. I want her father’s kingdom. Is that so hard to ask?”
She was furious.
“So that’s it? You are bent on marrying her? You still want to marry her?”
“How else do you want me to get to be the Alpha?”
“I don’t know?! Any other way. We can find another way…”
I was exasperated.
“There is no ‘other’ way, Clarissa. You are going to have to live with it.”
She broke down and when I tried to hold her she smacked me off.
“Don’t touch me! Don’t you even dare! I should have known all along that you were lying to me! I can’t believe that you would choose that bitch and her fancy Alpha title over me!”
She got off the floor and grabbed her phone. I was alarmed.
“What are you doing?!”
“I had already called an assassin and I told him that once you made up your mind, I’d give him the go-ahead. And I can see that you have made up your mind!”
“What!”
My heart wavered. She had already hired an assassin! Was she this hell-bent on killing Erica? Did she really hate her that much?
I wrestled the phone out of her hand and kept it away from her.
She beat and scratched me in an effort to get it back but her punches were weak and barely made a dent on me.
“Clarissa, stop this! You’re being unreasonable.”
Her eyes were red as she looked up at me. They made the pain and anger in them even more terrifying.
“Unreasonable? I am the one who is being unreasonable? I trying to protect my mate from a woman that he doesn’t love unreasonable to you? Damn you, Lorenzo!”
She walked away and began to head upstairs.
“Clarissa! Clarissa!”
She ignored me and continued to climb. My instincts kicked in and I ran after her. As soon as I got to the top, I grabbed her and pinned her to the wall.
“Let go of me! Let go!”
She beat my chest but I didn’t budge. She was going nowhere.
“Clarissa, you are misunderstanding me. Just listen…”
“I think I got your message pretty clear, Lorenzo. There is no misunderstanding.”
I bit my lip.
“Clarissa, I…”
“Fine, make it clearer Lorenzo. Are you going to go through with our plan of killing her? That’s as simple as it’s going to get. Tell me. Are you?”
Her brown tear-filled eyes darted from eye to eye. They quivered and I felt myself breaking.
“Lorenzo?”
“Clarissa, I…I…”
I took a deep breath.
“I can’t. I won’t allow you to hurt Erica…”
