Chapter 285: Beg Kayden to Be the Family Head!

“Oh, my goodness!”
Deafening gasps filled the air as those words struck like a thunderclap, hitting everyone present like a blow to the chest.
He lost! Asad actually admitted that he lost!
Conrad’s face drained of color as he heard it. He hurriedly blurted out, panic creeping into his voice, “Guardian, you should have killed him! He’s going to destroy our whole family!”
Asad’s cold, all-white eyes locked onto Conrad with a terrifying intensity. The instant their gazes met, a visible shudder ran down Conrad’s spine. And it wasn’t just him-everyone who met that eerie stare seemed to freeze and visibly tremble in fear.
How could anyone stand under the weight of such a gaze? It felt as though their very soul was being shredded.
After a long while, there came Asad’s low voice, “Do you really think I could stop him if he truly wanted to destroy the Scott family? How naive!”
With that, he spun on his heel and walked away without looking back.
Everyone was left wondering what his words meant. Was he saying that he couldn’t defeat Kayden? That couldn’t be true-Asad had clearly had the upper hand! But Jason knew better. He was the only one in the Scott family who truly understood the meaning behind Asad’s words.
If Kayden had truly intended to destroy the Scott family, it would have already happened the moment stepped into the house. Not even Asad could have stopped him!
But Kayden didn’t do it. He hadn’t destroyed them, because deep down, he didn’t want to.
A wave of relief washed over Jason as he realized this. At least the worst had been avoided; at least Kayden wasn’t truly out to destroy them.
His eyes followed Asad’s back. Before Asad vanished from his sight entirely, Jason called out, his voice filled with respect, “We bid you farewell, Divine Guardian!”
And in perfect unison, the rest echoed his words. “We bid you farewell!”
Once Asad completely vanished from sight, Jason’s gaze fell back onto Kayden.
“Kayden, you’re hurt?” he asked urgently, and his face was etched with worry.
Just now, he was taken aback by Asad’s revelation that Kayden now had only three-tenths of his strength left, but at this moment, what he concerned most was Kayden’s injury.
Kayden let out a cold, mocking laugh. He was just about to say something when, unexpectedly, blood spurted from his mouth.
He looked down and saw the blood stain!
“Kayden! Are you alright!” Jason rushed forward, but Kayden quickly raised his hand to stop him.
Jason’s steps came to an abrupt halt. He could only stare at Kayden with worried eyes.
Kayden’s eyes turned bloodshot, and he vowed in a voice as firm as iron, “Don’t act all concerned. It’s none of your business. I’ll spare you and your families this time, but next time, there will be no mercy. Jason Scott, remember this-no matter what, I will avenge my parents. Sooner or later, I will make you pay for their deaths.”
With that, he got to his feet, then turned with an expressionless, almost careless look.
He wasn’t at all diminished by his injuries; instead, in that moment, he seemed to grow even more imposing, more formidable.
“Kayden!” Suddenly, Jason dropped to his knees with a loud thud. His actions shocked everyone around. Even Kayden came to a slow stop.
“Father, what are you doing?” Conrad exclaimed, rushing to help Jason up.
“Grandpa! Grandpa!”
“Father!”
The crowd erupted into a whirlwind of chaotic shouts once again, but Jason paid them no mind. His voice turned raw and hoarse from the tears that had choked him. He called out to Kayden, “I was wrong! I’ve never stopped atoning. I’ve never dared to forget the day I forced your parents to their deaths, nor the day I locked you in that hellish dungeon. You are all my blood, my family. What happened to you, is a wound I carry in my heart every single day. Please, believe me-if I hadn’t been driven to the edge, I would never have harmed my own family! I did it because I had no other choice!”
He spoke through his tears, beating his chest in great remorse. Ann couldn’t help but cry along with him.
Then, as if something struck him, Jason’s voice grew firm and resolute. He said, “You can hate me. You can curse me and call me your enemy. But that will never change one thing, that you are part of this family. The blood of the Scott family flows through your veins. I beg you-please, inherit the position of the family head. Once you take up the mantle, you’ll understand everything. You’ll know the reasons why I did that.”
Vicente, Conrad, Brodie, and the rest of the Scott family stood frozen, their faces stricken with disbelief.
Jason was kneeling on the ground, begging Kayden!
Was he out of his mind? He was begging Kayden to take the head of the family position.
As the family head of the prestigious Scott family, Jason’s power and influence stretched across Seclela. Yet he was now on his knees before Kayden, pleading for him to inherit the family’s leadership.
This was the position that every single descendant of the Scott family had been yearning for. It also stood for a status that outsiders could only fantasize about but would never achieve in their entire lives. And now, Jason was actually kneeling, begging someone who had no interest in it to inherit it.
Just imagine it; someone knelt on the ground and begged you to take up a position of supreme power. This was utterly ridiculous!
Was this young man really that formidable?
Or perhaps it’s because Jason had gone insane-he’d completely lost his mind!
The younger generations of the Scott family all shared the same thoughts.
Suddenly, Kayden slowly turned around and looked into Jason’s eyes. With a cold, almost scornful arrogance, he spoke, “Don’t think for a second that I care about this position. I can destroy your family right now and create a hundred more clans just like it.”
Jason’s tears streamed down relentlessly, “But your home will only ever have one.”
A fleeting trace of gloom crossed Kayden’s face. “My home was destroyed by you fifteen years ago,” he said in an indifferent tone.
He didn’t pause for a single second. With a straight back and purposeful steps, he walked right out of the house.
His goal was achieved. All he wanted was to force Asad to show up and to have a good fight with him. That strike from Asad on his chest did help expel some of the congestion in his body. In modern life, it was hard to find martial artists and nearly impossible to find anyone who could challenge him, let alone someone who could push him to his limits. After considering it carefully, it seemed Asad was the only one capable of doing that, so Kayden came to the Scott family.
Now, with some of the congestion drawn out, Kayden could feel a noticeable change in his body.
As for Jason and his family, now is not the time for their destruction. If he truly intended to wipe out the Scott family, just moments ago, they would have been completely finished.
Inside the Scott Mansion.
At this moment, the Scott family members were completely stunned by Jason’s actions. He hadn’t got up, and no one dared speak, afraid that the slightest misstep would anger him. Yet, in their hearts, they were already forming their own conclusions.
In their eyes, Kayden was recklessly taking advantage of Jason’s lingering guilt. Asad could have killed him without effort earlier. They believed Kayden was not the formidable figure he was made out to be. Those titles of “War God” and “the Defender” now turned laughable in the face of his defeat.
But what truly disheartened them was Jason’s actions. They were such a powerful family, and this was such an important position. Yet Jason was forcing someone who clearly didn’t want to assume the role of family head to do so. It was beyond comprehension.
They thought Asad hadn’t hesitated to stop the fight because he didn’t want an unfair victory, but no. Little did they know, it was because Asad knew that continuing the fight would gain him no advantage at all!
Just then, Jason was suddenly filled with renewed resolve. He slowly rose to his feet, straightened his back, and turned to his subordinates. “All followers of the Scott family, listen up!” he commanded.
As soon as the command was given, people flooded into the room, quickly grouping themselves by the color of their attire.
Each faction, identified by its distinctive color, fell into line. Within moments, thousands of people had gathered here.
“Members of the Loyal House, assembly complete! Awaiting orders from the family head!”
“Members of the Righteous House, assembly complete! Awaiting orders from the family head!”
“Members of the Hall House, assembly complete! Awaiting orders from the family head!”
“…”
The entire room was filled with disciplined ranks. Each person stood tall, chest out, and head held high, ready to spring into action at a moment’s order.
In an instant, the mansion went from complete silence to a lively commotion!
Jason’s sharp gaze swept over the crowd as he gave his command, “Guys, your Young Master Kayden is gravely injured. You are all to ensure his safety at all costs. If anything happens to him, I will hold you all responsible!”
“Yes, sir!” The thunderous chorus of voices echoed across the mansion, shaking the walls with its intensity.
